  • Tee hee! To cute!

  • i swear to god this is exactly like a ladyboy performance i saw not too long ago, both were hilarious and entertaining

  • @alteclansing3333 - how was Bangkok?

  • Eu amo essa música!

  • I think that Carmen Miranda looks like Lupe Velez in this clip. It's sad that Lupe ended her own life because she thought that her career was over because there's no reason why she couldn't have done what the great Carmen Miranda did with using her Latina sex appeal as a gimmick for musical numbers.

  • 2:39 YouTube video of Carmen Miranda singing "I like you very Much" (Uma noite no Rio)

February 9, 1909: birth of Carmen Miranda, Brazilian actress (d. 1955); noted for her signature fruit hat outfit she wore in the 1943 movie The Gang's All Here.

  • carman will be on an american postage stamp in March 2011

  • Her expression at 1:32 is so adorable! Love her!

  • I heard this one from Dad's Army, when Private Walker sing it while shaking a bottle, in the episode "Keep Young and Beautiful", from then on I was trying to track this song...

  • She used her hands to great effect - mesmerising !

  • Great number! Miranda would reprise it later on in 1948's A Date With Judy, also in Technicolor.

  • A cada apresentação Carmen era melhor!

  • This has made me sooo happy my dad used to take the piss singing this around the house when I was a kid :) ah nostalgia

  • love how she's so graceious

  • hahah i like this so cheesy, luckily i love cheesy things

  • This song was played in the final episode of The :Prisoner, starring Patrick McGoohan. Why? We will never know but it's a Prisonerfan's favourite

  • @prisonerfan

This song is also played in a Futurama's movie called The Beast With A Billion Backs Leg.

  • @kinhotri that sounds interesting! Great song, I love it.

  • @prisonerfan : indeed! I just realized that the floor she's dancing on is just like the giant chess floor in the "Checkmate" episode of The Prisoner :)

  • @prisonerfan : After having a look at the english lyrics of the song I see some suspicious references to what happens in Fall Out moments after NumberOne is defeated, and right after Rover disappears and the Rocket lifts off:

    "i think your're grand"

"You are too too too too too divine"

"I like your lips and i like your eyes

Do you like my lips to hypnotize you?" (#2 said at some point: "You're no longer hypnotizing me")

"See see see the moon above"

Some stuff to think about... :)

  • @prisonerfan : And some more references:

    "I, i, i, i can see see see

That's you for me" (NumberOne watching through a big "Eye" on the rocket (also seen many times during the series) - now it's NumberSix watching since he's the one in charge after NumberOne is defeated)...

  • Thank You so much for sharing this wonderful clip.

  • Too Fun!

    Cheers

  • i love her! and her voice!

  • carmen have been added to my goddess list

    E VIVA O BRASIL!!!!!!

  • Carmen is truly divine. Her movements are the essence of dancing.

  • so graceful!!

  • CARMEN WAS FROM Brazil from RIO !!!!!IDIOTS

  • Carmen Miranda até é portuguesa... Lol

  • She had born in the City of Marco de Canavezes,in Portugal

  • Pure magic.

  • belissimo

  • That's delightful. When Carmen sings the translation is "see see see" but I think it should be "sí sí sí".

  • Noooo, it's supposed to be portuguese language..."sim sim sim"

  • instead of a portuguese or a brazilian accent, she does a mexican or a spanish speaking person's accent. americans thought then and still think that brazilians speak spanish and still call us hispanics. We don't have anything against hispanics but we like to make sure taht we are LUSO BRASILEIROS.

  • I know what you mean. Back then Hollywood seem to only use filipino actors for WW II movies and nothing else unless they were a servant. They used japanese actors for chinese roles and vice versa. They still do it today-look at "Memoirs of a Geisha".

  • Yes! Thank you my friend!

  • You're gladly welcome my freind. You know, I was just watching on cable "Back to Bataan," a WW II picture set in the Philippines and they had a Spanish actress(I hope I'm politically correct), playing a filipino woman and her accent was totally mixed up-it was a mix of filipino and mexican. Jesus!!!

  • get over you're self gosh.

  • Sure, they had Carmen play a Cubana, Argentinian, you name it. My mom's from Honduras and my Chicano friends in LA used to think I was putting on airs if I said I wasn't Mexican. I'd say no offense, but I'm really not Mexican!

  • carmen was the best , thanks
