Not to mention the end boss in Shadow of the Beast for the C64... it's also a giant, like in the Amiga version of the game *but* - in the C64 version, whenever you hit him, his toenail will blink... and when you defeat him, it falls off.
I didnt own SOTB3 but i owned number 2 on the Atari 520 ST. From watching your vids (thanks for uploading btw) i think the 3rd game doesn't look quite as good... or to put it another way, it looks better, has smoother animations, better gameplay, more clever puzzles, BUT... it dont stand out as much and the artwork isn't quite as original. The music isn't as memoable either. SOTB2 has such classic tunes and a way better intro. What made me actually buy 2 was the amazing box art (i was little)
This brings back great memories:) of gaming on the Amiga, I used to obsess over the first game:) I still think it has some of the most incredible soundtracks out there.
Laffer, didn't you know why Aarbron looks different from game to game? Aarbron is the Beast games main character by the way. Anyway, in Beast 1, you've just been changed into a monster; and you supposedly kill Maletoth. In Beast 2, you are half monster, half human and you kill Zelek to save your sister. In Beast 3, however, you finally kill Maletoth, so you are a full human again. :)
The titular Beast is Maletoth (beaten in this video), whose shadow the protagonist lives under. His mage Zelek (II's boss) is probably the one who made the player character 'beastly'...
What happens after it says "You Know What..."?

Talk about a let down boss. This series seems to suffer from this problem.
First game - Punch a giant to death..in the foot! While a big club floats down!
Second game - Fire your Gradius-style ripple beam at the Ghost of Christmas' Future! Also you have a loincloth!
Third game - Hadouken a flying head to death while wearing your new hat!
Doh.

Wonderful ending music but the most pathetic boss ever.

This was the only Beast game I could complete without cheating :-P

The reason it's not well known is the other 2 beast games were ported to other consoles, this one remains as an Amiga exclusive.

i don't get it, when was this game released? i thought shadow of the beast was something completely different, i never seen this one.

Released in 1992. It is quite different from the previous games in the series (well, they're all quite different from one another).
I have longplays of the first two games in the series as well.

that was a bit of a shock! i was like wtf, what happened to shadow of the beast? he's turned into an old man!!
Pablos544 3 years ago
In SotB2, he looks like a caveman :D
He seems to change for each game.
SotB3 is still a pretty good game, though.

I thought you were showing how you hacked this game, then i realised it must be an edition of SOB i never knew existed.
Pablos544 3 years ago
Hehe, I can't hack anything.
It's by far the least well known Beast game, though.
laffer35 3 years ago
you can say that again! (it's by far one of the least well-known beast games)
