hes actually very humble. ive met him before and the guy is a hard worker and a leader on the team who also just likes to have fun too. just becuase hes dancing in between the game doesnt mean that hes a cocky overrated player. He's more underrated because the dodgers didnt have a good season, but he didnt let that affect his game and still produced for the dodgers
@THUNK760 you've obviously never seen the video. not only does he try and instigate fisticuffs with a shove. He then gets smashed in the face. Then adding insult to injury by trying to pull down Torrealba with him. only to recieve a few knee bashes to the face
@THUNK760 then you obviously have never been in a fight before. You would also know that pushing someone is the worst way to start a fight. I can't see how Kemp even was winning that fight for a second
Why are you talking to Matt? This is not his video page and I
doubt he comes here to watch or read the comments.
This is a nice sweet video of a nice sweet ballplayer
being just about as adorable as is humanly possible. Why are you here talking about
fights that happened who knows when?
I kindly request that you take the hatin' somewhere else. And may you one day find a ballplayer who brings you half as much joy as Matt does to so many.
@tng150 True I wasn’t paying attention until this year, but I have watched Matt very closely since the season started & he’s been nothing but a model citizen, hustling hard every day, being a leader, saying & doing all the right things, extremely accessible to fans, a humble team-oriented player with mad skills & a total joy to watch. Maybe he’s totally changed since last year or maybe he’s beaten the your team one too many times but the Matt you describe is not the Matt I’ve seen at all. Thnx.
@CarolNYC I'm a Sox fan. They'd love to play the dodgers anytime. Ethier came from a wood bat league in Keene. I don't like the way he throws his hands up when he hits a homer. Just run the bases like a man and put your chain back in, if I was a pitcher and he did that to me the first pitch would be under his chin
@tng150 No doubt it would. FWIW, I heard Arizona announcers earlier this year say the point to the sky was in no way showing up the opposition but instead a tribute to his brother Tyler who died at the age of two when Matt was just in 8th grade, a traumatic moment for Matt. Too bad his remembering his lost bro in this way bothers you so. Didn't bother the DBacks announcers tho, who thought that Matt's brother must be proud of him. Good luck to your Sox.
@tng150 Ummmm.....no. Based on what I've seen this year, which is all I have to go on, the stuff he's done, especially in that lineup (he's currently being "protected" by a batter who, altho a good hitter, has one HR this season) has been nothing short of spectacular. I'd say he's a bit underrated, if anything.
@tng150 Wow, generalize much? Explains why you think he’s overrated tho if you’re just assuming because he’s playing for LA that he is. West Coast folks would tell you the opposite. They think that anyone playing for NY, Boston, Philly etc gets all the love...East Coast bias and all that. I would suggest you forget the LA on his jersey and just pay attention to the stuff he’s doing and the team (not LA but the actual members of the team) he’s doing it with. Might be an eye opener.
@tng150 Fine, and it's certainly true that your Sox are doing much better than my Dodgers this year, but it has been an absolute joy for me to be able to watch Matt Kemp play every day. He reminds me of why I fell in love with this sport in the first place so long ago. BTW, there's a really nice Kemp profile in SI this week. You should check it out.
@coolguyinthe562 ur team wasn't even .500, instead we have Jacoby Ellsbury, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester so you shouldnt even be talking
@coolguyinthe562 you kidding me? Loney blows, and Kemp has had one breakout year, I would take Ellsbury over Kemp anyday, Ellsbury is younger, and is a better outfielder, not to mention is more of a threat on the basepaths, and I mean you can't even compare Adrian Gonzalez to James Loney
@tng150 Actually Ellsbury is a year old than kemp, and not only is Kemp better in almost every offensive category for his career, he went 40 40 in 2011, had a better average than Ells, 20 more rbis, more walks, and won both Gold Glove and silver slugger, and hes bigger, so id take Kemp anyday over Ellisbury
@jon11565 yea well jacoby had more hits, double, triples, total bases, runs scored, extra base hits, a higher walk-strikeout rate, etc. and he also has a gold glove, size doesn't really matter if that's what you're trying to say, oh and did I mention Matt Kemp got fucked up by Yorvit Torrealba?
Thanks for the comments. I was a Yankee fan back when Don Mattingly was playing. And I became a Dodger fan the day Donnie was named manager. I just love, love, love Matt Kemp. He is too cute for words. I was so glad I caught this on film. :) And I'm so sad that both of my boys in blue have left my city. :(
@yrtyrtyytrytry Haha! Yeah, I bandwagon with losing teams whose ownership is doing everything possible to undermine their success (altho in Steinbrenner’s defense, I do think he was trying to get a winning team together, just was failing miserably and being a total a**hole in the process). I will not deny that I would follow Don Mattingly wherever he goes. And I know I’m not the only one. He has that effect on people.
Da Bison bustin a move! Mattie does this a lot at OOTG's (our of town games) depending on the choice of music of course. Have seen him do it a few times here in SF... an Matt's thank you gesture to the entertained OF Citi fans at 1:15 - awesome.

@tng150 where can I find this video again?

Teams can't walk him intentionally like some other great hitters because they don't have the speed Kemp has. He's getting 40 steals for sure.
