  • OMFG!!!

  • nice work

  • That kick needed to stay nice and high. Imo anyway, good fun either way :).

  • <3 this more than BoC's version.

  • yes you should do the track on mp3 please!

  • @leftsidedrive just google something along the line of 'youtube to mp3' and you'll find a bunch of stuff

  • incredible!

  • I don't know what that machine is, but I bet they have one in the death star.

  • this boards track has always screamed MAKE MORE OF ME to me

    this is groovy stuff

  • I am amazed that the melody is so strong that it even survives this treatment and still sounds wonderful.

  • CLIMPER CLIMPER DRECKKK!!!

  • goddaaaamn. make a full length track!!!!! :O

    look at all the reactions...

  • You sir are god.

  • pretty cool

  • LAME background beat. Find something deeper.

  • @catsarethesweetest could have been said less-bluntly, but yea, find a funkier drum pattern.

really though, i can't help much, but appreciate the programming needed to play this tricky bassline out of that thing, i can. i mean listen to that shit after 2:05... beautiful.

  • yo what notes are being played ?

  • some tape delay on this and it is done. wonderfull cover!

  • this is sick. the boards version is too short

  • Nice work!

  • And when you make that 9 min. version, imagine a math equation in your head adding Armand Van Helden & Will Gregory together, then divide that by Joey Beltram, see what you get ;D

  • 1st of all, your track is premium dope!!!! Kaini Industries is pretty much my favorite BoC track too! Off of the album 'Children Have The Right to Children' (1998). The BoC version was produced with good ol' MIDI. Inspiration from the first Frederick Pohls Gateway (1992) video game. If you remember ever playing the game through, you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • Yeah please upload a recording of this it's so good!

  • tres brilliant

  • so good

  • Make a 10 minute version pleeease

  • wtf is thet mkontact me

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!! : )

  • Is that a dart board with knobs? wtf?

  • Awesome! Really Love Boards of Canada, and this is so skweee-like cover x)

  • That's totally the spirit man. Keep on!

  • Superb.

Dare I say it, but Kaini Industries (original) is a waste of an killer hook. It could be made into so much more.

  • @UncleSqualid I think it's good they just left at it, so anyone can take it and make it themselves very easily. Just listen to the breathtaking remix of Bibio... :)

  • @theeighthletter I know I'm on thin ice here but I don't especially like Bibio. When somebody whips out an acoustic guitar, my heart sinks a little.

  • @theeighthletter That's not to say it's any less worthy of respect though.

  • @UncleSqualid To each of his own :D

  • ..just keep twiddling and posting more versions

  • yEAH MORE!

  • illy

  • I love it!

  • you turned it into something that really sounds like a song for some industry now. good job :p usually could care less for covers of any sort but this is almost sorta your own thing right here.

  • Whoa, neat gear.

    Also, awesome cover.

  • fuckin cool cover dude !!!!..

  • What is this exactly? Does it just manipulate the sound or is it an actual midi?

  • midi

he sequenced the notes of the original

  • gj on the notation.

  • pretty rad, dude(tte).

  • Could I please get the notes to Kaini Industries. Would love to try this out!

Thanks. Amazing effort with this. :)

  • dido

  • yes i wonna it too!

  • Awesome cover! I always thought it would be sweet to put a drum beat behind it. Well done.

  • An original cover. Well done!

  • How many phrases/bars is being played by the rev? With the delay and the tweaking I am having trouble telling if it's the same four bar loop, or something different.

  • after a while there you made it your own

  • Hi could i ask the make of the delay pedal...

    Thanks chris

  • Digitech Digidelay

  • kick ass

  • Very nice cover! :)

  • Nice job! 5stars :)

  • simply awesome - i loved every second of this song - thank you

  • that is a boards of canada song....

  • god made my hair stand on end!!!! love it how can i get this track man???? peace =)

  • that looks fun

  • oh boy thats realy good work

  • how come I cant see the light spinning around the revolution?

    this concerns me

  • This might be performed in the Revolution's song mode. On my 777, the lights cycle through the steps in pattern-edit mode. In song mode, I believe, the start/stop button's LED is the only blinking light. I assume the Revolution is similar in that regard.

  • pure class! luv it my friend.

  • oh. still a great job you did. awesome...

  • did BoC use the Future Retro for that track???

  • probably not. the song was released before the future retro was around.

  • @lesscunning hell no they didn't

  • @lesscunning BoC Used a SH 101 and tape delay to be exact. Lol. i am a nerd

  • @pomfrit93 or maybe a mc-202 ;)

  • @lordolof In fact i know they used a sh 101 live on mostly all of their shows and on their records. (don't know with this one though). mc 202 is also sounding quite different to a sh 101 if you ask me.

  • @pomfrit93 oh ok cool. I heard they used the mc-202 too (not for this track tho). The 202 can make some really nice BoC'ish sounds :)

  • Good stuff

  • Wish I had this on mp3. I have the original song and it's a long term favourite but I almost like this version better. Or at least in a different way.

  • where can I buy one?

    the revolution

  • the 'order' page on their website.

  • thanx man

    f*** $750, I need a job lol

    do u have any advice?

like are there any ups or downs, would you have rather gotten something else?

  • @HoweGavin get a x0xs instead ;)

  • great tune!!

  • ddamn that is cool. different sound yet most certainly the same track, well done

  • cool!

  • very nice.

  • Good Job!!! Lots of cool gear!!

Check out my Boards Of Canada cover. :)

  • I have a bunch of mislabeled BoC old stuff. It was in/around the few old tunes collections.

As for if Kaini industries is BoC, I beleive it is. I've heard some stuff attributed to them that is just not very likely!

You have done this song justice, but I would have played it MUCH slower and with a more analog, less electronic feel. Great job, A+ 5/5

  • Thanks. and Kaini Industries is definitely BoC unless you're disputing whether 1 of their 3 major releases is actually by them.

  • really amazing. You make the beats on the computer or so? This sounds so nice :D

  • amazingly excellent!!

can I ask how much the Future Retro and TR 606 set you back? I'd like them myself

  • Thanks..

I got the retro used on ebay for ~$550 and the 606 for ~$200.

  • amazingly excellent!!

can I ask how much the Future Retro and TR 606 set you back? I'd like them myself

  • Nice remix mate!

  • Well done, mate. Two thumbs up.

  • Awesome!

  • Fuck yeah.

  • If you only knew how much i adore BOC. Very Acid Track that you probably would love to do is Boards of Canada - Numerator. But also Wouldn?t You Like To Be Free,or Remmy Kid, all off of Play By numbers If you haven't heard these tracks I can send to you. Ohh also Alpha Rainbow, or What about I Saw Drones? Bigups. Keep doing your thing.

  • I don't think any of the "Play By Numbers" Tracks are legit, but I think the track that is labeled "Numerator" is actually "Iced Cooly Beatnik" from "A Few Old Tunes CD2". I'm going to try that one.

  • I didn't think they were legit either. Though I went to the discogs site and matched the track titles up and minute form and they matched. But who knows ya know? However, the tracks definately have the BoC sound to them. Iced Cooly Beatnik is 38 seconds right? When I matched up Numerator to the discogs site it's 4;37 just as the track I have. anyway bla bla bla. I just thought you would love to emulate that one. such a nice acid track that would work well with what your doing. :)

  • this shit is nice!!

  • Very nice!!!!

  • nice approach on the original

  • Nice remix! You should take it further.

  • i have a new love for my favorite boc song!

  • (^o^)!!! i have a new love for my favorite boc song!

  • lOVE IT,nICE WORK!

  • Bad video for me.Now I've started to think about buying one of this FutureRetro and it cost almost the same as a secondhand TB303.Probably more reliable I guess.Oh well may be one day.Nice vid.

  • Sweet Mary mother of god!

    Fkin great stuff.

    EYE LOVE BoC.

  • Thanks so much. Im thinking of doing Bocuma next.

  • Nice stuff. I haven't heard the song but this sounds very cool. Makes me want to use the revolution in a similiar way. Not the usual 303-bassline stuff but something melodic and more lead synth-ier like this. Oh well, Im sure you know what I mean :)

  • nice :D

  • thanks

  • yeeeeaah! 606 is the best machinedrum ever!!! future retro sounds excellent! please tell me, where i can find notes to 'kaini industries'

  • I cant post the link here, but I will message you the notes.

  • thanxxx a lot, i have just buy a futureretro, it's really psychodelic machine. thanx once again. peace from POLAND

  • Can you message them to me as well? I'd be so greatful!!

  • Very fresh.

  • thanks, man

  • Being that you responded quickly, I'll elaborate a bit more... I don't actually have much to say. It's nice to see a take on a BoC song that I actually like (the remix or whatev, not the original necessarily).

It's varied enough that kick ass, or something more meaningful that I can't quite figure out how to say... good job.
