i think pennie is fantastic too. they both bring/brought really cool aspects to the band. songs like time consumer are perfect bass-drums mesh but hearing songs like mother may i live with pennie is a real treat. they both rock except i think josh has kinda lost his mind

Todd + Eppard are just too perfect together. When it comes to overall skill Pennie beats Josh. But Josh just has the rhythm and sound (he makes that hi-hat his bitch when he plays) that Chris will never make. I'd take him over Pennie any day but nonetheless, Pennie makes me happy when he plays.

@21rush12 I gotta disagree. Pennie may have some serious ridiculous technical licks. But the role of a drummer in a band is not to dominate the entire scene and showboat. Josh has a class that is unmatched in many a drummer these days. Look at the relationship with Mike Todd he's got going. It's totally insane.

When that relationship exists, nothing else matters but the music. And that's what live playing should be about.

Forget tricks and licks :-) forget "training and technicality".
