With that said, its very odd to give speeding tickets to someone going only 5 over as the cop shouldn't have pulled you over for speeding to begin with.

@maikatase Radar's are fine for 5 mph over, idk where you learned that, but I'm a Criminal Justice Major and yes, they are. It's just not worth the cops time to pull someone over. It's called priority. 5mph over isn't worth their time when someone could easily go by right after doing 15mph over.

So radar gun = r(dot), if radar gun reads the speed limit, the actual speed will normally be greater because of the r*theta(dot) term. The 5mph to 7-8mph over generally ensures the cop your speeding. Your right though, priorities do matter and 15mph is much more worth their time.

@Impulse94z Yes, but a) he would only be 5mph too fast and secondly you are allowed to go a little faster than what is allowed because the display isn't 100% accurate.

Mind you, I had a car that told me I was going 130kmph while my speed measured by radar was 118kmph, so there is enough stuff to argue that cruise control set to 70mph in a 65mph zone won't make you speeding after all.
