I read the book years ago before I saw this movie and I gotta say if you don't read the book first you won't know what's going on, since movies can only be two hours long a lot gets cut out. But anyway the movie was fantastic too, but read the book first.

Yep, they are. Did you read Gone With The Wind? Tons of juicy details in the book were left out of the movie; though the movie's good also. To Kill A Mockingbird is another good book and movie.
