I don't know why... this song is really funny to me. I live in California. And everyone here, including myself, knows that the "big one" could come anyday. And we all know that there is a good chance that it'll probably end up killing us. We just don't give a fuck... it's really weird, and this song pretty much sums up our attitude towards it.
@Hueylewisable: The song came out in 1983, the earthquake in Japan didn't happen until 2011 (28 years later). How in the hell are these girls making fun of what happened in Japan? Oh, they must be able to predict the future. Sie sind nichts anderes als eine große Scheiße Kopf.
The lyics of this song are really pretty clever and funny,.. " I'm gon'a run, run, run,.. I'm having so much fun cause theres a building chasing me. SlIP SMACK ! I just fell in a crack and now I'm part of the debris ". Too bad it wasn't a bigger hit than it was. I really think the best songs of the 80's are the more obscure ones like this.
We just had an earthquake around 9pm PST here in So. Cali.!! It registered at an even 5.0!! It was insane! I was at the grocery store and everything was moving and shakin' but you couldn't feel anything underneath your feet!!
Wow! I loved this song when it was new. It has stayed in my brain all this time. It sounds even better than I remember. LA is due for another big earthquake, there hasn't been a major one since Northridge in 94. I hope it doesn't happen anytime soon.
oh yeah.. today in my class my teacher made us watch a video of earthqueakes n i saw the northridge one, it was so scary and big, i also herd this song in the video so thats why i came to look for its name... umm i dont believe in what they predict but some ppl say that the world's gonna end on 2012... oh well..
Stage performance in the 80s... Lets just leave it in the 80s.

My surfboard's ready for the tidal wave. I'm gonna ride down Sunset like a Beach Boy today. I only hope I don't wipe-out in West L.A

WOW I cant believe this is on here. When I was a DJ at WESS , East Stroudsburg Univ radio in mid 1980's, it was in my regular rotation . Great stuff

The band once appeared at the Odyssey in-person to lip-sync the song, around 1982-1983.
