  • Hahaha "I don't know why I set fire to his place"

  • Is it weird that I actually feel nostalgic listening to this song?

  • I was convulsing in laughter at this one XD

  • This has to be my favorite song by him. Sadistic and hilarious.

  • Anyone notice that the melody in the verses is almost the same as that of "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band?

  • We can all remember the first teacher we fucked

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • Hmm... I guess Michelle did make it home again after all, just in time to post that dislike.

  • the one guy who disliked this was the son of mr.fender

  • Always loved torturing rats with a hacksaw.

  • wierd all all the way

  • i love weird al

  • This remind me of what I'll be able to do in life. I can't wait 'til homecoming!

  • this song captures my childhood perfectly

  • The good old days when music didn't suck, there were tons of awesome TV shows to watch and you could eat your soup out of the ash trays. It's okay, they're clean!

  • @Headbanger142

And how did you forget about the towels? The oh-so-fluffy towels??

  • Man, this used to be my favorite off of the whole album...this was the cut...lol

  • why does this song make me remember when i was in 7th grade listening to this on cassette, in 1988 ? AWESOME!!!

  • what was the original song name that weird al used

  • @FengZeXiao It's not a parody of any particular song. It's a parody of James Taylor's style.

  • ah what a heart warming song makes me think back to when i was a young lad...

  • I cant count the number af rats I cut up with my trusty hacksaw.....

  • @onebiglepercon now i feed em to my snake "Merlin" ..lol

  • Wonderfully demented, woefully overlooked. Face it - this song is an absolute classic!

  • There are now 2 glorious versions of this song by Al--love them both! ~Andrea~

  • To me it seems like a parody of Jim Croce, especially the instrumental opening.

  • @BoyScout1960

Nah, it reminds me more of James Taylor. Listen to the chorus and you will hear more than a passing resemblance to "Only One".

  • your the one who shaved briitney spears head

  • always luvd it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i could really see james taylor singing this!

  • This reminds me of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac!

  • The best song from the best Wierd Al album by far.

Fat, Melanie, Velvet Elvis, Stuck in a Closet With Vanna White, I Think I'm a Clone Now...

    total fucking classic

  • @tamerlanenj No kidding... I suppose it helps this was the first album of his I listened to when I was like 8 but it brings back memories of driving I5 to Trinity National Forest to go camping with my older brothers and having them patiently explain each song to me and why it was funny. This song really takes me back.

  • BenetonMovie, you're subscribed to this guy, too? Or did you just search this?

  • I searched this. I love Weird Al.

  • @skateguru95 ???

  • I have very fond memories of this song. I remember listening to it in my room on my walkman. I'm pretty sure it was when I just started getting interested in music. Not sure I saw humor in the lyrics, but I sure do now!

  • I think we can all think back fondly to the first grocery store owner we bludgeoned to death. Ah memories.

  • @megamarsvin ahhhh

  • Does anyone else get the feeling Weird Al is a closet psychopath after hearing this? He's also got a couple other morbidly odd songs other than this one. Hmmm...

  • maybe his songs are a way to let it all out...instead of really doing it he makes a song about it ^^

  • Oh, sometimes I think back to when I was younger Life was so much simpler then Dad would be up at dawn He'd be watering the lawn Or maybe going fishing again Oh, and Mom would be fixing up Something in the kitchen Fresh biscuits or hot apple pie And I'd spend all day long in the basement Torturing rats with a hacksaw And pulling the wings off of flies Those were the good old days Those were the good old days The years go by, but the memory stays And those were the good old days
  • I can still remember good old Mr. Fender Who ran the corner grocery store Oh, he'd stroll down the aisle With a big friendly smile And he'd say "Howdy!" When you walked in the door Always treated me nice, gave me kindly advice I don't know why I set fire to his place Oh, I'll never forget the day I bashed in his head Well, you should've seen the look on his face Let me tell ya now
  • Do you remember sweet Michelle? She was my high-school romance She was fun to talk to and nice to smell So, I took her to the homecoming dance Then I tied her to a chair and I shaved off all her hair And I left her in the desert all alone Well, sometimes in my dreams I can still hear the screams Oh, I wonder if she ever made it home I tell ya Those were the good old days Those were the good old days The years go by, but the memory stays And those were the good old days
  • this is definitely one of his finest songs...

  • @idealflaw absolutely!

  • I think I'm afraid of Weird Al after this

  • Those were the good ole' days.

    No question.

    Weird Al knows.

Who else are you gonna' claim as the authority?

    Don't be an idiot.

Those were, in fact, the good ole' days.

  • nice to smell...lol

  • the 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009's go by but the memory stays and those were the good old days

  • this is a funny song, although a little bit violent...

  • Man I love this song, I mean it has that campy feel to it but at the same time it is profoundly messed up. Only Al could do something like that! XD

  • I wonder if she ever made it home.

  • I'll never forget the day I bashed in his head...

  • yep those were the days huh nothing like torturing rat with a hack saw haha i remember how ma' yelled at me for staining the good carpet at the corner of the room
