@AhhThatHart actually the 86 would probably beat the 95 stock for stock. 94-95 5.0s had less horsepower and weighed alot more. But i will say if the 86 wasnt converted to mass air flow then the 95 might have a good chance.

Actually, for those mods only, the 86 did pretty well! I had an 86 back in the day, and while it would be 'slow' by today's standards, back then running high 14's stock was considered good. I had it modded with cam, intake, exhaust, et. al. and got it running 13.4@106 before I grenaded the tranny and sliced the drivers' side up, and ditched it for $2200... lol...

i love stangs. i just wish FORD didnt Bring back the 5.0 as they did, more of a GIMMICK to sell cars,dont get me wrong , its a BEAST of a motor, and would love to own one, but they know how popular the 5.0 was. Anyone who knows american muscle in general knows that the 5.0 is a : Ford 302 CI OHV pushrod V8 with one Cam. this new modular motor, which is nassty, makin over 400hp is an Overhead Cam modular engine. so to call it a 5.0 is true, but to say, "The 5.0 is back" well thats different

@IRONSEAN7 The pushrod engine actually isn't even a 5.0, it was rounded up for marketing. So the slogan should be the 5.0 is finally here in my opinion. I'm not meaning to cause trouble, just saying. I own a 1988 lx 5.0 vert myself and love it

GM did similar as they referenced the LS1 as a 350ci but its actually a 346ci.

That 95 is a 5.0, it was actually the last year of the 5.0, and after that they went to the over head cam 4.6 liters

@Axmankiller the 95 was slower than the 93 and earlier cars, and they had a weaker 5spd tranny in the stick cars. The computer was tuned to remove timing when it sensed a gear shift to protect the transmission, that and the fact it was heavier made for a slow car.

Any motor will outlast expectations if it is not abused and oil changed. I have had MANY vehicles go over 200k miles. My 97 Ford F250 that actually was used as a WORK truck went 300k on original 460 motor, the tranny went out at 265k miles.

not all that impressive considering ur runnin 373s and hes runnin 273s and the 86 5.0 motor didnt put out very much hp i beleive it was like 150 round there stock so hes maybe pusshin 200 at the crank you got some skills takin off the line in a 5 speed though man right on ive had 6 5.0s i love em
