  • @nutajoke claiming he has a GTI VR6... you clearly dont own one cause this doesn't exist. and I doubt the sentra would beat either one of em. the new sentra is styled like a subcompact car. its narrow but its sitting high to improve interior room... thats ugly as fuck

  • id rather get a civic si

  • @ironkid5 Seriously? 130-160hp Civic si vs 200hp spec v. The nissan would blow away an si no problem

  • @CEREALBOX9311 civic si has 197hp i belive

  • @CEREALBOX9311 civic si is 197 horse and 139 lb-ft of torque, but much better handling...0-60 is 6.3 seconds in si, 6.9 in spec-v. clear as day...and new civic is 201 horse and 179 ft-lb of torque (approx for torque cant remember exact. spec v is cheaper though, there is no doubt it is good value for price but it is nothing special

  • It's amazing. The performance you get out of a minivan chassis. Craziness.

  • Is this car built on a pickup chassis?

  • crap

  • volks wagons are junk!

  • volks wagons are junk!

  • Yellow does not match this car at all.

  • Who divides the cost of the car by the amount of horsepower it has? Most irrelevant information ever. rofl

  • @RC18MT you're kidding, i hope.

  • same engine as that of 02 altima, same torque but build with different specs to produce a 200hp car. Not bad, but i wouldnt be surprised in the future if you see these cars with head gasket problems as early altima's had.....

  • @Damgoodballers8 Same engine family, but not the same engine. It did have some problems when it debuted in 07, but they've been fixed.

  • I have this car...the spec v in gray...it is really good fun!! the handling is not great but you can still make it dance...it has enough power for daily commuting and it has enough ground clearance for snow or floods...if you keep it stock for daily driving you can't beat this car. Steering wheel has great feel and feedback, great 6 speeds manual and the engine is bullet proof...the engine loves to rev high all day long!! am saving for the STI :D

  • love the sentra, but I always feel sorry for the engine when it makes that horrible tiny asian engine noise

  • save yourself 10 grand over a gti and get this??? I bought a brand new 2008 GTI with DSG transmission for 24,300. It handles many times better and with a 5-600 dollar ECU flash will give the GTI 260hp and 303 ft lbs torque at the crank.

  • I own a 2008 Spec-V and I could tell you that it's the most fun you could get for your money. I owned a 2004 GTI VR6 and a 2006 Audi A4 2.0 all cars with a manual transmission and all at 200hp. The Sentra is faster than the GTI but slower than the Audi. The only disadvantage is that the handling is pretty bad on the SPEC-V....As a car lover I could say that it's still lots of fun to drive.

  • @nutajoke Handing is pretty bad? Me thinks that's driver error.

  • @4G63PWR im thinking the same thing man. Japanese car makers usually fine tune suspension to perfection. If he cant drive it then thats his problem. I just bought a used 2008 one and so far I love it. Cant wait to put it to a real test on the track soon

  • it is great value... but my advice.. work alittle bit harder. spend the extra 4 grand on a GTI. same power but much better handling. the mazda speed 3 torque steers like a pig so it cant put its power as well as the vw. too bad for nissan they were very close at getting it right.. but hey for 21k this is still real good value.

  • Anybody who says the MS3 torque steers has never driven an MS3. It has a DSC control system to limit power in 1st and 2nd gear if wheel spin is detected. Practically eliminates torque steer all together. I'll agree thiugh a FWD car would not be my first choice for a performance oriented car seeing as I drive RX-7's but an MS3 is top on my list for fun DD

  • that's fact hondas don't have any torque the only reason the si civic has 197 hp is because its high redline so the only one that ignorant is you

  • If I'm gonna spend $22K on a "performance" FWD car, I'm gonna buy a Mazdaspeed 3. 263hp and 280lbs/ft of torque for $22k. It would run circles around that bananna and look better doing it

  • wow, your stupid cause the mazdaspeed3 is NOT 22K

  • Wow you're a stupid Honda fanbois who doesn't know how to read or research. The Speed 3 starts at $23,410 before incentives and bargaining. I've seen people drive them off the lot for $21k. Grow up, VTAK isn't god

  • ya really haha, ff cars have a horrible disavantage compared to 4wd and rwd.

  • What about the Ford Focus RS? That is faster than a Mustang.

  • and one year after your MS3 would broke down!!! end of ur happiness!!!

  • Broke down? Sorry, I know how to take car of my vehicles where they don't break down. I'd like to think I'm mrchanically incline seeing as how I took a complete car, yanked the motor, radiator, and oil cooler out, changed oil pans, had it swapped into another car, wired and running in less than 12 hours. Plus warranties kick ass

  • crap ! mustang rule

  • This must be the best bang for the buck under $20k. No other car can run 0-60 in 6.5 sec for under 20k.

  • honda rules!!! vtec is not an extra thing they need to compete; it is the power itself.

  • All companies use a similar version of vtec, others just make it less pronounced.

Honda's DOHC VTEC system uses a slight dip right before crossover to make the switch to the high cam more dramatic. Look at any DOHC stock dyno you will see it.

Which is why once you tune it, that dip goes away and the kick vtec usually gives goes away but the car is quite a bit faster even if it doesn't feel it.

  • He's KIDDING. My SER-V does 0-60 in 5.97. Cops don't see me, 85MPH all day.

7.2 sec 0-60? HAH! LOWBALLED to fool countries where they TAX HP & "can't handle the truth" Car MUST make 235HP moving 2997 lbs. that fast. 5.97 thru 2nd gear, just drive it like you stole it.

15000 miles old expect 37 MPG in 6th at 55-60 (high test) 33.7 MPG (regular) 28-29.5 around town. 0-20W oil, Fram filter, tires 44 pounds all way round.

    Lateral G's? .97-1.02.

    Nissan's best kept pocket-rocket secret.

  • ma friend got one and i drove it aint that bad ittz a fun car 2 drive they made to b a civic si killer my friend has one one too id take sn si plus itz faster

  • i would get this for 20k thats freaken good

put a nice exhuast and im good

  • the car performs yes.. but it just doesnt look as good as it used too...the first gen SER looked the best by far.....

  • Why would you compare a 300 HP 4.6L V8 muscle car to a 200 HP 2.5L 4 Cyl. tuner? Thats like comparing apples and oranges. Are you some pissed off GTI owner or something?

  • Hes referring to the Volkswagen GTI.

  • Lose the helmet.

  • what an idiot this guy, he cant decide what the specs really are

  • Poolios

  • boring vid

  • I'll buy this for $15K.

  • The hp only went up by 25 My 2003 has 175 for the spec-v, 165 for the regular ser. I think the 2003 was better looking. but thats just my taste.

  • nice review of reliable cars.

  • i miss the old school se-r.. early 90's model with the SR20 engine.. soo much potential with those cars.. miss them alot..

  • 07 Spec-V = Gay Sex

  • Nissan way better than Honda. Who cares about Civic Si?

  • ya, not to mention the torque is way better on the Nissan, but still not as impressive as V-Dub's GTI with 207 lbs' of torque!

  • GTI MKV has a turbo thats why

  • ive driven both a nissan and a honda... i must say the honda's engine is more reliable, and it just sounds better

with the nissan, the engine sounds like its gonna break apart, its more rough compared to the honda's... hondas are high pitched, and they just sound beautiful lol

  • agree with ya 100% man :)

  • your kidding..honda got vtec.thats the sound you hear over 5k rpm..it needs that extra kick just to compete with other cars...honda are for pussies...i used to own a rsx type s...and i tell ya its sucks compared to my spec v.i eat si's and type s alive..

  • u eat Si's and type S's ?

u never had an rsx type s....u dont even know what ur talking abt

vtec engages at 5800 rpms ... it needs extra kick ? dohc ring a bell ?

  • yea stupid extra kick... it opens the extra valves in order to feed more air and fuel into the car to produce that kick and i know it opens at 58k idiot..i owned one! try disengaging that vtec selenoid and race a spec v.

  • why race with single cam ?

u from mars or something ?

    ooooh 58k idiot ? u mean 5.8k idiot

  • haha! Im with navil100 on this one.

Khmerboiracer. You dont really know what your talking about. Vtec engines are one of the best in the world for a reason!

  • lol, i love how khmerboiracer talks like he so high and mighty...just about every car manufacturer has some sort of vtec engine..and its a very smart way to get perfect powerband through all rpm's, but keep talking like u know everything

  • Everyone.

  • never really thought that a sentra could be faster then a civic si

  • why would you want understeer, in a FWD?

  • exactly what i thought

  • looks like a baby altima. i like the generation spec v before this one much better in the looks deptartment

  • Sentras have always been ugly so I'm not sure why anyone is so offended by its looks. There isnt nor has there ever been anything about Sentra se-r's that made them stand out from any other sport compact. Styling=always bad, performance=midrange at best, quality=again, not winning any contests and price=never been the cheapest. Bottom line, its just continuing its legacy as the most boring "performance" compact car in existence.

  • I have the base model 2007 Sentra and love it. There is nothing boring about it, and it can handle even the deadliest back roads. /shrug I have no problem with mine

  • i never knew the car had specv, THE NEW SER WITH SPECV

wat a guy, he said the old car ser has 170 torque, i thought it was 155, at the end he says with about a 100 bucks of horsepwer, wat does that mean actually? LOL

  • old spec v has 180 ft lb of torque, 175 hp. and its $100 per horsepower. The cost of the car. You have never heard that ratio before? Most car mags and reviews tell you the cost per horsepower so you can compare.

  • $100/per horse power

  • why do people keep saying "they should have added a turbo" that would jack up the price. plus you can always do that yourself. As far as the new look I didn't like it at first but its starting to grow on me, needs to be lowered I think.

  • I also don't like what they did to the Maxima either. The only one that I like better than the previous generation is the Altima.

  • hahaha that thing looks like a flying brick

  • i have an '03, and all i have to say is the new ones look absolutely stupid. get an 03, put some DC sport heads, custom cat back, and an AEM cold air, and you'll have just over 200hp. And you're car will look cooler.

  • Agreed. And could they have made the new one look anymore like a damn Prius?!

  • i owne a 02 ser =p, the new ser's are gay only 20hp difference from 02, the 02 ser had the skyline grill

  • save ten grand over a gti????? gti is only 22 grand. same price.

  • GTI price as tested in Road and Track comparison test was 30k. GTI starts at 22k, probably doesnt come with a steering wheel.

  • Ugly Car

  • there should have been a twin turbo on that engine. nissan didnt improve much. they should have like a spec v nismo edition or something. all hooked up to the highest level with a turbo-charged engine. but 02 spec v's looked like a street racer car this looks like a family car now. its ass. nissan fucked it up this time. BIG

  • I agree the older spec-v is nicer, but twin turbo? Considering the VAST majority of Nissan's sales on the sentra are on the base models, and only a few people are willing to dish out the bit extra for the spec-v, do you really think it'd be worth it for Nissan to put all that money into the development of a Twin Turbo Sentra that'd cost at least $10000 more than the model below it?

  • And what do you mean they didn't improve it much? How many manufactures improve a model by 100+ hp from one year to the next? Think about it....

  • i don´t undersatnd people that complain about the new Sentra design. There are uglier cars out there. For example, there we have the VW Corolla (Jetta) GLI. It is ugly as hell!!! ... it seems like a fat woman with a desproportionated ass!!

  • I thought i was the only one that ever noticed the resembling between the new jetta and the corolla its weird i wonder if they are sharing the same chassis

  • Not a bad car for the price, quality video as well we need more videos like this out there!

  • that's really cool, the SE-R has gotten faster but I think the older model looked better

  • notice how they don't compare this car to the old spec v. probably because it's the same motor and same piece of crap. nissan should've added a turbo.

  • at least it look a little better than the older POS sentra.

  • nah, the 02-03 spec v looks hella better

  • eh, as far as the "same motor" goes, it's still a QR25, but it's been revamped completely. so i guess u could call it a QR25 Version 2.0.

but yea, a turbo would've been soooo nice. that finally would've given nissan a car to go against the WRX/SRT-4. not to mention, it would've given it a huge advantage over its main rival the Civic Si.

  • nice thanks for the video
