This is the only anime that still makes me tear up. Most people think of FLCL as some crazy, nonsensical, experimental, avant-garde show that's just super fun and entertaining, which it is, but it's also so much more than that. It's really a statement on the human condition, on what it means to grow up in a society that has no place for you, a society where you just don't fit in. And it makes that statement in the most tender and heartfelt way, as epitomized by this great and wonderful scene.

I think this whole sequence makes this series. It captures all of the emotions, tensions, and ambitions from the whole series and then lets it all burst out and disappear.
