i was bitten by a leech when I visited india. I didn't feel anything except minor itching. I remember how I panicked and started hitting it shoes. Leeches have strong grip n you can't kill it by squashing, it's rubbery. All I had to do was to relax n slowly walk back n sprinkle some salt over it. The leeches only drink a small amount of blood so how could that remove impurities from the rest of your blood? It's not much different from when people used to bleed people to let the poison out.
