I love RA but this was not a good workout. Sorry. She is clearly not happy and doesn't have her mind on running. She's not pulling the rider she's fighting him. And she's looking around a lot- ducking in and out wither because she's distracted or she's just not interested or worse she's upset. She needed to be able to stretch out her stride to totally involve those muscles and build strength and she's not doing that. She needs to be worked more often, and in company.
I can't believe she came in second in a 5-horse field today. She started so strong. I thought she'd hold on at the end. Either way it was a nice day at the Fairgrounds.
Why does Zenyatta's trainer need to try Rachel Alexandra out with Zardana, an older mare?
I guess he's not confident enough in Zenyatta. Is he trying to 'tire out' Rachel Alexandra before the AB race? He knows Rachel Alexandra hasn't worked out enough. I hope she doesn't get sick.
Rachel seems to be ready for the New Orleans Ladies. She ran 13th fastest out of 105 workouts Monday (see this video) without looking like she was even trying. A couple of fillies she is facing this coming Saturday are very good horses, but they are not in the same league as Rachel. Rachel is (currently) the 1-5 favorite.
you do have a beautiful voice! Thanks for posting these! I've been scouring the net looking for these works. Good music choice. Do you think Rachel is ready for the Apple Blossom?
@cindaflame. I hope so. It's difficult to say whether Rachel is ready for the Apple Blossom. Jess Jackson and Asmussen have repeatedly said they do not think Rachel is 100% and I agree. She will need 100% if she's to face Zenyatta. But since the Apple Blossom is one month away, we will just have to see how she comes out in her next race. Alas, I don't think anyone knows because there are always many uncontrollable factors in horse racing. (P.S. Thank you for your kind words about this video!)
