A Down Draft Stratified Gassifier? Are you sure that's what it is. I thought it was a batch fed, slow, useless, non-viable, non profitable exploding gas box. Built out of spare parts from the Tin Man by the Scare Crow and Cowardly Lion. Think outside the box guys. You at the most rudementary form of this technology. Think continual flow.
How about maybe using a rocket stove type design to enable the use of unit with out any type electricity? Mainly because, in a "societial breakdown" there would be a "grid" break down as well. Yes, solar could be used, but not really practical for a "spare of the moment, all hell just broke loss" like what will be in store when (and maybe" if "for the clueless) a society as we know it collapse happens.
I made one like this one.But i used 2-7 gallon propane tanks.I made my own auger out of some 3/32 sheet metal and a 2inch hole saw.Drill out 6 or 7 rings with the hole saw ream out the center hole to 1/2inch then cut with tin snips from outside to the center twist a little and tack weld them end to end until you have your Leigh then tack weld to 1/2inch rod.
im not sure if this will help but blakewells66 made a auger out of a treadmill moter for his home made pellet stove. keep up the good work looks great 5 stars
Hi Gents. Great progress has been made over the time frame you've posted videos. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with the outputted energy. P.S. I'd also be interested trade discussions.
Don't know if your question has been answered, but it comes out as a gas and there is no need to make it into a liquid. Just pump it into the carborator(sp?) of your choice and go with it...
you commented on the first gasifier video and i hit remove instead of reply when i tried to answer. sorry.
we are using an automotive heater fan to create the suction for the gasifier. it provides about 11/16ths of an inch of water suction, which is comparable to .025256 psi...not very much pressure.
The cubic feet per minute i do not know, but will try to test it this weekend.
Could you make a tutorial video or plans for your gasifier generator so that I could apply this to help power rural areas in need of electricity but could not afford to buy fuel for the generator. I'll be waiting foryour reply.
Great job guys! I always love watching your videos. I just made the switch away from the blower to an ejector and I couldn't be happier. If you have an air compressor this is the way to go, and you can create a forge quality flame.
The pulley system is very nice as well.
Keep up the good work. Check out my video called Gasifier Performance Increases. I show how the progression from stratified to Imbert to insulated Imbert and the temps.
Some day we want tape a discussion about use and application for gasifiers in a small-scale, co-gen, energy/food system. This one of our purposes for the gasifier project.
nice to know what a Stratified Biomass Gasifier is

I love the idea of the auger(the spinny thing to remove char?). Especially with the heat switch idea. Good stuff.

Victory Gas is also top notch and is the only source I know of that actually has plans and a gasifier kit that can be purchased.
Do you have future plans to make an all in one instructional dvd on how to replicate your work? If reasonably priced, I would be a customer.
Would your cooling tower work with Victory Gas's Woody Gasifier?
fleaone2000 2 years ago
Great Video, very informative and clever design. I was wondering if the woodgas exits the generator as a gas or liquid?
if it comes as a gas do you know how to make it a liquid?
thanks I probably sound like a retard to you but im just learning this stuff lol
