@nextigger Yeah. It too me forEVER to put it together. And I was listening to that track one day.....Then put on the "Players" and I was like. "...Oh shit!" lol
RIP J Dilla. Once again the genius of Dilla is shown. He was light years ahead of most producers. Even though he's been gone for a min. his music still impresses the shit out of me. I think the man above wanted him for a beatmaker. We still have Madlib, Pete Rock, Premier, J Rawls, 9th Wonder, MF Doom, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Kankick, Cut Chemist, and Numark. Just to mane a few.
@cantaleDein lololol wat u mean someone finally realized, niggas been knew this, and anyone who didnt look into the dilla samples, thatz they fault hahah but the rest of my beat junkies kno wats good
Haha...i find it so amusing that some folks get uptight over people clicking the dislike button on something that obviously doesnt deserve it...relax folks..they do it to piss you off. NOW!!!...lets listen to this track over and ovar and ovar, and over, and over....the sample was gold in itself.
I listened to what he sampled and it's amazing!!!! I showed it to my mother who is over 50 and she thought it was dope...he wasn't just a loss to hip hop he was a loss to music....RIP Dilla may your inspiration live on to bless others!
My brother's basslines sound a lot like this. But I don't know if he was hiding out on my about dilla because I didn't hear squat about Dilla till after he died. Now we are both OFFICIALLY DILLA-FIED!!!
one of the greatest beats dilla produced. i remember when i first heard fantastic vol.2 it was something fresh and unique and different from the other stuff that was out there, even though at that time there was alot of innovative and kool stuff, remember co-flow before they slip up and el-p made lame music. SV was part of a very special era in hiphop that unforturnetley didn't last for more than 3 years.
@grimm1onee yeah, saying that it doesnt say player defeats the purpose of the beat, so keep that shit to your self, let other people look it up on there own,
@grimm1onee LOL GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE, nigga you grounded, get off the computer before i tell you momma when i see her tonight, YOU GROUNDED..GO TO YOUR ROOM cuz.
Four Dislikes?? Four people got a hold of some bad weed.Four people didn't have their bifocals on and mistakenly clicked dis-like. Four people got ear wax build-up....but probably... Four people SUCK !
RIP Dilla i got up on u late my brotha. as a fellow producer i dig yo shit. i was so stuck on pete rock erick sermon and dj premier i didnt check for anyone else for a moment.
After you listen to the original, you can clearly hear the sample is saying "Claire", and it's almost like a mistake or some kind of psychology that Dilla heard "play". Some would say that's because Dilla wasn't smart and it's some foolish error that producers in hip hop do all the time with samples, but I personally think it's genius. Shows us that music is truly freeform and that although it may be the same "waveform" or same song, it can transform itself just by intention alone.Hip hop 4ever
@Ryz0n89 i dont think it was a mistake... i think he knew it said claire but he could chop it up after the hard c sound and title it player and people would here that
@Ryz0n89 I do it with samples for example...."love was meant for you" I could title it "love was mean for two" they call it the 'third ear' producers do it all the time.
@Ryz0n89 At the time of this song, Dilla was beefing w Proof from Slim Shady's crew and Proof's girlfriend's name at the time was????? Yeah, Claire. Soooo, def on the genius side.
it's in Lil Wayne's glass jar at home, he smoking trees and saying to it: "Take dat nigga! Take dat! Aahhhahahahahahahahahaha...you dead nigga, DEAD! I killed yuh fam!"
This beat sound like steam coming from the sewer lids and factory buildings on a cloudy winter morning in inner-city wherever. (London, Detroit, Baltimore, NY etc.)
checked every remake of this on youtube, some was nice but not like his, not to mention every other 1 says claire clearly and the sample is just looped i swear every chop in this sample is custom and not just a loop of the sample not to mention his is saying player and he danced all over the sample and snare clap with that bassline, dilla is the greatest producer of all time period!!!! im still scratching my head at how the fukk he did alot of his creations
@dyzzy412 dilla is my fav producer. i think that guys like premo and pete rock, rza etc. are technically better when you look at impact and such, but i'm not so sure sometimes
@shyshotcaller27 Man, you are absolutely right. Man, I was pissed that he died before I could meet him. I started digging hip hop just shortly before he died (felt like I got deprived out of life).
@shyshotcaller27 fuck no...real heads were bumpin this as soon as it dropped. I don't know who could ever have heard this and not known it was gonna be the best album of the decade.
@shyshotcaller27 I know man I learned about Jay Dee in '08 from a friend Who bought his CD's. I got mad hooked to his shit then went to go see when he was droppin' a new album and found out that he passed... In 06. Man I was depressed for at least a week. The day I read about it I almost cried. Same with Nujabes but I knew about him a lil bit before he passed.
@smash44556677 I was Like that with Kurt Cobain & Nirvana. I had always heard Smells like Teen Spirit and Lithium like everyone else but once i got into the albums, shit changed my life. lol
@shyshotcaller27 I think it takes someone to be gone to realize that person's changed your life because yuu see how life is different without them. For example Im not rocking a J Dilla changed my life tee until I've heard the LAST of his work released, then reflect back on where I started when I was first introduced to him (6th grade, im gonna be a sophomore now) and I think it took until my freshman year to identify myself as a Dilla head.
@shyshotcaller27 I remember asking some friends if they knew who Dilla was. Not a single one said yea, but then I played some tracks by Busta, Common, and Erykah Badu, and they all recognized the productions on it as being superb. Jay Dilla didn't put his name all over the map, he put his beats and THAT is how he was recognized during his life. People knew who he was, not by name but by his snares, kicks, and samples that you can vibe to all day every day.
no homo, but when I think about the genius that went into reworking that sample to sound like "players", and position that against Dilla"s much to short life and brilliant career, I get emotional. Thanks for filling my life with joy, Dilla. You have a fan for life.

I just have to say that J Dilla rocked my life, he truly changed my vision of music, he inspired me everyday, i got to listen his music every time, bad days, good days, i'm always thinking about how he was influent for hip hop, what he gives to us and to me in this particular case, he was a genius, he was ahead of his time, i swear i listen Preemo, Pete Rock, Nottz, Large Pro, 9th, but when i listen to Dilla, my mind is blowing up. Peace to everyone, make your life better everyday. RIP Dawg
Players, It's about that, boom bap, then cheerin for the mass....es, skippin out on classes, re-arrangin for the epic piece of honey with the assets, makin passes, on all the other ones, chubby buns with the slick funding, make a fella straight grunging, punchin, all day on the clock, spittin wisdom physics, a shock to ya system, that's them, the boys with the flap, maybe short on cash but we got the best pack, best to slither with the slack...
@ jimac51 You don't know shit about hip hop because if you did, you would know this is creative what dilla did to the track. The song he did with Slum Village was called players, So he sampled Singers unlimited Claire part and slowed it down . If you listen it sounds like it is saying Players. Also the original song is BOORRRINNGGG !!!
