he didn't pull guard... He tried a suicide throw that failed (may be on purpose but we can't know). Anyway, being brazilian as nothing to do with it. Many judokas across the world practice BJJ or Kosen Judo too.

Brutus is only at the olympics because he lives in a small country with few judokas.

I personally have had my arm in worse positions than that and if I cannot twist it out so that I can turn my elbow to the side giving him no leverage... or If he really has good leverage on my elbow, then I tap... Don't forget the upheaval in the judo world when the Soviet bloc countries got involved. Their melding of sambo/folk wrestling style techniques and unorthodox grips really changed things.
