  • Why do people video their television screen? And people laugh me for still listening to records and tapes! At least I have never videoed a TV screen!

  • Jay Sandrich was one of the directors on this sitcom also,WOW! He directed some of THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW,SOAP,THE COSBY SHOW and the Chevy Chase-Goldie Hawn-Charles Grodin comedy movie SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES.

  • RIP Marion Mercer

  • Show about women and the writers last name is Beavers? LMAO!

  • yes! i want this show on dvd! beats all the crap on tv today!

  • Ohhhhhh, the ill-fated Crystal Bernard phase. :-/ She ruined A LOT of shows (Happy Days, IAL, Wings, etc.).

  • No Happy Days had the ultimate killer of a good show when Ted McGinley signed on for the last few seasons.

  • @markxxx21 I was wondering what happened to ann jillian, my dad hada thing for her but hated this show with a passion. He was not a big comedy fan.

  • I know, Louise Lasser-ooops sorry Louise! thanx

    lo

  • This was a good show even when Jillian left. She was replaced by, was it Ralph? Her last name was Ralph? i liked the interplay between the M'd (Mercer) and the chef ( Stahl). And the piano player (Sonny Mann?) was a chick hound, the girls all turning him down. Good show.

  • Would they serv the Munsters here ?

  • Like the angels I have to do roll call please of the Above the top Resteraunt waitresses; LOIS, CASSIE, DOT, JAN, VICKI, and oh my gosh what was CRYSTAL BERNARD'S character-AMY?? name & GINGER ST. JAMES, & of course NANCY BEBE, MARIO, DENNIS, HOWARD and SONNY, the lounge piano player and SUNNI, the bartender occasionally.

  • Don't forget my favorite, the immortal Maggie McBurney!

  • Thanks for posting I loved this show as a kid! Wish they still made goofy sitcoms like this. I also wish it were on DVD. Keep the clips coming

  • Boy this show had star power, the immortal paul kreppel and the incomprable Barrie Youngfellow as "Jan" wonder what they are doing now? stand up at the comedy store in hoboken or maybe a permanent celebrity on some game show on cable TV classic comedians in evry sense of the word

  • Oh my gosh, I remember watching this show all the time when I was 10. I really wanted to be a waitress!! (I'm glad I didn't though..I'm a klutz! :) ).

The intro where they're all walking together reminds me of Sex and the City, except they seem much classier

  • I totally forgot that this had more than 2 seasons. Crystal Benard! I totally forgot. Wasn't it called 'Making a Living' first? Or, did they change it to that later? At some point it was called 'Making a Living', yes?

  • In 1980-81 it was called "It's a Living". In 1981-82 they changed it to "Making a Living". ABC then cancelled it. It returned from 1985-89 as "It's a Living" once again.

  • Ann Jillian

  • This intro looks familiar. I started watching this season. My favorite episode was the murder mystery when the lights went out.

  • YES! that is one of my faves as well. I have that on VHS.

  • I loved the theme song. I used to walk around my house singing it as a kid.

  • This show needs to be on DVD.

  • Damn skippy,it does!

  • i work in an office building like that one

  • God I wish this show was on DVD

  • all of the seasons
