He the reason why I practice my ass off on the guitar 8-10 hours a night. People who think he was better in the 90's are full of shit. His style is pretty much the same...he never incorporated hybrid picking into his album/live solos very much (except no rest for the wicked and maybe a few other songs) and he's always stuck to pentatonics. Im just tired of people bustin on zakk than acting like Slash doesn't just solo in Eminor every fucking time. thanks for the upload Sharpy

Personally, I think he's drinking too much, too long, and its making him numb. Being all about beer is cool when you're 19, but keep it up, and alcohol will steal your soul and leave you just another bum. Careful, Zakk.

I gotta think that a musician of Zakk's calibre understands the danger of mixing too much alcohol with his profession. It wouldn't surprise me if the "beer" he's drinking on stage is nothing more than water in a bottle or can simply for the purpose of maintaining an image. He is, after all, a father of 2 and a husband of many years to the same woman. He's seen first hand what drugs and booze can do to a human being (having played with Ozzy for so long) and probably has a healthy respect for it.

@muscletruckdude Bro, I totally agree with you 1000%. Bring back Pride and Glory I say. And IMO, Book of Shadows was the GREATEST acoustic rock album EVER made. I reckon it was the boozing that clouded his musical genius. I'm keen for the new album to see if anything changes.

The biker image is pretty tiresome and I'm well and truly over it...but having said all that...he is still the king of pentatonic shred!

I was there as well, and he gave a great performance. Which is much more important than hitting every note. Great weekend!! Thin Lizzy was the band I enjoyed least, Pig Iron the band I enjoyed most. Never seen Zak or BLS live but count myself lucky to have seen him here.

i was at HRH and Zakk played for the fans he is no doubt a great guitarist and that was an amazing solo love it from start to finish the reason i was there was to see Zakk and B.L.S and i wasnt disappointed, yeah some of his solo work has more structure but this was live he could basically do what he liked, but everyone has thier own opinons

I do feel sorry for Zakk, I have seen him live more times than i can count. It seems now that his drinking and the 'not giving a fuck' attitude has taken a major toll on his playing. He's great to watch and to the non guitar player that can easily come across as "wow he's still an amazing player". But this is a false pretense. His playing is suffering (clearly here), its scratchy, lazy, he's slipped in the rankings year by year and all because the alcohol has taken priority, such a shame :((

I love Zakk, but it seems like the solo has no substance. It's empty, just thrash, Zakk is awesome. But it's almost like he just goes up there and plays without a beginning or end to the solo. Just jumps right into it, Zakk is arguably the best guitarist of our generation. But it seems like this solo is a bit dry.
