I don't support the Westboro Baptist Church, and no the bible is not a pile of shit. I don't share all the beliefs that are in the bible, but on the matter of gay rights, it is very cut and dry. In Sodom and Gommorah fire and brimstone were rained upon the two cities for their attempted gay rape of two angels. They were deemed sinful cities and were destroyed. This also means these stories were influenced by culture of that time period which is now mistaken for God's words. People changed religion over time and now it's just stuff people made up and is full of hypocrisy. Many religions have lost sight of the true meaning of religion. God doesn't hate gays. It is people like this that give Christianity its bad reputation. As crazy as it sounds, Christians are just as cold-hearted, hateful, and judgmental as anyone else, with one exception. We believe that God exists and sent his only son to die for their sins. Believing this gives us Christians an understanding of how we should treat others, emulating God's love and mercy. But sadly, humans are imperfect, and this is an example of how a group of people is struggling to love others like God loves us
