  • Tal was the greatest attacking chess player. His brilliancy transcends the spirit of what chess is all about. It is about creating something out of nothing , and that can only take place between people not machines. His games are mesmerizing and as brilliant the other world chaps were , Tal was the most inspiring and probably inspired Fischer and Kasparov.

  • A great man and chessplayer. He would no doubt had been world champion longer had it not been for bad health.

  • Tal il migliore giocatore degli ultimi 100 anni, purtroppo non supportato da una buona salute. Viva Tal.

  • A wonderful chessplayer and person.

  • Thank you Misha! Thank you for make me happy through your lively and amazing games! I am pretty sure that all the chessfans in the world love you as chessplayer and as good human being.

  • My tears flowed upon seeing this. The moral of Tal's life is that HEALTH IS THE TRUE WEALTH.

  • he chosse,

  • .....I went to see him on his deathbed...and i'm only thirty!

    i couldn't resist.

  • Could you please answer a few questions?

One, wasn't Tal a very short person?

Second, wasn't he deformed on his right hand?

    Third, wasn't he Jewish?

    Thank you!

  • @legalrule 1. "short" is relative. 2. Yes, he had a deformed right hand. You rarely get to see it in photos because he was very self conscious about it. 3. Not sure if he was Jewish, but seems like I've heard that too

  • @cibrashers

    Thank you for the info!!

Yes! He was Jewish I just got the info from a Rabbi! I think he was one of the all time greats too bad he was stuck in Russia where the state controlled the game.

    Take care

  • Vladimir Troshin "Ya skazal tebe ne vse slova" (I didn't tell you all my feeling (word))

  • Misha, I lack the words to properly describe what your games and legacy mean to this humble and mortal follower of the path you lightened. Your chess jewels will forever be proof that God walked among us and decided to taught us how to play chess. Honor and glory to you, Misha! Chess pieces live and breathe through your games. Thank you for your legacy!

  • @CubanColonel

Well said! His life was so full of chess, and his chess - so full of life! There will never be another like him. Perhaps he is lighting up the heavens with his heavenly combinations, playing all the past masters, and who knows, maybe God himself!

  • what is the name of this cool song!!?

  • "szachowy zapiecek"

  • What's the name of the song?

  • One of the greates. Nice video. Well done.

  • his best attacks came out of thin air.

    AIR.

I would spend hours looking at some of his moves and wonder what I was looking at.

    Amazing

  • One cannot have a gain without a loss...

long live the memory of Mischa!

  • "My head is filled with sun." Those were his words when he became WC. Our hearts are filled with the sun of your games Micha!

  • The Picture at 0:41 was that Bobby Fischer standing there with suit and tie. I think i heard that he paid a visit to Tal when he was sick

  • Oh well guessed ! It's a typical posture of Fischer's :-)

  • I think 'I have the full picture in the book on 1962 Curacao Candidates, it is of fischer's visit to Tal in hospital, I cannot be sure but I think actually Tal is sitting on the bed and they looking at Fischer's lucky win vs Benko from the 3rd cycle . The guy in the tie is a doctor I think!

  • Yeah you're right. That guy is smaller and stockier than Fischer :-)

  • In this video, besides chess it makes me realize how important it is to have good health/exercise. Tal would have given us much more magic on the chessboard if it werent for the dumb alchohol and smoking. Rest in Peace great one

  • In fact I think not.Tal would not be Tal without the smoking and drinking habits or the night life...

He was a unique player and a unique person.Even Botvinnik could not really find something bad about him. And,considering Botvinnik's character, that is saying something

  • @samirhossain Although drinking and smoking are definitely not trademarks of healthy living, I don't think that was what did him in... I could easily be wrong, but I can assume it might have had a lot to do with genetic conditions and other factors.

  • @gotaids no you hipster asshole, its well known that drinking and smoking killed him.

  • @laputadetumadre11 What about my post led you to believe that I was a "hipster asshole?" Or do you just add whatever descriptors you find most fun to your sentences? I may have been misinformed, but you are clearly a dickwad.

  • @laputadetumadre11 Tal was sick even in his youth, look at his kidney operation in 1961, well before the effects of smoking and drinking really set in

  • mikhail was an artist

  • That tombstone at the end was pretty depressing.. That's awaiting us all! Well, no use in worrying if it's inevetable. on with the show.

  • It is amazing how this is his favorite song which has a very simple beautiful feeling to it and his moves at board made u think that 2+2 is 5 !

  • Mikhail Tal is one of the greatest chess player of all time.He stood among the flood of identikit grandmasters produced by the Soviet Union after the second world war as the supreme ataacking genius and beat the brainy Botvinnik for the World Championship in 1960 in one of the great upsets. Nice Vid!:)

  • That's quite unfair to say all the Soviet Grandmasters were the same.Personally,I can sense noticeable differences between Botvinnik,Smyslov,Petrosian,Bronstein or Spassky

  • Beautiful Song!

    Who knows her name?

  • It's called "я сказал тебе не все слова" [ya skazal tebe ne vse slova] (= I didn't tell you all the words / I didn't tell you everything).

Unfortunately I don't know the name of this particular artist.

  • Tal #1

  • Moving video, What is the name of the song?

  • He's my favorite player too. Thanks!

  • A brilliant video, a fitting tribute to the great man. He is still my favourite player.

  • Well...i should;ve said 'he was' insted of he 'he is' since he is no more now physically, but he will live for ever in our memories by the magical games sacrificail and attacking Games he has played over the years.!! RIP Oh Great One

  • Misha is the Greatest Attacking Genius of all Time!!

  • O my God he was great . . . Im affected this music and Tal are very beautifull combination . . . Where can I find this music please I cant stop crying . . .

  • Tal basically looked like a walking, dead zombie during his later years...sad

  • professor its sad how u r stupid

  • it's sad how your bitch ass can suck my dick...I told you I give Mikhail Tal all the respect as a chess player in the world but I'm not lying when I say he really does look the walking dead in his later years.

  • Thanks for posting. He shouldn't be overlooked as one of the greatest. Cool guy.

  • There may be a handful of stronger players with more solid styles. But there will never be a more passionate chess magician than the immortal Tal.

    Rest in peace great one.

  • A very poignant film of my favourite player.

  • Tal was one of the greatest chess player together Alekhine! They are the top of skill chess and their masterpieces will be remember foe ever

  • I agree to you.. he is one of the greatest in the world..

  • Superb song!! Can anyone tell me about the song, who wrote, who sang etc!! The song makes us go back to the time when Tal was alive and playing chess like noone ever did, sacrificing everything for checkmate!

  • At last! I am so glad that this tribute video has been made for Misha. Without a shadow of a doubt the greatest attacking player of all time. His sacrafices were not always sound but they were always beautiful. RIP Misha the world of Chess will never forget you.

" To study the games of Tal is to study the face of God" Kramnick ( paraphrased).

  • Could you tell me more about the song? Name, reference, author, history, and why Tal love it, thank you very much.

  • He will never be forgotten in the chess world. As for his drinking and smoking.. Europeans do that (just like most any other place). Beer or wine is a common drink along with one's dinner. It's new to my ears that alcohol and cigarettes is what -killed- him.

  • Drinking along with dinner is onee thing while having a "lust" to drink is quite another.Tal will remain a legend to me forever only and only for his brilliant mind.Just take a look at that last pics,he is about 55 and looks like 70...

  • It is a pitty that such a genius destroyed both his chance of being a long-time world champion and his health buy smoking and drinking...

Anyway, his name will live forever:Mikhail Tal,the magician from Riga!

  • He was seriously ill before he began smoke and drink. People usually think alcohol and cigarettes destroy great spirit and genius. But what it destroy them it is lucidity, alcohol and cigarettes are just a way to appease lucidity.

  • muy muy emotivo Gracias

  • tal...he had a sharp technique and interesting game style.ı think it was very hard to be a world champion with this game style.

  • Fine, thank you.

  • rip tal

  • Very nice video, thanx a lot
