I think you do a good job, but like almost every other youtube version of this song you are so underestimating the middle part! You play it predictible and without feeling, while the rest of the song is played so amazing! Here is my version of only the middle part, just to show you what you could have done with that: watch?v=fTV5FK4iuzQ
Well, I believe the song from Ok Computer (buy it instantly if you don't own it!) is 7 mins or so on the album which shows this is fast. But still senational and beautiful. Kudos to Tom Yorke and the guys I guess! Also YOU, this is an assured version of a masterpiece of Radiohead's. And MASTERPIECE is not hyperbole! Since 1996, this song has had me adoring RH.
I don't mind the speed really, the performance is just the sickest thing in the world! My favourite song since 1997 and to hear such an accomplished piano (the most superior instrument) performance as has been said, is mind-blowing!
Does anyone else's heart race and you get chills from this? :O ENCORE!!!
Can you upload this video? I don't know, in megaupload or something.....Or maybe can you send this vid to my email? because my dream is to learn this song you know, but this version.....Can you? Please?
Hey there, Just so happens this little Creep and weirdo adores RH and also the piano so the marriage is mind-blowing. P.A. was the song that ignited my passion for RH in 1996 (at 16/7) and this recital is one of the single-most remarkable things I've ever heard.
You ought to release a pastiche/tribute to the phenomenon of this legendary band with ability such as yours, I'd be first in the queue! :D
dude...usually people post covers of other peoples covers and they suck THIS IS AMAZING.CONGRATS..the hard work you put in paid off..and is also appreciate by many people
i really love this cover! hopefully i'll be able to play it like this one day. love the other radiohead covers too, you should get some more up soon :)
HOLY FUCK A SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is impressive as hell... at first it's like... yeah ok I have heard this before, the chords with the vocal melody. But when he gets into Johnny's guitar stuff, it's like... ummmm are you human? Like seriously... IMPRESSIVE AS HELL... I am a jack of many instruments but a master at none. Piano is my most recent, and this humbles me as I will never get to this level... ever. (I am most proficient at guitar). CHEERS! It's brilliant and you know it!
thats awesome. i saw the other guy's video too and it was great as well. how the heck did you learn just from a video? could you post the notes or sheet music something? :)
cheers indieshimmy. well, I downloaded thumphrey05's vid and gradually worked through it till I had a rough transcription and then learned it from there (I've transcribed a couple of other vids of his too, "Nude" and "Street Spirit"). I handed all my notes over to thumphrey05 a few months ago 'cause people are always after him for the sheets for his vids but he does them all by ear (I figured they're more his than mine really :) so, send him a message and he might sort you out...
this is sick and ridiculous. blows my version out of the water and onto dry land!! until I can play like this I will kick and scream like a little gucci piggy. grat job man. kudos-a-million:)
Hey, cheers for that beliefactionnexus! Have to say though, I just checked out your vid and I reckon you're completely under-rating it in this comment :-)
if any of you knew anything about music that thing should be that all that matters is you enjoy the music you play, i mean come the fuck on you all are acting like your comparing dick sizes here. Just ask yourself...do these fags behind a computer screen really matter? do you really have to prove anything to them?
No.
If you cant learn to ignore stupid comments from cum chugging fags like slitheringinterstate you have the option to make it so no one can comment.
pretty cool performance. did you do this arrange? or where did you get the sheets? it's pretty accurate to the actual song and your performance is almost perfect.
Thanks skipintrotheband. No, I didn't do the arrangement, that was thumphrey05 (this vid is a response to his). I downloaded his youtube vid and learned it from there.
In section one, you're not playing 2-handed so much as going BACK AND FORTH from left handed and right handed notes (until the quasi-vocal comes in)...that's what gives it it's MUZAK feel.
SLOW THE FUCK DOWN...just a tick...and play COUNTERRYTHMICALLY with your left hand...in other words, try to represent the drums more with your left hand than the precise progressions.
And TEAR INTO the last sections..it's ez, fat, thick...get Mary G Blige on it, even Thom adds juice to his dirges live.
This is really useful stuff Slitheringinterstate, thanks for taking the time to come back with these thoughts, much appreciated. I'm gonna try bearing these in mind more generally too (beyond just this piece).
You passed my test...which is blasting people critically to see if their egoists, and if they can roll with the punches, concding it was a one sided comments
The truth is, you're not bad...in fact, far better than the average wanker that builds online shrines to their musical mediocrity.
It's VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE to mimmick Jonny's sections on piano because they're bent, atonal runs.
One suggestion though...SLOW DOWN...sink into the mood more, I'll continue my thought..
Just because you're 1 of endless mediocre musicians pedaling your yawnable wares, doesn't mean you have to defend everyone with similar cut-rate talent level as yourself.
For those that don't know, Versal spends his life taping himself feel-lessly butchering sophmoric pieces like "Whirlwind In Autumm", consisting of right-hand octave synchopations and obnoxious runs, since he lacks the talent to play Transcendental Etudes or Oscar Peterson. What a precious boy. (pats head).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh Versal (sets versal on my lap...)
I know you're it's frustrating being such a mediocre talent. I know you wish anybody knew who you were, but alas, nobody does, because there's literally thousands, if not tens of thousands of pianists- some who are children- far, far, far better than you.
I don't post videos, for the same reason you shouldn't; because neither of us have any musical talent.
Now please watch Oscar Peterson and realize what a laughable rookie you are.
Wow slitheringinterstate, you pull no punches, I like it!
Yep, I really wanted to learn this arrangement because I knew it'd be a huge stretch for me and your comments do make a lot of sense, in particular the "outline of a drawing with no color" one (especially since Radiohead's music is so much more than just "the notes"). Good food for thought.
On your suggestion I've been watching a bunch of Oscar Peterson vids - breathtaking...
PLZ!!!! make a lesson video.. couse, i cant follow every step from that angle.. its soo frustrating.. couse i nearly gaot it right!

You're a tool. You're the one on the egotistical high horse, mate.
As for Geelarmin, you're right in commending him for his maturity--an interesting contrast to your blatantly rude and juvenile comments.

Hmmm, another impenetrable defense on your side. First of all, you need a few lessons in spelling and grammar.
vesal 3 years ago
Secondly, there is no way you can get away making comments like that particularly because:
A) You have no videos of your own to even indicate any musical thinking or background.
B) I see from your profile that you have established a certain reputation of being a troll (which also happens to explain all this).
C) I shouldn't have to say this, but Transcendental Etudes are a joke compared to the difficulty of pieces I've played.
D) You haven't passed my test, slithering; you're STILL an asshole.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.
Shit or get off the pot.
It's unfortunate people such as yourself have access to the internet.
Everyone has an opinion, but yours is continuously useless.
Get back to practacing Transcendental Etudes, and do something a bit more productive with your life.
lesterburnham 3 years ago
Truly awful.
It's like the outline of a drawing with no color.
You royally fucked up Jonny's guitar solo and have NO IDEA how to mimmick the ferocity of the loud sections.
In addition, your left hand is fumbly and weak.
You are a little girl player.
Go watch Oscar Peterson, or a correctly done rendition of Litsz' Transcendental Etudes...bum
