Really great track. Labrie on a bad day is still pretty good. He's getting those B notes most of the time. Higher than a lot of vocalists manage on a record let alone live.
James is having an off day in this show, but I have massive respect for him for sticking it through all the way until now. There are other shows in 2004 here on youtube where he was really on form, and others not really, you can't really blame the guy, the vocal rupture and singing 3 hours every night does take its toll on him. On another note, DT should be really play this song more!!
I want to see Russel Allen sing this song. I think he could pull it off it'd just be for kicks. There should be a "An Evening With Dream Theater featuring special guest Symphony X". It could be like 4 hours SX could play for like an hour and a half then dream theater for like 2 hours then the last half hour could be the play this song and Russel Allen comes out and sings this with Labrie. Put it on DVD and CD and it'd be one of the greatest prog events of all time.
As for Labrie's vocals, does anyone know if he has a vocal coach? If he got a good one maybe he'd recover his voice back better. If he already has one, maybe DT could play in a different, lower key so it'd be easier for him to hit the high notes. Rush did it.
Dream Theater is hard to sing. I'd like to see these so-called vocalists that are mainstream/pop try to sing some Dream Theater. They'd fall on their face.
James is an amazing vocalist, but I've never liked how he walks off stage during the band jam sections. I'm a lead singer for my band, I love going into those sections because that is when you can realy work the crowd up and get them going.
Great performance of ACOS but I sincerely fucking hate the stupid circus melody thing that Jordan does at 4:00 and which he ALWAYS does in this song - it totally ruins the atmosphere and feeling of the song. it's not funny, it's just lame :-)
No, it is not, the real version has a different piano/drum fill there. It is very obvious that he does not play the same thing in this video, my dear friend :-)
Are you crazy. Those two are nothing alike to the original EP. That part is from "When the Water Breaks" when Jordan played it with Liquid Tension Experiment.

Poor James, he is really trying, he is thinking: Please don't fuck up, please don't fuck up..

Man, I wish they would play this song more frequently. Such a good, classic DT song.

@OneLeggedPuppies2010 or just fire him, my preferred solution after the role he played in Portnoy's sacking

Both the fills are more or less the same. Wat jordan's playing during those fills is really interesting and it taked a lot of skill to play that
