  • Normally, Megaman goes back when he takes damage. But... He goes back AND UP???

    Hmmm... Maybe you have to cancel the jump code when megaman take damage.

  • Hey can anyone tell me how to access the tutorials on yoyogames? Because I have downloaded a couple of them and I cant figure out how to get the sprites and stuff.

    I know that the files are compessed (zip) files, so do I just extract the files?

  • lol... what a ridiculous question.. you code the thing. Honestly it depends on what you want out of the engine of your software, the media, the graphics, and everything bundled with what you'd call a game is completely incomparable in one universal case if you compare 2 cases. Like I could code a Mega Man game in pure machine code... or heck C/C++... or use Game Maker (which in turn uses GML, which is Delphi under the hood)... or other softwares... it's really hard to compare these things.

    actually, real languages(example: C++, C#, etc.) are the best with wrappers, libraries, etc.

    Game Maker is a starting point but once you get into REAL programming, you realize it is not very effecient.

  • actually just knightteror I like the fangame because it is pretty well done. but knightteror was bieng a bitch about it and saying that the fangames and the actual series sucks badly. That's why his comment was removed. when people remove stuff and leave pieces on thier own people tend to get the wrong idea.

  • you ned to put positive gravity and negative vspeed to make it work but I'd suggest you to read the platformer tutorial that you can find on yoyogame. It's how I learned. Good luck

    Still, very true to the series and really good compared to most Megaman fangames.

  • yep, there is a pro version that you can get by paying but you can do very well with the free version.

  • screw you for being so good in game maker. How come most people don't release their source for gamemaker games? They would be great tutorials for newbies, commented or not.

  • Depends on your level of computer programming. Plus I believe most of the time people don't like their ideas "stolen"

  • Can you make a tutorial on how to make the game scroll, and on how to change the size of the window on which the game is played, and on how to make a player shoot and jump... I know its a lot, but all of the other tutorials don't show how to do that.

  • Have you tried the platform tutorial on the official site? It talks about how to uses views (make the game scroll). This is some pretty basic info that I'm pretty sure you could find in the official tutorials and even the help file. But anyway I usually ignore these requests but since you said you at least tried, I'll pm you with what you need (because I'm no good to make tutorials lol)

  • This is awsome, reminds me of the SNES Mega Man X games in that it's like a whole big screen up until the boss's chamber. Great work, my suggestion would be to see if you could make Snake Man a little harder by making the floor of his chamber kinda irreguler.

  • Yeah I'd loved to but the way I've programmed the little snakes, I could only make the room empty like I did. At that time it was the best I could do, you can even see that many of them are disapearing even before moving up to the wall. I'm sure I could today but I haven't worked on this engine since a long time and I probably never will again.

    Anyway thanks, you are the first one to suggest me to make it harder haha. I thought I was the only one to find my game easy.

  • oh sure, it's hard to explain but you can find a few tutorials on the offical gamemaker site. There is one called Tutorial:platform games that could help you.

  • lol I don't know if he is but me I had been using gamemaker for maybe one or two years when I did this. Now it been more than 5 year since I first used gamemaker so I'm much better than this.

    I know there is much better megaman fangames around here. Just the one made by mixahman(the first to comment) is really better.

  • Seriously? I think the only place I post it was at the old gamemaker community, at the time they were with ezboard. It got like 5 posts. Maybe I reposted it after but I don't remember.
