Not long ago, like 100 years - Arabs were very poor people & they used to come to Indian sub-continent to beg, i think petroleum dollar changed them so much, they even forgot their past. It's a sad matter, Arabs are rich but not productive people, rather wasteful. Exactually poverty isn`t linked to religion. I`m from Jamaica and we have lots of Rastafarian that are very poor financially but are very,very wealth in spirit and freedom.
