I couldn't agree with you more. Skating had already become too much of a jump-off, but with the new scoring system it's becoming a bit boring, too. So many routines look the same, and you can predict what's coming next with the spins. And enough with the catch-foot spirals! Oh how I miss the Kwans, Boitanos and Brownings!

All this fuss over Yuna... Michelle moves me in a way no other skater can. Yes, Yuna is very, very good. But there is something Michelle has that goes beyond words. Michelle is majic.

The best skater in U.S. history to not win a gold medal! MK is the MJ of figure skating! She totally tears up the competition. It's just too bad her performance gets narrowed within the scope of a few men in suits. The medals only represent a narrow view of one group's thoughts. They don't define her as a skater or a person! Michele was the most complete skater I've ever seen. Artistry, technique, skills combined beautifully. I felt she should have won in Nagano. A triple loop combination does not make a program. Her program was complete and more intricate. Nagano was the beginning of the downfall of figure skating. The focus now was only on one thing JUMPING. It's even worst now with this stupid point system. They just run around the ice and jump nonstop. It's awful. They should just call ICE JUMPING.

That was wonderful... Gold or no gold... her passion and emotion on the ice is just amazing and it's what most skaters lack today. I truely believe win or lose, she loves just being out there on the ice.

Word. Bobek was an annoyingly lazy competitor. Nikodinov, who probably had Michelle's work ethic at least, always seemed to choke when it counted, and for some reason, dogged by the skate gods with nothing but bad luck.

She was the last generation of skaters required to do figures which is why she has so much control on her inside to outside spiral. most skaters drop the leg or to a catch foot. the layback free leg position is not pretty but the arch in the back is.

Longevity in US Ladies figure skating is so impressive these days. By far the most competitive of all the disciplines, what she has done with her career is almost unheard of now. She is amazing.
Not as flexible as Sasha Cohen, or as consistent as Katarina Witt, but still is the most complete skater that I've ever seen. Michelle Kwan is - and always will be the best. She has touched us, and made us believe in the human spirit. She is irreplacable.
