@HeadHipHop Eric B interviewed Rakim extensively on his radio show when this album dropped & they mostly reminisced about the past & had a bunch of laughs. You can tell they're both real cool with each other nowadays but for some reason they still haven't come back together! That interview is on here in several different parts because it was so long.
I don't know who Maino is but he did good on his verse, Rakim is always respectful to the game as ever by listening to young artists and helping them on their way to express their messages as he once did.
You say Hannah Montana-i fucking punch you in the face
92% of teenagers have turned to New school and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. Don't let the real hip hop die
Empirical, transcendental, straight-off the dome DOPE-MATIC...Rakim is GOD; he's the zenith, the peak, the high-arching lyricist. Peerless delivery, Ra's style makes any comparison to Nas a moot point: Nas does not have the flow, the inner-eye philosophical stamina to out-verse the R on even his most inspiring day. Moreover, Rakim makes it sound effortless; he's street-wise, strand-up in every way. There's no bigger thief than a bad rap, and whatever Rakim touches is solid gold. Flow Forever
@daboss88100 buddy no probs man it's kool if you like this dude better, but biggie is the most gifted rapper ever period his lyrics & story telling is umatched. he never wrote any lyrics down, just went on the mic and spit his magic. big & pac changed everything about hip hop: the way ppl spoke, dressed etc they had a huge influence on society esp pac. he stood up for blacks respectively, rapped about the struggles in society & opened ppls eyes & hearts to the troubled world we live in. :)
@arnie157 Yes, I agree that everyone is entitled to their OWN opinion, however, we can agree to disagree on a couple points. First, I believe Slick Rick the Ruler was the GREATEST storyteller rap music has ever had, and I also believe your comments concerning Big & 'Pac applies to rap music after 1992....Rap did not BEGIN then, and the man largely responsible for paving the way for THEM cats to eat is RAKIM ALLAH, da God MC...he MADE niggaz get they weight up, lyrically, and raised the bar 2!!
@daboss88100 I disagree slick rick is the greatest story teller ever! I don't think anybody compares to big in that department listen to "I got a story to tell" first half of the song is him rapping about events, 2nd half of the song is him telling his mates the events. Yes I kno hip hop came out BEFORE pac & big, but no other rappers had or ever will have an influence on society than pac who I believe is the best rapper of all time. Thats true about Ra he set the standard for rappers.
@arnie157 Perhaps we will just have to agree to disagree then...but thats what is so great about music and fans of music: you are entitled to your favorites, as well as your opinion...
@arnie157 Biggie is great but its guys like you that are the reason why Biggie is so damn over rated. I can understand Tupac being better but Rakim is way better than Biggie any day. Biggie is more famous for feuding with Tupac and dying early than for his actual musical ability.
people are commenting about MAino, here's a fact Rakim wanted to promote NY MC's and if he wants MAINO on the song (who had a tight verse) who the fuck are we to argue just snjoy a sick ass song
"cuz now I make music for the C-Notes" man... that ain't hip-hop. Sorry for whoever loves this song, but this shit iz garage to his old songs. I had the albums 18th Letter and The Master for years, but I never really sat down and listened to them. This week I been bumpin' them A LOT so I figured I'd check out this album. Well I don't know if u should call ur second name Allah. Let the ALLAH judge him,he is great rapper, doesn't rap about all that dirty stuff, good man, I let ALLAH judge him :)
Rakim Allah is not a great name for a muslim where he is using the most used name of God in his name.. Still he has been and still is hip-hop! \Remember listening to eric B & Rakim that was the old school like Pac said!
@lemondestanous why would you say that Rakim Allah is not a great name for a muslim? Any name bearing the name of Allah would seem to be great. Do you know what or who the Rakim Alllah is?

Made music for those who were real and had real since. Corporate America has created legends through what they sell. Rakim is above that. Not really, this is hot. Personally I think too many people focus on what artists USED to be, if you want the Follow the Leader album then listen to that one or whichever time you liked the him in, but as time goes by things change, his perspective, music in general and so on, so no matter what he wouldn't sound like he did in the 80's or 90's because he aint the same person and the world isn't the same anymore..
i heard the album was average at best, honestly i cant say i would be surprised if it was completely awful, hes been around 20+ years you cant expect someone to really rap that long.
Why Not people sing that long or more. Listen we have to Preserve this Art. I mean Black Sabbath perform on walkers yet people go see them. We gotta get like this
Anyone who thinks Rakim is bad, Shitheads go listen to Wayes A Mili, I wanted to shoot myself after I first heard it, Rakim is the best, the Album is good,
damn this is so good to my ears, rakim is back! its so sad only 7 thousand people have heard this, damn i wish i lived in the 90s when hiphop was fucking amazing. having maino on this track was a stupid move i cant stand maino, rakims verses are bomb though
Yo I had to buy Rakim's new CD "7th seal" da 1st day it came out. All I have to say is, he hasn't sold out once in his career. As a hip-hop follower ever since way back; listening to greats like "Main Source"_"Gangstarr"_"Pete Rock &CL Smooth"..ect...I have to say this cd brings back the 90's griddy rap ALIVE once more. Hip Hop 2day is not the same PERIOD. All of ya's that be hating on this cd, take a listen to it again. you'll change ur mind.!! Rakim u Soldier by heart. Word is Bond!
I just listened to it...Its a good album for sure, but I was expecting tracks with busta rhymes and Jada kiss to be on the album..but stil rakim is still on top of his game though!
Yea you were the first, but I NEVER tire of RAKIM ALLAH the inspirational GOD! I still listen to at least one song from every album. Relevant. That's what he about!! Word to the God.
I like Jay-a lot...really, but I don't like any Emcee better than Ra (God) Kim (within)
Cannibus is nice on another plane close to Ra-but not there...Jay Z flow is smoother than Cannibus', but it ain't mo clever than the Ra! dats what's up!
Ra Jay Cannibus and everybody else...now Dre is nice, and he smooth but he don't do it quite as clever as Jay or Ra, but he's smoother than Cannibus but cannubus would eat Dre up!
wow from some of the comments i guess rakim was right "hating is the naute of man" stop hatin on the microphone fiend hes gonna do his thing, drop this album, and its gonna be bomb
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
have a bad feeling about the seventh seal even know that it is the God he doesnt seem the same cant blame him with all the stuff around him anyway his old stuff will always be out there.
@rclarock...Eric B was the DJ, but bakindadayz Rakim produced most of dem beatz..look it up!

Word is Bond!

this guy will hand Jay - Z his hat!

The over-production shit does not jibe with the R at all. And he doesn't need to collaborate with anybody.
