I don't really understand...O.K, she can't use a cuirass shell because of kyphoscoliosis, but what's stopping her from getting a tracheostomy? The only downside is the inability to speak ALL the time, but you have that ability with a Pass-Muir valve no doubt. I'd rather move around and see the world with the inability to speak at all times then be stuck in that loud outdated technology.
@Xerox6085I By the way "Respironics" is the company which decided to discontinue support and repairs for Iron Lungs, a 750 million dollar company can't build replacement parts.
Do you seriously sleep in an Iron Lung? What is it like? is it comfortable? Is it like sleeping in a normal bed? What does it feel like? PLEASE TELL ME!!! I am SO interested in Iron Lungs!!!
@Eagertman It's terrible. They could at least have a few people on hand to service them until the occupants die naturally. And for most of them, that would only be about 10 years more.
oh man, you don t understand how precious life is when you say something like this. See, Dianne Odell lived more then you will probably ever do. Because she knew how precious it is to be alive after all. She didn't give up so to say... she made the best of it and there were generous and good people who helped her and loved her for what she is. Gosh, this woman Dianne Odell is my hero of the day.
I heard she died recently due to a power failure, may this courageous woman RIP. She should be an inspiration to us all to enjoy life and to not complain.

1) Hold your breath.
2) Copy all of these steps.
3) Go to two other video.
4) Paste it in the comments.
If you can do all of this without breathing you're a good pot smoker

It's disgusting that the company that bought out the original one who serviced the 'iron lungs' refused to continue servicing.

Can you imagine? They might as well send you a letter that says, "We're going to let you die. Sorry!" Unbelievable.
muskie97 2 years ago 3
Wouldn't you get a lot of bedsores by laying in one of these things?
Odieandgarfield 2 years ago 2
i think maybe there are more of us than 30. I sleep in an iron lung since Polio at age 5. I am up and walking by day.
