BUT flight schools use this programme to train pilots as well. ive got a request, does this sim, allow for manual gear retraction or whatnot?, if so, can you set up a flight like this, 1 engine out, AND hydraulic failure?, so you have to manually drop gear?, , if not, how bout a belly flop

Important for prop-engine failures, Always feather the prop if it fails it helps a lot.

when the DC-3 came out a test like this was made for real. I think it was over NY that they tested to fly with one engine, and it worked!

If you don't feather the prop it will windmill and therefore produce drag equal to the area circumscribed by it. Like a barn door. Autopilots could be installed. I flew these for U.S. Army Parachute Team (Golden Knight's from 70-75. Great airplane. Great video. Thanks, Charlie

no you can't the plane is a tail dragger which means there is a wheel in the tail so the nose must go up it is just the way the plane is designed.

Video Request: could u do a video explaining how to get lined up with the center line of the runways. my approaches are good but u carnt seem to land on the centerline

i think i can help you...you line up on an approach, you go to the outside view and go to the view directly behind the aircraft, and keep the nose gear pointed towards the runway, once you get onto short final make sure you can see the centre line through the gap in the two tyres on the nose gear, then go in and view the cockpit, look were the centre line disapears behind the panel and look for an instrument just below were it disapears, and take note. on future approaches use the same place

I know its just a simulator, but if this where to happen in real life, you would need to clean up the aircraft by retracting the flaps ASAP. That is very important. After that, try to maintain Vyse (best rate of climb on single engine) and try to make turns toward the good engine as you could spin out if you turn in the direction of the dead engine. You could have also considered climbing above pattern altitude if possible as flying over a populated area on one engine is very dangerous.

I had 66% fuel during this scenario. During the "practice / test" for this video I found that the vertical climb with a single engine was better with the flaps down one notch.

Yes, flying over a populated area is dangerous, but for this video, and my intentions with nearly all of my videos, is to provide a bit of entertainment for just a few minutes.

The cowl flaps on the inoperative engine should be closed to reduce the extra drag. Of course, this should be taken care of after you have gone through the engine out checklist, which I did not see you do.
