  • @mrmbuceta

Its possible to install this App in snowleopard but it takes some CAREFUL tweaking... see awesome youtuber "JohnnyTheGeek"'s video on "how to install ibooksauthor on snow leopard"

  • Matt, you should make a book for all of your viewers to have in iBooks, it would be great to have all of your apple products knowledge in a BOOK!!

  • You should definely compose a book about your Apple Knowledge and publish it on the iBooks Store! I would download it :)

  • lion only -.-

  • @TapTapFreak I still have snow leopard and also can't use it

  • Does it have to be ipad?

  • I actually use this to make family albums and send them to my iPad.

  • do u think the next iPad will have a redesign

  • you should actually publish this! i'd buy it.

  • When you preview it does it download to the ipad or once you disconnect it from the wire it disapears? Just because it would be nice to make my personal "books" with the material from high school to see them when im studying

  • You should make a book!

  • How do you get the 3D feature? What type of file does it need to be?

  • i need this for my linux and windows dual booter...

  • I love your film making skills matt! It's amazing how your able to make such a informative vid be less then 5mins long! Keep it up! Btw a bit of topic what do you think of the canon 600D? I got one a while back :).

  • Who knew that Apple can make textbooks interesting...

  • Matt!

You can preview the book on your iPad! That's real cool...

I was wondering whether we could use this interface to simulate our iOS Apps so that it worked native? Do you think it would be possible?

    Thanks in Advance ;)

  • This is amazing!!

  • Now downloading L: thanks for the review Matt :)

  • Two questions: does the previewing work on the iPhone/iPod Touch, and does the iPad (or device) need to be physically plugged in or can it be wirelessly syncing.

  • Wow. Apple has done it again. Great first look and overview.

  • I wish textbooks could also be viewed on computers, not everyone has an iPad...

  • this is amazing thanks

  • 2 people dont know how to read or touch

  • Can I save the final work as a pdf and export?

  • @gastal You can export as PDF and/or iBooks files

  • only works for mac osx 10.7? :(

  • damn. gotta run lion.. that sucks

  • IS IT GOOD FOR MAKING A COOKBOOK

  • @thefurquan101 Yes.

  • Hey Matt, What are you using to make your dock transparent?

    :)

  • @TheTechBoxYT Mirage Dock

  • Would this app be good for, like, novels? Or is it to picture/textbooky oriented?

  • @TheVarietyGuy I guess you could make a novel with it, but its not really built for that.

  • @MattsMacintosh Yeah, thanks Matt.

  • @MattsMacintosh I would like to see a fully illustrated and interactive fiction novel. It would be interesting to see how they could innovate on that field since regular ePub novels are a little bland and dry cut.

  • Is it that you can actually print your books or is it only interactive?

  • @naacillep12 Its designed just to make interactive books

  • Hey Matt,

do I have to purchase to publish my books in ibooks? Thx for you answer

    TheFanSR, Germany

  • @TheFanSR No, you don't need this app to publish something in iBooks.

  • @MattsMacintosh thx. And can I sell the books for money?

  • The app is a pain in the balls

  • One person can't do this 

  • do you have a cold? :(

  • could i make an interactive art portfolio through this?

  • @SOLE1PRODUCTIONS I was thinking the same thing yesterday after I made the video. I think it work really well for that.

  • My school has to see this.

  • Does this work on iPod touch?

  • Amazing App - thanks ! iLove 

  • WOW!

  • Great quick review Matt! I wasn't expecting iBooks Author when I watched the Apple event...

  • I guess that eBooks, or iBooks ;), have a ridiculous amount of pros vs physical books and I totally agree with those.... Carrying a zillion textbooks sucks but call me old fashioned, I'll be extremely sad if books start to disappear like cassette tapes (not that I'm too worried they are gone lol). Though luckily I don't think that will happen for a long time because there are so many books (& so many that won't be converted to digital you'll need to still find a physical copy).

  • I've got to say, this looks fantastic. I will certainly use it. However, I am very interested in your opinion on Apple trying to kill physical books. It scares me that people are putting down the printed word. I know you love beautifully bound books and well, so do I. I think that nothing can beat holding a physical book in your hand although digital is amazing & convenient (& iPad touch swipy awesome crap is awesome lol) but I don't want to see everyone looking only at screens in the future :-/

  • those books must be HUGE once the images keep a decent resolution.

Can you give-me an ideia of how much space they take? I still haven't updated my MBP to Lion (i'm lazy, and when it came out i read some bad reviews so i got affraid), and acording to my mac appstore, you have to have Lion to download the ibook author, so i haven't tried it yet!

  • fantastic! I'm going to use it to publish my diet book in full color. Thanks for posting this vid.

  • What do you think about SOPA/PIPA?

  • Looks promising!

  • It works on Snow Leopard?

  • This proves innovation does not stop when u go apple

  • My favorite part about this as a High School student is the ease of use. You made the start of a book extremely easily. This means textbook publishers should be able to get the textbooks I use at school and lug home every day ready for the iPad very quickly. At my school iPads are very popular as they are allowed in many classes and are great for taking notes! Yes a laptop has a better keyboard but for it to wake from sleep it can take 30 seconds plus let alone to boot pages/word. When the tea

  • You beat Luis lol

  • I am looking to make lots of money with this! I have always struggled with making a iPhone app now I can create and get paid!

  • hey matt where can i get this program

  • can people download the book you make?

  • heyy matt, someone stole my iphone 4 today. ive tried using find my iphne but the person must have turned it off. is there anything elese one can really do?

  • really sweet app, going to have to convince some of my teachers to start using this! thanks for the heads up on it

  • Hey Matt, How did you make it do that thing you made it do when you made it do that thing you made it do when you did that one thing?

  • Great work Matt!

  • Hey Matt, I've got a serious question. What do you think is the best video editing software for Windows that is under $300 and what do you think is the best, disregarding price, for Windows? Thanks!

  • @xKhalsa13x Sony Vegas if you are on a budget, Adobe Premiere if money doesn't matter.

  • @MattsMacintosh Thanks! I appreciate the response.

  • Awesome!! :D

    another excellent video

  • Is this your mac pro or your MacBook air?

  • Dude, you HAVE to make a book about failed Apple Products. So many people just overlook them. I looked everywhere for more detailed info on the QuickTake, of which I own three (two 150's, one 200), and there is virtually none. A more detailed book on Lisa would be lovely, too, and maybe have a chapter on the Macintosh Portable and Duo series. Thanks for reading this, if you did, Matt.

  • Where do you see Keynote Addresses live?

  • That looks cool.

  • do you have to have an ipad to view?

  • Great review man!

  • Could of sworn this video was going to be on the ibook line of laptops XD

  • Iv just tried to download this and it will not download saying you need Mac OSX version 10.7 so I had a look at my version and it is 10.6.8 and that is the latest version. can you help

  • @Prince7641 I think you answered your question. You need to have OSX Lion (10.7) to run this app. 10.6 is Snow Leopard, that is not the latest. Sorry...

  • @Prince7641 I'm stuck in the same boat... Sadly you need Lion to install this.

  • Hey matt! If i were to create a textbook on basic how to's for the mac, could I use screenshots or would that be illegal?

  • How much did your mac pro cost?

  • I really do think this can solve our back problems by lightening our backpacks!,

  • Thanks so much for this Matt. I just downloaded and it and I'll check it out in a bit. Do you know if Apple is going to let any Tom, Dick or Harry sell e-books on the iBook store? Will it be like the App store where you can submit and sell after approval?

  • Really enjoyed the keynote & your video. Hope to see you go more in-depth in publishing and explaining that you could create a cookbook, how to guide, etc. more clearly as well. :D

  • Coool

  • Creativity FTW ,, I like it ,, Thanks !!

  • mcdougal littell... please use this

  • I would love for your to make a book about old school retro macs! you definitely should! even ibooks ill read it!

  • @meekhaeel1 Matt's magic wand :D

  • Also Matt how come you don't have Screenflow 3.0?

  • Maybe you should make a book about the history of Apple and sell it on the iBookstore. That would be awesome! I'd definitely download it.

  • i would still use indesign

  • Hey Matt, Nice video and I wanted to say that was a great Vokle stream yesterday!

  • I looked at your flickr blog, and it is fantastic, but I am wondering what you use to edit your photos, what ISO do you use, if you use HDR, or if you use RAW or JPEG.

  • Wow... that app is amazing!

  • always love ur videos :)

  • Google Chrome vs Opera vs Safari vs Firefox (Mac)? Please comment saying which one you like the best.

  • @EduardoMLD Google Chrome ;)

  • @EduardoMLD i prefer safari, but all of these browsers are good. i think you should give them all a trie and see what you prefer. (btw i don't like firefox that much because it doesn't have full screen support in os x lion)

  • This is awesome!

  • thats really cool

  • Awesome video, Matt!

  • Only for Lion users.... Well that's balls!

  • I was expecting the app to be 64 bit.

  • @meekhaeel1 That's part of the app that I use to record my screen, Screenflow

  • Nice thanks for the preview!

  • really really good, as always ;)

  • Your awesome, Matt!

  • I <3 

  • It would be cool if magazines in Newsstand could be able to use this as well. That way, no-one can make a badly performing magazine(as some very much are right now).

  • Great video! I really enjoyed it!

  • first

  • So it said it had 1 view, no likes, & no comments. I refreshed it, and 186 views, 13 likes, & 11 comments (;
