I just finished SLARS. Let me just say, it's excelent. The story is written very well and I love Amber's spunk. She kinda reminds me of my character, right down to the poodle skirt lol. Bobby Big Boy is so cute and the actress playing Amber is beautiful.
starlinej - So glad you enjoyed my book. Please thank your Rowan professor for including SLARS on her/his syllabus. It takes place in a fictional town. In my mind while writing it was on the PA side of Philly, but could be in NJ.
I really liked this book, especially Amber as the protagonist. Hoping Mr. Quick gives this a response since my class had a question. We read this novel in my Adolescent Literature class at Rowan University, and we were wondering where the novel is meant to take place. We guessed possibly Philadelphia or Camden, NJ.
@Madonioe Hi Madi, So glad you enjoyed SLARS. THANKS! The actress above is named Annie Hubbs. She was a student of one of the filmmakers who made the trailer. And she is a fantastic person. Q
@matthewquick21 Oh my goodness, thanks for replying! I have on question if you don't mind answering; i was in my library (before i come upon your book) and saw a picture of the Glee cast (you know that show?) and Mercades was holding your book. (She was the one with the black hair, sort of on the chubby side;not mean to be rude) did you meet them? And where did you come up with the idea of this book?
@buddycake98 Hi, Emma. I'm a HUGE fan of GLEE, especially the first season. Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Mercedes or anyone from the cast, but I was thrilled when i saw the poster. Happy to be associated with the show. GLEE and my work share many themes.
Back when I used to teach high school English, I counseled many many troubled teens and teens who were struggling with identity issues. Amber was definitely hatched from that experience.
A few kids including me at my high-school just got this book and October 22? or 23, I'm going to meet Matt and get this book signed. I just started yesterday and I must say it's a pretty good book.
This trailer sets the tone for the novel. If I had a say, everyone about to take the journey through Amber's life should have to begin with the trailer. Buy the book, read the book and learn a little bit about love, life and the power of friendships!

I agree with mfwbar5 that this very cool trailer sets the tone for the novel. Amber rocks and inspires. Don't miss the chance to get to know her.
