  • dont let the goverment make money from you keep to rules off the road. put speed cameras on every 30.

  • excelent point brilliant

  • if this happens and in your in a car rejoice!! the other drive has failed in his duty of care to other road users and caused an accident which he should be held responsible for.... get a sick note for back/neck pain...Contact deed poll change your name to ibrahim khafoor mohammed. tell the insurance company your whole family was in car.. may injuries!! everyone claims !! great Success!

  • shud i stop blinking my eye's aswell? on average iff i drive one hour i would have driven blind for 1min due to blinking with my eye's!!!!

  • this is a nice way of making money out of drivers

  • @jcoldham1 If you mean speed enforcement, it has been running at a gradual loss since Feb 2007 when the netting-off changes meant all the money goes to the government & only running costs are returned. This removed all incentive to maximise detections, so running costs outweighed income.

It does not make money out of drivers, which is why the number of static cameras has been dramatically reduced.

  • @lollygaggle yeah ok

  • How about all new cars have a heads up display to show the speed infront of your face.. no excuses then ?

  • @TeamYankee2 You don't consider that would be distracting?

  • @mmaarrkkii if all motorists were to drive as u did in video their would be a dramatic reduction in road crashes as tailgating is the cause of over 50% of road crashes. The RSA Ireland should take note of your excellent video

  • Speed cameras are nothing but a tax grab.

  • @freethoughtmusic Not so, speed enforcement has been running at a loss for the past couple of years.

  • wether doing 100mph or 30mph in a 30 zone.. hitting a child at either speed will still kill. so i dont see a reason to speed limits. if they are that bothered.. limit all cars and get rid of sports cars.

NO they wont because there making to much fucking money out of them.. and all motorsport would simply die.

  • @Overst33r Can you supply any evidence to support your claim made in the first line of your comment?

  • @lollygaggle yeah its on a dvd which is titled.......... zip it.

  • @lollygaggle yeah its on a dvd which is titled.......... zip it.

  • @Overst33r Obviously if someone runs into the road a few meters infront of you, you have more chance of slowing down to a stop, or a non lethal speed, if you're going at 30 rather than 100...

  • @shoishk I completely agree with Bob&G, impact velocity is the single factor that determines the level of physical trauma in a collision - 'Speeding Kills' doesn't equate to 'Speeding Causes Accidents'. You appear to be confusing the cause of a collision with the cause of death.

Many motorists do not drive a few mph above the posted threshold, twice the limit is very common & I'd rather speed enforcement was out there with the ability to identify these moronic idiots than not.

  • @shoishk Im affraid we shall have to agree to disagree. I will never agree with your arguments. May I suggest pistols at dawn. At least you didnt resort to name calling too much, I'll give you that.

  • @shoishk You clearly have a reading disability. The faster you drive, the more likely the crash will be fatal. The faster you go, the higher the risk, ergo, speed kills. By the way, the German stats are pretty damning. They had to alter construction methods on Autobahn to adapt to the speeds. German drive far superior cars in terms of safety features, they have a better public transport system and better roads.

  • @shoishk You have given a non argument that is as ridiculous as the pretext. How many people have been killed in aeroplanes. The statitics are very clear, you are kidding yourself if you believe that speed does not have a DIRECT LINK to death on roads. If a driver is nervous or stressed by a camera, they are clearly not capable. I see a camera and am never concerned. You are not safe under the speed limit, but you are a hell of a lot safer. Cameras may be a revenue raiser, but speed does kill.

  • @shoishk Whilst I can see your argument, the statistics, you mention, only prove one thing. Speed cameras cant kill. Speeding motorists can. Speed cameras are not in control of the vehicle that crashes, nor are they in control of the driver. There may be mitigating circumstance, it is the driver that is responsable for his or her actions.

  • If you cant do the speed check and look for approaching cars at the same time, then perhaps you need to look at your driving skills. If you think the conditions are dangerous, slow down.

  • or you could just put down your sunshelter at the cameras and watch the road under it and not have to check the speed?

  • @karandip90 Yes, the sunshelter, watching the road and the air, all er....good stuff.

  • @lollygaggle what? The sunshelter and speed factors were 2 totally different comments. The sunshelter was not an answer to you just a comment for everyone.

  • @karandip90 Not disputing who your comments were aimed at, merely the content.

  • @lollygaggle well okey i anyways didn't understand your question/ statement...

  • If anything at night. The flash from the camera can disorientate the driver, thus possibly leading to an incident

  • What rubbish - quite frankly any driver who has to keep checking their speedometer should not be on the road. Don't blame cameras - there are a huge number of drivers (like me) who would like to see many more of them.

  • Impact velocity is the factor that determines the level of physical trauma in a road traffic collision.

So combine excessive speed with inattention & you have the perfect combination to comprehend how & why 'speeding kills'.

  • @MldnightCIub You could of course fit a speedo to your bicycle & then you'd have a ready answer.

  • I have never understood the fixation with 'speedo watching' - once the speed is set, only opening the throttle or hitting a downward gradient will increase the velocity of a motor vehicle

  • Yeah i've only been riding a few months. And i was refering more to the first month or so. But i still do it a bit. And even if it's only twice, just a quick look down could result in an accident.

  • @lollygaggle no, also the rake of the road and the air affects the speed.

  • True we need speed limits. But i ride a motorbike, and you can't help checking the speedometer when near cameras. Especially as a ban would stop me from doing my job. And like the video says, all the time i'm watching my speed i'm not watching the road.

  • Comment removed

  • its clear from the evidence in swindon that REMOVING speed cameras has resulted in an reduction in the number of deaths and accidents. FACT speed cameras are very dangerous and CAUSE accidents.

  • What evidence are you citing?

  • the evidence and press cuttings from swindon borough council, the evidence supplied from M.A.D motorists against detection, the evidence that was supplied on the top gear programme on tv, the evidence that was supplied by 5th gear programme on tv, the goverment stats, and the evidence supplied by motor mart magazine. FACT: speed cameras serve no purpurse other than as a tax on the motorist. at least dick turpin was polite enough to stop you before he robbed you.

  • I have to question if there is a recognised speeding problem 'outside schools'? Most such institutions have school crossing patrols who physically stop the traffic when kids arrive & leave. From experience, I see the majority of schools as being the least risky in terms of speed related collisions.

The very best option outside schools are speed humps that bracket all approach routes, simple to implement & don't need attending to swap film, plus they don't get burnt like cameras.

  • Ah yes, the episode where The Hood planted a bomb in the Gatso factory.

  • Sorry big guy, you'll have to enjoy the weather on Tracey Island alone.

  • I have never witnessed 'Fount' participate in Thunderbirds mayhem to any degree.

I will observe any developments in that direction without interest.

  • I will not be drawn into an interchange about old yoga, when Jane Fonda has always been numero uno. It would be a betrayal.

  • dont even try to argue with the glorified traffic warden it has issues with bikes and bikers and defends pensioner beating policemen .and also policemen that get upto 100mph in housing estates and run little girls over in their police car

  • I wasn't aware of a policeman being beaten by pensioners. Did they use walking sticks or a shopping trolley? Mind you, shopping trolleys can be very heavy if laden with food for budgerigars, all that seed can weigh a fair bit enmasse.

Did you know that budgies are part of the class, Platycercini? Many can 'talk' & quickly learn to mimic human words & sounds. They are found throughout the drier parts of Australia & have survived for the last five million years in really extreme conditions.

  • oh dear playing that card are we . shows your getting annoyed you know exactley what i mean . so stop been slack or as we say around ere tha daft [innit]

  • Are you seriously suggesting I have defended the actions of police in America? Can you quote me please?

  • well its happened here . and it wos on the news the same as one of you co,workers running over a girl in a estate doin 90mph as far as im concerned such behavour in civilian and especially uniformed roles deserves harsh treatment its just exploiting a position . and you know exactley what im on about .

  • Still awaiting the quote, you know the one where I defended the nasty policeman who beat up the elderly?

Or as we say around 'ere, "Twix offered up philippic verily reflects boundless discombobulation".

  • trying to twist ure way out of things or sliver your way .well no matter how you try i know whats going to happen and acting the idiot aint gonna stop anythin resortin to long quotes from a dictionary to try and make yourself look clever when you are just making yourself look a bigger idiot

  • Oh dear, playing that card are we? Shows you're getting annoyed, you know exactly what I mean.

We've now dropped the speed to 90mph in a bid for accuracy? What about backing this up?

    evil typed;

'..and defends pensioner beating policemen .and also policemen that get upto 100mph in housing estates'.

I requested proof that I 'defended' any such actions - you have failed to supply any. I wonder why?

  • well you deleted your last comment . and as far as what i said about the police try watching the news and reading the papers . well resorting to nit picking now your too stupid to even hold an argument with and your in a position and you act like this . your an arse .

  • Nit picking? You keep making up accusations and offering up 'facts' that simply don't exist. I ask you to back them up, but all you return with is bad language?

    It's 'you're an arse'.

I appreciate you are going through a difficult time what with the rape charge & everything, but don't take it out on me.

  • rape charge dont know what you mean .sorry must have me cinfused with a member of the police who recentley wos cought looking at a young girl getting changed through a window with cctv he wos found out when they examined the nights work the day after no rapist here

  • Okay, I apologise, I've just checked your pm from 7 weeks ago & you did say not to mention it openly. My bad.

  • HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA you really are quite insane arent you . keep on dreaming ive been insulted by bigger and i wouldnt say uglier cos i think ive seen you .

  • FINALLY you get the point about making things up.

Well done sir, I thought you'd never get there.

  • im not making things up ive seen these proposals . and the other things about the girl been run over and the pensioner been beaten for his only crime been their and wanting to get outa the way he wos doin his usual job of selling paoers and one of you brave police friends hit him with a trunchion very brave WANKER

  • The issue was very clearly detailed earlier;

    evil typed;

'..and defends pensioner beating policemen .and also policemen that get upto 100mph in housing estates'.

I requested proof that I 'defended' any such actions - you failed to supply any & now you waffle about ancillary unconnected issues, dancing about attempting damage limitation. You then culminate with an expletive (that's a swear word to save you opening the dictionary AGAIN).

And you reckon I'm the one who gets upset?

  • well if all you have to do is bring trivia into it you have lost the battle . you dont like it becouse something has been highlighted that slures people in the proffesion . a term i use losely by saying that . that you were in . it aint gonna work its my opinion about these people and im entitled to it .and nothing you say or do aint gonna change that. respect is earned not made to be .

  • I bring trivia into it??? YOU brought the issues up - NOT me! You now say it's your opinion about these people - I never even mentioned them yet you accused me of defending them.?!

6 a.m. tomorrow morning, it's another day in the captain's chair for dozens of speed enforcement officers.

Lost the battle? You are dreaming.

  • well i will try to post another comment . thats what you do when you dont like what you are hearing . you think that the public should ,nt have an opinion or even look at you lot . but you are very much mistaken . its a free country and is goin to be more so again if all goes successfull the law dealing with real crime not dreamed up positions like these for friends and so on .which are deefinatley going going gone

  • Unfortunately it isn't a 'free country', we are governed by multitudinous laws & legislation & they are becoming more encroaching. A new government will simply bring in a different set of variables covering aspects the current one is not so hot on. Manifestos are designed to appear appealing, but if there was a perfect governing body, then why do we regularly vote out the current one searching for something better?

I sympathise with your frustration, but freedoms are going, going, gone.

  • Can you identify exactly what it is about modern speed detection that you find difficult to deal with?

  • Are you saying you don't know if you have tried 5-HTP?

It may be worth adopting the belief system that all pedestrians are fellow Devil worshippers so you will not be so inclined to run them over.

  • I believe you meant 'Might have'.

    However, I quote direct from your illustrious page;

'I am a an animal and do not wish to be portrayed in any other way!

I am guessing you are not keen on religion by the subject matter?

  • Have you tried 5-HTP?

  • I get you now, sarcasm is cool.

However, why doesn't every driver lose control of their vehicle when they approach a speed camera? If the camera is to blame, then it must happen every time.

  • You said earlier you injured children through your bad driving.

  • Do you also lose control of your vehicle when a traffic light turns red?

I'd seek some professional help regarding your 'panic' issues, & maybe consider some more driving lessons focusing on reading the road layout ahead & your inability to restrain your tendency to speed above the set threshold.

Remember, the cameras are part of the road ahead.

    Good luck.

  • i set off a camera in France doing 125mph ish on my bike... got home and never heard anything from them lol

  • love the song.. robert miles > children or princess of light

  • Sunday afternoons can be awkward to fill once you've left church.

  • maybe drivers breaking for the off slip just after the camara would be a bit more dangerous?

Someone hitting someone from behind looks way more likely than cars pulling out

  • to much money involved !! never get rid of them. and them bastards sat in vans with readers wives and a camera want gasing.

sad little twats who were bullied at school

  • What is gasing?

  • Applying with gas, as in Auschwitz.

  • Readers wives in the van? Why bother with that nonsense when they are shafting all those motorists?

  • Check out `birmingham speed`on YouTube to see FAULTY camera activations.

  • Take no notice of denny, she just makes it all up. Rubbish about bonus schemes and prosecution targets - absolute garbage.

  • couldnt agree more with this video, people automatically think speed must be the danger, but lack of concentration is much worse. speed cameras reduce speed but increase lack of concentration.

  • 'speed cameras reduce speed but increase lack of concentration.'?

If this were true, how are millions generated every year in the form of fines? Motorists don't even see the big yellow box on top of the thick metal pole when they are supposedly concentrating.

Speed combined with lack of concentration is the danger, for when a collision takes places, the resulting damage/injury is directly proportionate to the impact speed.

  • 'the best answer to road saftey is dont sell cars & bikes that can speed..'?

You haven't thought this through. There are a number of progressively faster posted limits, so if you make a car that cannot speed in the 30mph zone, it would create a major problem on a single carriageway 50mph, or even worse on a motorway.

The only answer is get people to observe the posted limits, but this is of course impossible & countless drivers exist inside a 'tunnel' & don't see much at all.

  • I have yet to meet a motorist who openly admitted they are rubbish behind the wheel. Once out on the road, they are always in the right, never at fault & double-standards are very common, doing to others exactly what they swear at others for doing to them.

To raise limits would be a recipe for increased lunacy. We already have a huge number of drivers who ignore the set threshold & to raise it further means the pressure on the weakest link would see the chain break far more frequently.

  • You make an excellent point, although I believe unwittingly so;

A chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Compared then to a line of traffic, one inattentive, inexperienced, driver who lacks awareness, with no regard for other road users - is the weakest link. Hence, there must be a 'leveller' - a posted limit that everyone must acknowledge, regardless if some find it too slow for their tastes or perceived abilities.

That said, just because Corsa Boy thinks he is a good driver, is he?

  • WTF?

  • This video is made to inform women.

  • It is this very reason that we are all obligated to drive within set limits. WHEN a road traffic accident takes place, and they will regardless of what you put in place, the resulting injury/damage will be statistically reduced by a slower collision speed.

  • well heres a test for you then, i bet you are unable to keep at the " 5 under the limit" for longer than 5 secounds, i bet you will either go slower or faster , and by which time you wont have noticed becuase you will have thought "im going under 5 the limit" which means you could very well be speeding

  • Box say-"Me larkey speedo cams they nicey brighty lelllow..."

  • Where has all this hostility come from? Lollygaggle has just been stating some fare points and 2 idiots give him this abuse. You guys should grow up.

  • Well done godjp821, I'm glad you have finally seen the light and error in your ways. Speed cameras are amazing in every way just like me. Thank you also for your pm it was very kind but I can not accept your money and soul it is not needed.

  • get a life buddy

  • welcome to youtube, the land of the witless and "its the internet i can act a fool and get away with it"

  • Camera dangers, see"Birmingham speed camera" clip on YouTube.

  • Very good! Totally agree burn the bastard i say

  • Every time you burn a camera, the mobile enforcement teams of that particulat safety camera partnership are offered overtime to make up the 50k needed to replace the camera. This means a great many drivers who otherwise wouldn't have got points & a fine now do - all because the camera was destroyed. In other words, all those motorists get prosecuted just because someone committed criminal damage.

A selfish, thoughtless act that impacts a great many working families.

  • rubbish! mobile locations are set each month in advance, speed cameras really cost £24k and if the good folk out there were to burn out the camera 3times in 6months then it won't be replaced. DID YOU GET THAT FOLKS 3 FIRES IN 6 MONTHES MEANS NO REPLACEMENT CAMERA AND NO MORE FINES!!!! not that i'm surgesting a plan of action of course.

  • Apologise again? When was the first occasion?

  • the blue car is also more inclined to pull out as the average driver also slows down for the camera.

some drivers look at the speedo for a good while, tryin not to go a single mph under the speed limit. these rushy drivers are the ones that slow down more noticably as they were speedin much faster than the limit.

iv seen a camera in a very similar situation, only with two roads either side. ave it like 100m before, so they slow down and can look up in time

  • i applaud you,my thoughts regards speed cameras ecactly,...

  • I take it English isn't your first language?

  • no it isnt its the dilect where i live been prejudice now are we aswell clever arent we

  • Oh I see, you are from one of the colonies. You should have said earlier.

How long have you followed Dr Who? It is actually spelt DALEK.

  • woooooooooo gettin angry are we no dont follow dr who its for kids

  • Okay, okay, I apologise again, I didn't set out to make you angry.

You started discussing Daleks, not me.

  • oh did i .stop tryin to play mind games im not that stupid stop tryin to turn the tables around it wont work

  • Turn the tables? You type, and I copy and paste;

'its the dilect where i live'

What is that if not something from Dr Who incorrectly spelt?

  • oh i see i missed a. a out dialect a thousand apologys

  • I see, you meant 'dialect'. Did you know that many people's lives have been directly impacted by typing literally as they speak phonetically?

When Sean Connery applied to Brocolli Studios, he wrote on the form under 'Part Applied For?' = Jaymsh Barnd.

Lucky that a fellow Scot worked there and was able to interpret, he nearly missed out.

  • lollygaggle (1 day ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam I take it English isn't your first language?'

so what if it isnt??? your EngLish is not aLL that perfect i must say!

  • you shouldnt have said that mate

  • I shall have this put on a T-shirt;

'they all tick the same way out to trip people up wots the logo go like justice with courage'

  • As for deleting comments, only the account holder of a video can do this. I did not post this video.

It is however noteworthy, that despite pertinent and direct questioning, we are taken on a tour-de-force of tangential chicanery in a bid to avoid all the salient argument destroying points I made. Instead we get unreadable waffle from a pair who have to team up just to find the courage to reply.

Seen it so many times. The truth always wins.

    Cool.

  • SHHH, Don't use big words you might confuse him.

  • Quote;

'they all tick the same way out to trip people up wots the logo go like justice with courage more like fraud and deception gainin moneys by deviouse means theirs a law against that'

I have no clue what you typed.

  • its really quite easy to understand they all tick the same way as in they all think the same justice with courage is writen on the police cars round ere fraud and deception thats wot their doin and yes their is a law against gainin money by deviouse means fraud

  • As for the horse box comment, Mick Giannasi who is responsible for Gwent's stance on speed enforcement is something of a zero tolerance rebel and ignores the ACPO guidelines. He is not respected by other Chief Constables, I do not condone his type of covert enforcement. There are rules, he does not follow them, go figure.

I have no clue what has been deleted - have you got the right person?

  • oh Look who it is LoL!!! the 'man' that cant answer a simpLe question! oih coward why dont you answer me? x)

  • its not gwent police i know this i speak to officers from four countys and they all tick the same way out to trip people up wots the logo go like justice with courage more like fraud and deception gainin moneys by deviouse means theirs a law against that

  • dont pLay daft with me mate. you know VERY weLL that you deLeted my first comment on your pathetic video.

  • youre not very open minded are you mate?

  • I apologise you were made to feel like an idiot, it wasn't my intention.

Yes, I drive, I acquired my full UK licence in 1977, basic police course in 1978, intermediate 1981 and advanced in 1984. Roads Policing Unit for 17 years, now a similar role in speed enforcement.

If it were all about making money, there wouldn't be so many empty dummy cameras.

The vast majority of what you hear about speed cameras is complete baseless rubbish, spouted by people in pubs who 'know someone'.

  • why are you deLeting my comments LoLLygaggLe?? are you a woman beater??

  • dont you think a womans point is vaLid??? why do you feeL the need to discriminate against women and men? arent we equaL?

  • can you at Least try and answer me! when theres so much in our worLd why do you feeL the need to disregard a woman? you know.. youLL be NO WHERE without us women. if it wasnt for you mum you wouLdnt be aLive for exampLe!

  • now lets get this rite u think i sit in pubs talkin to the braindead the company i keep are up standin members of society and u say cameras are not a money gainin option well can u tell me why the locall police here are usin a landrover to tow a horse box which has a cam in the back ive seen this and been where it goes

  • yet again treatin me like an idiot i served my country for the likes of you shot at and bricks thrown at and u wish a biker would go for a scrape do u thats not very nice is it grow up

  • madbiker the prick cant answer us.. oLd fart!

  • very true a good giver but no good at takin it wots this about been a women beater and dissin women thats disgustin im shakin my head in disgust

  • he has no baLLs.. hats why he beats women. any decent man wouLdnt beat a woman.. i guess hes gay.. and he has no seLf moraLs what so ever!

  • well a woman knows these things and im agreein with u evedently somethin a miss isnt their

  • ahahahha x))) LooooL or.. hes so oLd he stiLL hasnt found the Love of his Life? hes 50 years oLd.. its possibLe.. poor gay 50 year oLd cow xD

  • yes i know when he,s old enough to drive a car or even old enough to drive a H,G,V then il listen

  • very true whilst ure not watchin the road and watchin ure speedo anythin can happen i know why cameras are used and its from an official source and it s not in the intrest of safety put it that way ithink its sick makin money that way

  • Why does any driver need to KEEP watching their speedo? Once the speed is set, unless you are going down a gradient or you are pressing the gas pedal, you ain't going to accelerate. Even if you do check your speed, it takes a split second, plus any driver paying attention, will know if there is a static camera on that stretch of road.

Cameras are used because a percentage of drivers ignore the speed limits - it is that simple.

  • do u drive a car own a motorbike familiar with how these things work

  • and just for the record ive been drivin for 20 yrs in total and drive commecials and ride bikes and drive cars so dont talk to me like im a idiot

  • You typed '....not watchin the road and watchin ure speedo' - why would any competent driver need to 'watch' their speedo? Just a glance. You have simply avoided my question in favour of playing the affronted card.

Of course speed cameras generate revenue - to support the infrastructure of staff, admin & replacement/upgrade to digital, otherwise it would come out of general taxation. There has to be some financial penalty.

Currently, more drivers attend Speedchoice courses than acquire points.

  • do u drive or ride dont avoid the question

  • and dont talk to me like im an idiot boy

  • Agree with lolly here, the cause of a collision may be concentration related, but the cause of death is strictly impact related. The higher the speed, the greater the impact.

  • Couldn't agree more, lets make it 15 mph everywhere in the UK. Speed kills.

  • Your sarcasm is noted. The limits are just fine so long as people adhere to them - but part of what you said is true - speed is a killer. It is just getting people to stick to them which is the difficult part.

  • I disagree, speed is the only thing that kills (exceptions - explosions, drowning in cars etc).

It is the combination of combining both - speed & inattentive driving, that is the most lethal combination. That said, we are dealing with human beings here & no matter how 'good' you are as a driver, speed defeats you every time when something goes wrong. Even if you pay attention, the blue car pulls out & you cannot stop safely - BANG! - speed gets you every time due to someone else's mistake.

  • It is a fact that SPEED is not the main cause of accidents or death on the roads .Only 7percent of accidents are speed related,I personally concentrate 100 percent when driving due to the muppets on the road who cannot drive due to having not passed a UK driving test or have no insurance ?? .Should we not be having more Police around to detect these people using ANPR rather than Speed Cameras which are usless and do not detect any other violation other than speed !!

  • What an odd perspective; speed cameras are useless, yet detect speed violations in locations that have a history of accidents?

The point you miss is that when a serious accident occurs, that 7% you quote accounts for virtually 100% of fatalities - so SPEED IS the number one KILLER, you are confused by statisticians who include all accidents in the figures.

Therefore, slower roads are safer roads, for when a pedestrian is hit, reducing speed by just 5mph can mean life or death.

  • why do you spend your life commenting on speed camera videos??

  • That is a highly loaded. Spend 'my life' - I don't. I have a full-time job working ten hour shifts, a family, children, dogs, I play guitar a minimum two hours a day, weight train every other day and have many other assorted interests. Responding here takes just a few minutes.

  • more rubbish. if we got 20-30 people who think and drive like you do, put them on a race track and let them drive at speeds of up to 60mph for a couple of hours there would be more accidents than you would get from an F1 race at speed of up to 220mph. REASON: all down to driver abillity, and NOT speed.

  • I see the root of your misunderstanding - 'Speeding Kills' does not mean speeding is the cause of all accidents;

Many things cause road traffic collisions, but the impact velocity at the moment of impact determines the level of trauma. Hence, adherence to posted limits in urban pedestrian zones will lower the numbers of killed & severely injured. You are not alone, many don't get that point.

A Gatso will actually cost 40K+ to erect if power needs to be installed.

  • PM links to any of the evidence you cite please? This is the information age & given the controversy surrounding Swindon, it will obviously be available to everyone.

Did you know that North Somerset Council opted out of having speed camera nearly two years before Swindon? They are gradually reintroducing them because of the pressure put on them by local residents.

My SCP replaces each burnt Gatso with a RedSpeed equivalent, higher, no arm to put a tyre, digital connection.

  • Swindon only opted out due to the hypothecation/netting off changes of 2007 - in other words, they can't 'make' any profit now. T

he way in which they so theatrically left the scheme, was a ploy to make it appear as if it was being done for the public good, when in fact it was all about the money they were losing, not the money being 'taken' from motorists. They thus left smelling of roses following a PR campaign designed to make it look as if they were 'vigilantes'.

  • Yoy make a good point, speed cameras really are a waste of time sometimes, most people just slow down when they get to them then just speed on.

P.S 00:19 You do mean Loddon not London don't you?

  • That is the entire point of what speed cameras are for - they are designed to get you to slow down precisely at locations that have a history of collisions.

The minority who don't 'just slow down when they get to them then just speed on', are usually the ones who benefit most from the wake up call and who you want to educate. They totally miss the approach signs, the big yellow box, the white lines on the road because their attention is elsewhere - certainly not on their speedo.

  • I dont get it....

  • Sorry guys but I think you've missed the message really.

Agree totally with the comments that you make but when people are lobbying for cameras outside schools, etc then driver behaviour should be a deciding factor.

Thanks for taking the time to watch the film anyway.
