  • すごいね ファンになりました。ベートーベンたくさん弾いてほしいな。

  • I can't help but feel she has pushy parents, INCREDIBLY pushy parents. Whether she wants to play or not.

  • @recoil88 pushy parents are the best!

  • she must be Chinese or Japanase no?

  • @rosian23 Aimi is Japanese

  • I find it amazing that she has been playing this piece since age six...and here she is at 11 playing just like an adult...

  • The moment at 1:40 is just remarkable.. in context of that age.

  • She has the musical foundation for a great career - let's hope everything else falls into place with general development, continued love of playing, e.t.c.

  • Great

    Michael the Greek composer

  • a little genius

  • ... and here you can see the big problem of too many people in a small area. i really think her play is amazing and i'm jealous of her skills.. but i don't really think she's acting voluntarily..

  • @Tobbeee8 Who are you to decide wether she's acting voluntarily or not.? No person would play with such inner concentration and understanding when t forced to do so. She obviously loves what she is doing. Are you able to appreciate or love anything, Tobeee 8?

  • @Tobbeee8 you are so jealous that is affecting your judgement......learn more about this extraordinary girl before make your comment....listen Aimi playing Mozart, piano concerto #26 coronation, you will realize how good is this kid.

  • @Tobbeee8 I'd said that too: while clearly a Great talent I think she's being manipulated and perhaps not in ways that are going to be best for her musical growth. I'm reminded of Heifetz' comments regarding "prodigalism," being almost always Fatal. Miss Kobayashi has released a CD without much ciritical (or commercial) notice; time will tell if she is able and prepared to make the shift from being a "curiosity," child-prodigy act to a real concert artist. I'm doubtful but wish her the best.

  • @UlfenDaddy Apparently her first CD (EMI label) is selling very well in Japan. EMI has decided to market for Japan only, as all the texts on the CD case and the leaflet are in Japanese language. But many people outside of Japan have ordered over the Internet to be shipped abroad. Her interpretation of Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata is outstanding, so are the Chopin pieces on that same CD. If you are still doubtful after that.....

  • WTF?? She is a robot??

  • a little disapponted the cane didn't come out for encouragement.

  • Aimi is a pianist the world will never forget. She is stunning.

  • HOLY SHIT!! is this real?

  • Aimi is a true heroine of Beauty! She "goes the distance" in all her performances, and then some. It is so inspiring.

  • She is even more interesting at her age than Martha Argerich was. Compare the recordings of the young Martha Argerich....

Aimi Kobayashi is a full adult pianist already with a gret sensibility for music, a sens of rythm, a sens for teamwork (with orchestra) and an adult volonty to acheave the goal. This could get a very good and long career.....

  • @uhartchristian Argerich herself has complimented Aimi many times through the AADGT. Argerich has been reputed for saying that Aimi plays better than herself had when she was Aimi's age.

  • awww just precious!

  • GEAT JOB AIMI

  • erm isnt this op 14 no. 2?

  • こういうピュアでこけおどしのきかない曲は大人の演奏家でもなかなか難しいのに。

    一方で、「まったくの子供心」みたいなピュアさだけで安易に解決できない。^o^

    素晴らしいわさ。

  • This girl is a miracle... Probably the most natural piano talent ever born... It makes all the other 'prodigies' I've seen on youtube look very basic indeed. Will be very curious to see how her career develops....

  • A união da técnica, memória e emoç!ão fazem da Aimi a verdadeira virtuose.

Suas mão flutuam sobre o teclado e fazem do piano uma extensão de seu ser.

  • она гений!

  • When I see here the quarrel at the different remarks about her age, what does it matter... she will get older as any girls and if she continues the pianostudies she will have a great career and a wonderful life filled with music. Good luck and much success. She is a great musician already.

  • Shes not really Great, theres 5 years old girl is pianist and asuka is 9 years old pian

  • Pianist are going to get younger and younger and better. Soon sperm will be playing Beethoven sonatas.

  • @brandonscherrer funny comment

  • Wow she's amazing, that talent does not come around to often! Awesome, wow ,great !!!!!! :)

  • she is so good! it upsets me that she is probably 10 years younger and can play this song one thousand times better than me.

  • @pennstatelova3 : I believe that quite a number of people would be upset because of the level of expertise of this young girl. However, they should try to get over this. Jeslousy is like a disease!!

  • She was 11... She just looks like shes a 4 year old. LOL

  • @MrJoedanmin is she really 11 here? How do you know? :o

  • i'm deeply humbled by this.

  • émerveillée par ce talent d'adulte dans un corps d'enfant, que d'expression et je fais une grimace...je suis nulle pour toujours....

  • oh . . . wow . . . this leaves me speechless. She plays with so much emotion . . .

  • imagine her interpretations at 40,50,60,... years

guess we can't imagine, it is reachable for maybe 5pianists/100 years.

  • wonderful!

  • OH MY GOSH!

  • je suis bluffé que de voir ces petits virtuoses s'exprimer avec autant de talent de leur doigt, fantastic !

  • Excellent

  • wow, that's incredible. At only 11(?) years old. she obviously has a natural musical intuition that few have. i didn't even FEEL these things when playing piano at that age. i only started to sense these kinds of things a few years ago, and I still have a difficult time actually expressing them - and she makes it look so effortless. bravo.

  • Extraordinary talent and teaching. Congratulations to both of them

  • Does anyone know what year this video was made? I've ben trying to figure out how old she is in these videos...

  • Comment removed

  • @lapetitefrancaise07 Elle doit avoir environ 11 ans dans cette video, qui donc doit dater de 2006, Aimi étant née en 1995

  • agreed

  • Maybe you would be correct if you were solely comparing her performance to those of the great Beethoven interpreters like Arrau, Brendel, Kempf, etc, but compared to nearly every other performance of this sonata, Kobayashi's has plenty of spirit.

  • you people are so full of your own importance don't you realise that one so young has to learn to play at first and then find the expression or are you demanding immediate maturity?

  • you people are so full of stupidy can't you discern a genius from a monkey? This girl understands things that would never cross your mind in the whole lifetime. First repeat, than engage your brows

  • malegran I resent the fact that I received an email notification of your offending remarks. I have been a piano teacher for forty years and I CAN recognise Genius when I hear it and that girl is one absolutely I suggest repsectfully that you cease to tell the world how ignorant you are.

  • @shapiraavi You say you don't see any emotion in her play. I do see a lot of it. Look at her interpretation of Chopin Nocturne No 20 in C or of Chopin Impromptu in A Flat Op 29 (on YouTube). It is obvious she "feels" the music. She has so much pleasure, fun in playing, it has to come from emotions. Not only she has an amazing technique, but she displays an uncommon musical maturity for her age.

  • I've been trying to learn this piece for over a month now and hearing this performance i think has actually showed me the piece for the first time. It is so well played, it sheds so much light on how it is meant to be performed.

  • She plays so beautiful

    and soft :3

  • she listens to her performance, she creates the right sounds

a real virtuoso at the age of 7

  • O_O Holy cow poo.

  • Fantastic! Brilliant!

  • Bravo! What a gift and a joy to listen to!

  • Lol she is 11 that is unreal.

  • SHE SOUNDS JUST LIKE BEETHOVEN!

  • where do you know? :D

  • Mcsquared7 She like 8 years old? lol

  • so shes 13 now?

  • Comment removed

  • genial , cual su edad y nombre?

  • She is unposible ! little child your a god .. i like your pinao songs so much ;) the gift of mozart and beethoven is in you or something you have the SOUL wouw your really GREAT !! wouw ! WOUW WOUW !! 500000 stars

  • great articulation though, some best i've seen, even in adult.. For a demon child wow.

  • wow kcheng76, that was... awesomely put.

  • My soul Loves how you play die Klavier !!

I am your fan little child...

    =)

  • This is remarkable at many levels beyond simply her young age. She clearly hears all the voices, relies on finger legato rather than sostenuto pedal, uses detache for the fast notes, and uses silences before key notes, which all add amazing clarity. She also has an unusual gift for shaping phrases, a stunning sense of line and sense of proportion. Eyes ;shut, it sounds like quite a mature pianist. An amazing achievement indeed.

  • i agree but the only thing about the eye...

I ain't wanting to talk about stereotypes and all but alot of asians like me have small eyes... and she mostly opens her eyes but it seems as if she is closing them...

Sorry if i offended anyone? i don't know...

  • I think you misunderstood kcheng76's comment.

  • @kcheng76 - Not to mention that she does all this with her tiny hands and fingers!

  • @kcheng76 that´s true, that´s exactly what i´m so stunned about , I simply don´t get how can she be such a mature pianist at such an age...not even Beethoven was...he composed this Sonata at age 29, which makes me think this is just pure theater, (just my opinion, not trying to hurt anybody) what do you think?

  • @kcheng76 Yeah. Seriously. I always find it a bit eerie when I hear a child play this way. She has transcended the mechanical and technical aspects of the piano and has found a genuine, mature, spiritual connection to the music... which is something that usually only arises through age. She must be an ancient, highly developed spirit... possibly a physically incarnated advanced being from the 4th dimension, who knows; either way this girl is special.

  • Aimi Kobayashi 小林愛実 born on September,1995 Japanese

  • Doesn`t matter were shes from. I`m sure that we only care that shes human so just relax :P

  • Great job Aimi

    You play very very well.

  • Japan is in Asia cuz its on the same continental platform

  • Wonderful wonderful! I think I like this newer interpretation better than her other one. I'm learning this piece now and she is a great example for me. She has always been so mature in her playing. Aimi has a rare talent :)

  • Aimi Kobayashi is one of the most greatest pianists in the world.

  • Wow, this girl was born when I was! I am not even near as good as she is (of course I don't play piano!)

  • shes my friend in japan i know her i have pics of me n her

  • congrats

  • Beautiful.

  • Whoa. It almost looks like she's not playing that.

  • She`s genius. That`s all.

  • wow she's good, for being so young. I'm playing this piece now, but nowhere as good.

  • Holy Crap, born sept 1995! She's just a few months younger than me, but I look so much older.

  • I think this video was taken several years ago. I would guess she's about 8 or 9 here.

  • Wow, she is amazing. I hope that I can be like her! I'm 13 as well, I've been playing for 6 years and I compete constantly but my playing is crap compared to hers. I'm not sure if it's just the video but the tone needs a little bit of work, some places it's not as crisp.

  • i wish i could be like her. how'd she get famous? I wana be a pianist. I am 13 yrs old now (same as her) and i have a dream of bcomin a pianist. how'd become someone like her?

  • firstly, you must have interest in piano.i'm 13 too and i might skip my grade 6 for grade 7, that's over 8 years of learning piano. do you know the basics? any music background? if you don't, then you should start with learning the basics. over time, with hard work and passion and constant on stage exposure, your effort is bound to pay off. :] keep believing!

  • i am CRAZY over piano. i've learnt piano for 10yrs since i was 3. yea know the basics. LOTS of music background. thanks anyway.

  • Thanks litle lady!

  • youtube wars...gotta love em

  • PaperClip459: I have asked her: I am her sponsor. She likes nothing more than playing the piano....she is thirteen now and is touring the world.

  • Look at her move. She is obviously absorbed into the music. Only people who enjoy playing would move like that - people who feel attached to the music.

  • Think what you want. If it makes you feel better about the fact you have talent nothing like hers then... Fine...

  • she has talent (there's no denying that), but the overdone gestures really annoy me... and we're not getting a little defensive now, are we?

  • that kids got TALENT!!!!!

  • simply and great

  • BRABOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! EXELENTE

  • phillitupp: I am only half of a Frenchie. My mother was English and I spent all my youth in England....nobody's perfect!

  • wow... she looks like she's 6, but she is really around 11 years old!!! heh she still is effing amazing compared to most people who start at 3 years old...XD

  • phillitupp: YOU are the amazing joke! My God, I used to love the English people.....but look what they have become!!!

  • look who's talking, frenchie

as if you guys have ever done anything for us...

  • philitupp i hope youre trolling. talking big like that, i wish i could see something in your channel that would prove what you have just said...

  • You were joking right? It seemed pretty obvious to me... Unless you're not... If you're not... Oh dear we are in trouble...

  • WOW!!! I wish I could play like that, and at such a young age!

  • Wow, just been reading the earlier comments here. Explosive stuff guys! Glad things seem to have settled down so we might continue to enjoy the likes of this young musical genius here. She's extremely gifted. One to watch!

Mille mercis !

  • klingsor93: I am a little concerned about some of the unsavory comments made of Aimi's brilliant playing, made more than likely, by envious listeners. Does Aimi read some of these comments? Already a great pianist, they do her a disservice. Is it possible to have some of those crude comments disabled? I hope that they do not affect Aimi in any way. They do not affect my high estimation of her. If possible, I would like to hear some more of her videos.

  • only stupid idiots and dumbasses would give such negative comments!!

  • that's no way to deal with such agressive comment, I totally agree with concerto if any negative comments of that kind frightened her it would be more then scandalous, afaik she quit and if that is the reason those responsible should look into the mirror and ask themselves what they really feel when they listen to music. I think the answer is quit simple: nothing.

  • i'm not as diplomatic as you are. you don't have to agree..that's fine!

  • I have no fricking idea... but.. I could listen to this all day..

  • it's a beautifull

  • Woah, she's so masterful! 8O Incredible talent like this makes me so happy. ^.^~

However, it's sad, because this will probably consume her childhood...

  • Numbuh128: don't worry about her chilhood, I know her very well, she is a very happy young girl, always smiling and joking. She just happens to love the piano!

  • omg shes good im in grade 3 of piano

  • yes she is a very talented pianist but as Thomas Edision said genius is 99% presperation and 1% insperation.

  • Yes, Thomas Edison did say that. However, I believe that Aimi has a natural technique, innate musicality and an exceptional memory. I gleaned this, judging from reports that I have heard about her. Can anybody tell me if Aimi has perfect pitch?

  • concerto35: Yes Aimi has perfect pitch. She can also sing the right notes without any hint.

  • I knew that Aimi would have perfect pitch which is 1 in every 2000 persons. However, this is more common among great musicians like Horowitz, Richter, Rubinstein and Dimitris Sgouros, who studied with my teacher in England. I did not think that it was neurologically possible for a child at 4 to play Clementi Sonatina like an adult after a year's training. Now, I have to revise my whole concept of child development. Thomas Edison, Aimi's genius is 90% inspiration and 10% perspiration.

  • I confirm what she has to listen very high absolute and many other things, excellence in its interpretations, and this extraordinary sensitivity. Aimi. this progress ever more intense with each of these concerts we delight of his magic ...

  • That si really really good

  • talento puro ....:)

  • holey moley shes so good

  • Aimi will be 13 years old on 23rd September. Happy birthday Aimi. All the best for the upcoming competition.

  • my birthday is sept 17 and my friends is the 25th

  • I'm sept 12 and I have friends that are the sept 1, sept 11, sept 24, sept 30. I also have family members that are sept 10 and sept 19.

    September rocks!!!!

  • whoops i forgot my sis's v-day s sept 12 too!

  • I also have a friend that's 17th.

I wonder if there are as many babies born in september than any other month...?

  • Shame to you! She is a prodigy and you are only an envious little man.

  • i would not be surprised if she dose become a prodigy.

  • prodigy.

  • she's twelve!!

    She looks like eight though.

  • She's 12 now, but I'm guessing she's about 8 in this video.

  • Played like a pro, and how old is she??? wtf!?

That would be incredibly good for a mature adult with ALOT of practice.

  • i agree with funky. that's what i 'm thinking of. her piano teacher must be very STRICT hehe

  • is she a midget? is that true? or how old is she?

    i´m kinda confused

  • her piano teacher must be SO STRICT

  • that's amazing.the playing is so mature.i have seen many kids who can play complicated music.but she seemed to have a mature level of creative control and understanding.that is very ver rare among kids

  • She's really good but it sullies it a little knowing that it isn't a child, but a midget. Still very talented though

  • She's somewhere between 8 and 10 in this video.

  • that is insane. amazing indeed.

i wish i could play like that.

  • Wow I'm the same age as you and because I go to a music school in England I thought I was quite good.. And now I sound SOOOOOO BAD!!!

    keep up the good work!

  • You know what? I play the piano too. I'm also learning that piece. I'm only 1 Month Younger than her, and she makes me look like a Beginner.

You have to appreciate her talent. Not just talent... she's a GENIUS.

You can see she loves to play the piano....

    Congratulations Miss. Kobayashi!

  • Oh my gosh, absolutely amazing!!

  • Stop posting rude comments, this girl is magnificent. I can't play a piano, I don't even know the difference between staccato and toccata but my ear is delighted by her skills, a total fool on music like me. Please post more positive comments, thanks.

  • I am an African American Adult classical pianist. Every time that I see this young girl perform it touches my heart like no one that I have ever seen before. I would love to see my young granddaughter be able to achieve this level of skill. The dedication of parents is so often misunderstood with children of this age, much as my own were. She is simply beautiful and artistic at such an early age. My only criticism is the quality of the video. God bless all...

  • Incredible!!

  • wow!
