  • This dance brings tears to my eyes as i used to watch it with my grandma, i have the video tape of it and every time i watch it the passion of michael and jean absorbs me.

  • Great, I love this. See first beautiful dance and see 1:00 fantastic star. Then you find what happen on 3:30 very controlled exciting scene.

  • Aaahhh. This was before Michael got so full of himself. Jean and he are great in this.

  • I still think Colin Dun had more energy on stage and showed more passion.

  • @princesso8788 I like Michael better. He just has a certain charm about him.

  • Aaaah good memories sniff, I was a child then but still perfectly remember :o

  • Just....ICONIC!!!

  • gravity???

  • @Towandaah No such thing. LOL.

  • fabulous, a wonderful dance i have seen.

  • indeed a spectacular piece. I too had a vhs copy of this, and now I have the dvd. truly remarkable

  • 5 people must be blind if they can't see how AMAZING riverdance is!!!!!!!

  • It's Christopher Walken!

  • Love this, the rhythm is addictive!!

  • i have this on VHS and i love it!!!! wish i was older and could've seen riverdance when they were still in it !!!

  • he looks like he's having a lot more fun than she is

  • by that jean is fit in more ways than one Mmmm

  • If I wouldn't be a dancer myself..... I WOULD BE JEALOUS !! ***** 5 star Performance!

  • this is amazing.

  • I bought this VHS tape years ago and it was the most exciting time to see these two at the head of Riverdance. Seeing this revives that great thrill - thanks for putting it up, grainy or not.

  • 2:51 micheal is smiling at jean and jean has this disqusted look on her face. lol

  • ♥ riverdance

  • I am both humored & charmed by the note that, when Michael Flatley's arms are both out to his sides, it looks like there is as much shirt on his sleeves as there is on his torso, therefore making the shirt look like one big sleeve.

But he wears it incomparably well!

  • @Ignauhak I find his mullet most humorous. So glad he doesn't sport one now!

  • Now dance ya heavenly gobs!

  • Jean Butler is so great and beautiful.

Thank you Maralan 51 for your posting.

Maybe this is first satage of Riverdance project.

Jean Butler was facilitater of Special Olympics 2003 at Dublin.

  • i just saw him on 22nd and it's so sad... he was brilliant, but by now, he's rather ridiculous than overwhelming

  • 1:16 .. tunnnne :)

  • BEFORE HE BECAME A BIG/////........//STAR

  • I have to agree "Rviverdance" hasn't been the same since Michael Flatley and Jean Butler have left the show.

  • @selenafanparasiempre I agree, and it never will be.

  • @Chevaldelune the top and the way its tucked in to the trousers? thats what it is for me.

  • What is the name of the woman singer in this beautiful comedy musicale !

In the River Dance : a short air is chanté (song) by a great singer ?

Who is her and what is the title of this little song is this comedy ?

    Please : help me ! Thank's a lot

  • One of the most difficult dances to learn, my feet ache remembering it!

  • Correction, Riverdance didn't win Eurovision. Eurovision is a song contest, Riverdance were the interval act as the judges placed their votes. Though they were far better than any actual contender on the show!

  • @DrFox88 Flatley felt so bad for the Irish singer who won that year (and received no attention!) that he hired him to sing in Celtic Tiger.

  • This makes me want to be Irish

    lol

  • I agree. This one (1995) was the best show. Jean Butler looks like a dream and is so lithe and graceful when she dances. It seems like this was the most pure show, the music was so moving (and won a Grammy award!) The sound was clear and made you notice every beat.

  • luv the music

  • i get so proud of being irish every time i see and hear any of this

  • I would be too if I was Irish!

  • Super dance....interesting!

  • something that really irritates me is, when people show the ending of the show on youtube, they never show the part where the credits start to roll. the reason i want to see it is because during the credits there is a revised segment of the riverdance theme that is faster and alot better IMO and i can't find it anywhere on the internet which really stinks = (, its one of Whalens best.

  • This is one of my favorites!

I'm going to see the show tomorrow in San Diego, CA

Very excited to be seeing it live.

  • historical moments.....

  • @Meshick Yeah must have been cool to make all that tap dancing fun back in the day.

  • Really magnificent! If only the puffy shirt wasn't so distracting!

  • oi! I Love This music This XD!

  • The year I was born! Kyaah! I have this year on casset tape.

  • LEGENDARY FOOTAGE!! Gives me friggin goosebumps this!

  • Did you know that Flately's legs were insured for £20,000,000.

  • Hahaha, I wouldn't doubt it if you told me so. Sucks for the asshole who breaks them out of jeliousy. xD

  • Those two were and are my favourite out of all the tap dancers from Riverdance! =)

  • At time of this show, Flatley was the record holder with Guiness for taps per minute; officially the fastest "tap dancer"

    on the books.

  • :p Now i c where the crip walk originated kekeke

  • ha, that's funny.

  • Thanks for putting it up. I used to have a video of this show but someone taped over it years ago :( totally agree with you about these two being the best.

  • Nothing has surpassed this since - we need a new one, this was what started us believing in ourselves.... We need the NAMA Swing...

  • Their version is still the very best. I can see how the audience were moved the way they did when they first saw it. The singers, the music, them two -- it's simply a magical moment that cannot be repeated.

  • i dont know the one in the eurovision 1994 intermission comes very close

  • just fantastic, jean and michael.. they look so awesome

  • this is real dancing, it takes real skill

  • 2:33-2:45 Holy crap!

  • They do look in love in this, don't they?

  • Jean was nervous during this 1995 show: he was not. The fixed idiot grin was his way of telling her "loosen up".

    She gets the message. They've

    actually had some differences over

the years, but remain in touch. He is

married to one of his dancers, Niamh O'Brian.

  • Thanks for the info BK57! I knew he had married N.O. but thought this was from before, and the way they look at each other, even if it was just for the show, well it looks like sparks to me! lol

  • @bookkeeper57 and has a son with Niamh :) i don't know if it's relevant or not, but i think his story is quite incredible

  • michael flatley=legend

  • I FRIGGIN LUV THIS!!! Their chemistry together is absolutely electric!

  • -i agree! just amazin, words cant even describe the perfection of this dance....

  • Riverdance was the best with Michael and Jean. Magic.

  • i love 3:29 it is soooo cool and gives me shivers

  • the dance is great but the music is outta this world its the best...even best is not gud enough to classify this masterpiece.

  • Still gives me shivers watching this, very proud to be Irish!

  • that look she gives him at 2:28 would make me cum in my pants. sorry for lowering the tone

  • You're right this is & was the best Riverdance show with Michael Flatley & Jean:):)!!!!!!!!! Thank you for putting this up I've been searching for it for ages since I saw a documentary years ago!!!!

  • the is the BEST riverdance show.

  • i think if we're honest, the best part of this has got to be his hair. reaches a new paradigm in the world of permed mullets. extravagant!

  • YOU DECIDE

  • so you have a book full of "I love you's"? Well for each and everyone of those books you have I have a book full of goodbyes, and everytime it is said, WAYHEY! there we go, you never leave.... so what do you keep harping on about

  • wats the tune called at 2.22?

  • It's just called "Riverdance"

  • I use to have this tape too. Sadly it no longer works. these people are awesome.

  • They're both so great. Perfect dance.

  • thank you are for your kind comments.

i'll be doing a new show next year and i'm holding auditions in my room.

any woman under 30 is welcome come along and have a go.

the show features me dancing with a dead woman on my arm while spinning plates using only the power of my green thong. so it's a departure from what you've just seen but i think you'll like it.

  • this made me laugh so fucking hard... =)

  • cool

  • just perfect ..she's the best..looks like Nicole Kidman...

  • It's shame the song at the start hasn't been included as that's part of it.

  • absolutely, i'm clicking around looking for that song it's gorgeous...x

  • I found it a short while back: watch?v=mD5lFbvy3ek

  • This is my favorite Riverdance clip. Michael is the best and Jean matches his every step with a look of "Take That" in her eyes.

    Magnificent !!!

  • @Tadju50 I agree...there was a very distinct chemistry/dynamic between Jean Butler and Michael Flatley here. I saw this performance when it was in Albany, NY and it was the most thrilling show I'd ever seen. She was his best partner.

  • @Tadju50 It's one of mine too. Hard to believe it's been so long since I first seen this!

  • Riverdance was a phenomenon. I wish I could have gone to see it when these two were in the leading parts. It's just electric and gets right inside you... such passion and energy. Right I'll shut up now... but bloody love it!!!

  • i love the music so so much, it just makes you tap your feet and want to get up and dance!!

  • I went to the original show in Dublin-im so glad you put this video up, i love it-great memories!!

  • Michael Flately! PERFECTION at it's BEST! He can NEVER be equaled!!!!

  • Undoubtedly the BEST version. :-) Thanks for posting!

  • She, and every1 else are so talented it's amazing

  • Riverdance is Amazing Great credit dur to all past and present it has made ireland.

  • Those jumps at 0:20 are fantastic... :)

  • AWESOME

  • michael flatley is such a cocky egomaniac but riverdance just isnt the same without him

  • riverdance just isnt the same without michael flatley

  • @mgolata and jean Butler

  • @mgolata Exactly; it's better. This video was during the time before he got full of himself. He didn't get what he wanted, like a little kid in a candy store, so he left the show and made Lord of the Dance, a show all about him,

  • @Bobsle-You are so wrong. He was fired from Riverdance because he refused to give the producers copyright to his choregraphy and because the producers did not want a "star" because they wanted to tour several versions of the show simultaneously to make lots of money. They couldn't do that if the show was identified with MF. He was devastated and when he spoke with his parents, his father told him that the only way to prove that Riverdance was his (which it was), was to do another show.

  • @raymonda100

your so right, he is an amazing artist in his own right

going to see him on sunday 7th november in liverpool, cant wait be fantastic x

  • @raymonda100 THANK YOU!!! YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!

  • @mgolata

Hi, what happened with Michael? here we have too small info, but we are fans of lord!

  • @kasparovdechile Michael bought a big house here in Ireland, in a little town called Fermoy. About 20 mins from me.(Which is being sold/been sold) he lived there for a few years. He also has a mansion of a house out somewhere hot.. france/spain...not sure. He married a beautiful young woman (you would to if your legs were insured for millions! lol) and they have a gorgeous little baby boy! Everyone is wondering if the little man will love to dance too!

  • @mgolata

Hi, what happened with Michael? here we have too small info, but we are fans of lord! and right he was power!

  • thats soooooooo gd luv it!

  • their personalities go so well together! they make this dance a lot of fun to watch! I have this VHS also and I watch it a lot, esp around St. Patrick's Day

  • The Best thing to come out of Eire in a long time.

To the Hill Of Tara..please and dance.

  • I have this song on my iPod, and woah, I can't stop dancing to it. Lost like 2 stone dancing to it. In only 1 month!! Good tip for weight loss. ;) I did this dance for a show, and let me tell you, desperate for breath after. I have this on video but it is still gold to me. Thanks for posting this. Shear delight!

  • I am so glad I'm going to see this is April X)

    Awesome show xx

  • Thank you SO SO much for posting this...I have the VHS, too, but I could never figure out how to convert it. This is a beautiful show that I have been watching over and over since my Grandmother gave it too me when I was little.

  • great dance and music i'm practicing irish dancing because of the inspiration i got from this movie

  • Fabulous. I've been trying to find this particular song for ages.

  • there is one thing I don't understand. when jean butler is dancing with micheal flatly she always doesn't looks glad, but when she is dansing with another man she looks glad, why?

p.s I'm from sweden and i really LOVE riverdance!

  • Maybe's gotta something to do with the first shows, because, you can almost see them counting the steps. Later on they got more comfortable. And of course she felt better dancing next to Colin Dunne. But as someone else said, Jean and Michael looked magical together.

  • Why Colin Dunne?

  • She had already danced with him prior to this show.

  • the original will always be my favorite version. Everytime I type it in or try to search for it online, I always get the more recent versions.

  • Flatley is more of a showman than recent dancers on the show; that's why he lights it up more than anyone else can

  • this is what i've been looking for. everytime i type in riverdance it comes up with that other version!

  • Jean is the most beautiful woman in the world!

  • A real cutie, ain't she?! She could even get me up and dancing and boy, would that be a feat!

  • Jean is gorgeous

  • Thanks for sharing this! The one and only version of Riverdance I have seen is the one done a few years later Live in New York with Collins and Butler.

I still don't like that blue silk shirt though, lol, it jiggles around too much, and is distracting! :P

  • 14 years on and its still incredible to watch.......

  • I love Irish women !! Ole !!

  • I can watch it over and over again... And it always makes me smile :)

  • AWESOME
