  • I'm hoping to maybe this year put up some squirrel hunting video too, but I'm going to use an air rifle.

I'll leave the bow for the deers

  • do you eat them, or do you rape the carcasses?

  • do you shoot instinctive or gap?

  • there is this city in finland, big city where they feed wild squirrels and result is that squirrels arent that wild anymore :D they come beg for food xD

  • 12 gauge is better !

  • Good job

  • great shooting man! thanks for sharing!

  • I shoot them with my .22

  • could i get enything with a 40lb bow?

  • @theshotism I killed my first whitetail with a 40lb recurve!

  • Do you use broadheads for hunting squireels or do you use some type of judo tip?

  • @farmermarley just judos or muzzy grasshoppers which are pretty much judos, lol. never had any problems with them, I even killed one at 53 yards this year with my 55lb recurve and judos

  • Damn you nailed that 2nd squirell to the tree great shot!

  • Great job. What make bow you shooting?

  • man it must suck having closed seasons. here in aus its open all year for everything except hog deer and we have about five varieties of deer but they only have anlter growth through 2 months or so of the year. we also have hogs goats foxes rabbits scrub bulls and water buffalo also all open slather so to speak and not even for deer is there a bag limit unless imposed by the property. id go nuts if i couldnt bow hunt at least once every three months

  • Child protection agencies keep an eye on this pedophile.

  • @Deltrintem1 dude that is hillarious, I go to your profile and see nothing but videos of little girls! Fuckin doushebag!!

  • poor squirrel :( (but nice shots!!!!!)

  • does your dad own cedar arrows co hahahaahahah i try that i went poor house with arrows

  • awsome vid glad i found it, i have never hunted with bow before i shoot bow for the fun but have yet to take my archery class to get my stamp, but i love to squirrel hunt, here in upstate new york our squirrel season goes from sept first to feb 25th and we have no season for fox squirrels open season on them all year round with no daily bag limits

  • not sure what your regs are but have you tried thumper arrows? they are awsome on small game

  • It tasty like chicken lol

  • Are you using blunts or what/

  • Hey bud seen some of your posts on trad gang.. I was like shit, thats guitararcher!! I got my third squirrel the other day over here in Idaho.. They are just about as fun as it gets to hunt with stick and string.. keep them coming man

  • Damn, wish I could hunt them right now:(. We have freakin seasons, lol. Good job on that third squirrel, was it a gray, fox or one of them piney's? Either way they are fun and they taste good, but them pineys are hard to hit!!! I still haven't hit one myself. Been close but no cigar. tradgang is where its at! And tradbow, and or course youtube:)

  • @Guitararcher Yeah just got back from a squirrel hunt.. Got two shots off.. Missed both.. but hey at least i got out there.. All the squirrels I shot have been reds.. how do you think the tails would do for silencers? I need to put new silencers on my string and I was thinking of using squirrel tail.. I havent been able to find any info out about it on the internet but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

  • I think it could work??? I was actually just thinking about that not to long ago. I would say that the bone has to be taken out and the skin would have to be tanned or the hair will fall out!

  • squirrel hunting awsome, nice shooting. the field target is my favorite way to practive my traditional shooting.

  • careful youll go cross eyed shooting at something that small.lol People dont realize how hard it is to hunt the little things.I have a hard time to hit the little buggers with the 12 guage, lol,but if you want the ultament try woodcock if you have them in your area .you have about a second and a half before they take off at warp nine.lol. good vid.

  • That second squirrel you shot just sat there with the arrow in his back...I think he was paralyzed! I don't know why, but I think it's so funny when he finally fell outta the tree! Great shot dude!

  • Another good video.

    Good stuff.

Them little suckers are a hoot

    to shoot at.

  • good stuff , keep 'em coming !

  • well done!!!

  • DUDE- I- LOVE- IT!!! You have great talent for this venue. I think your vids are great!!! Next year I'm gonna get serious (but still have fun) about hunting squirrels w/ trad equipment, it's my new favorite hunt! Til next time, take care.

  • yea brother I am with you, they are one of my favorite animals to hunt, but rabbits got em beat, lol!

  • do you use field points to shoot them or do you use a judo or something like that

  • judos!!!

  • @Guitararcher whats your draw weight

  • @SuperThickshake 55# @28 :)

  • Awesome Vids Brother!!!! You can hunt in Jersey anytime..Dave

  • Hey nice "squirrel" hunting video,

  • im pretty sure they are red tails they are pretected now

  • 5 inches from noes to butt

  • i had a few over a spit but i honestly couldnt tell you what kind and yeah they are like 5 inches but not very hard to hit i think i have only missed 1. i think squirrels are reletivly easy to shoot . how far are the shot your are taking ?

  • most of my shots are close to 20 yards, and when the leaves drop they get even farther. The one squirrel that was up in the tree was approximatly 15 yards away and 15 yards up, the one while I was in the treestand was 24 yards away!

  • i guess your squirrels are bigger than the ones here i have eaten a quirrel when i was out but to eat them at home you would need about 4 or 5 for one person

  • you must have those little piney squirrels probably like 5 inches nose to tail? The ones I am hunting are grays and they are closer to 12 inches total, and the fox squirrels are even bigger yet, usually like one per person! They taste best over a spit!

  • You eat the squirrels?

  • heck yes, the taste great!

  • Great videos. I've watched most of them so far and am really enjoying them.

  • guitararcher: Hunt Hard. Kill Swiftly. Waste Nothing. Make No Apologies. That's all that is needed to be said to people like JMW. Keep up your good hunting and videos boy, I enjoy every last one of them.

  • Hey, that was a great video! I really enjoy bowhunting gophers. Do you use any specific type of points when shooting into trees to keep the arrows from sticking?

  • anymore for shooting into trees I used flu flu arrows with a judo tip. Only one time has a judo stuck in a tree that I shot up in, it fell a few days later, I have never shot into a soft wood tree like pines or firs. But I am used to the hard woods. Hope that helps! Best of luck

    Chris

  • Hey, thanks for the info. I am gonna have to get a dozen flu flus for tree shooting. How did your deer hunting go this year?

  • Ive done okay, check out my smorgasbord video to see for your self! There is another coming after christmas, so keep an eye out!

  • Wow, I see what you mean about them (antis) liking you too haha. They're quite frustrated by the things that confuse them the most. Someone obviously brought you up right....I know you've inspired me to try harder on my videos. This is some great footage you've put together. Keep it real man, well done.

  • wow that is amazing squirrel hunting. i just use a 22 with a scope and they are easy to pick off... but a bow!? that takes alot of skill, congrats man on your squirrels. have a good dinner and happy hunting! :)

  • Mate, I love your video's.

They remind me of Fred Eichler doing video's for Easton. And that is a good thing. Keep it up!

  • thanks I love when people say that, he is my hero!!!

  • Yes, he is a true example.

You are well on your way!

  • JMW...what do YOU do to help the wild places and the animals that live in them? What money do you contribute? The money from hunting licenses goes into conservation and land enhancement for wild creatures. Just remember, that The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton Nat. Parks (among others) you so enjoy were protected by Teddy Roosevelt, an evil, brainless, ego-driven hunter. JMW you're a dumbshit. You wanna protect wildlife?? Then BUY A HUNTING LICENSE!!

  • Firstly, you know nothing of any environmental work I do. Secondly, just because there is a contributing factor to the money used toward hunting licenses to offset the damage done does not justify it.

  • the money from our hunting lisences does not offset the damage done by it. It offsets the damage done by city folk, who throw trash in the street, cause erosion, and polute our waterways!

  • Uh, it's a yes or no question you dumbass. And NO, you NEVER answered my question. Who's the pea-brained idiot now? Can't even answer a simple question..... hahaha...laughable.

  • Who is this anti hunting clown Jmw122283? Hey JMW, I have one question for you....ever had a chicken sandwich? Or a steak? Or a hamburger? Post a response here and I will respond...

  • You don't know the difference between squirrel and chicken?

You are just another squirrel-murdering barbarian with the sophistication of a dog.

I answered your question too many times and concluded that pea-brained, depraved people like, who didn't get it by now, will probably never get it.

  • o god, not you again. Ha have some more squirrel hunting footage, as you can see. Hope you enjoyed, these squirrels tasted good too. Dad shot 4 more last weekend, ate the one on a spit over a fire, probably the best way I have ever eaten squirrels!

  • I didn't comment on your video as I kept on getting the error message.

Squirrel murderers like you, your bandit father, and all others are simply too depraved individuals to get the broader understanding of hunting in general, and are incapable or unwilling to grasp all aspects of hunting squirrels. The only aspect of hunting that concerns you is how the animal tastes.

Thus, the only solution is to SHOOT YOU! That's what I will be doing wherever I catch all of you murdering squirrels.

  • your are whacked, lol. Like I said in the last video before I deleted it, I dare you to come at me, crazy hunters like myself always have a knife on us, not to mention I would love to see you try and get into my house, after the dog was done with you I would haul you off the the cops! Anyway, I like when you give your dumbass opinions, gives my video more activity, lol. So thanks!

  • Yes I've had Chicken, Yes I've had Hamburgers, and Steak. The difference is I don't claim they were some great challenge for me. If I needed to I would kill one for survival. I don't need to, and so I don't kill them. I realize human beings are designed to eat meat, and so I do, to mimic what would be natural and best for my diet. Killing animals for recreation or preference is needless and wasteful. The difference is the reason, it's clear Guitar learned this from his poor upbringing.

  • Ahh you said you dont need to kill one for your survival, you are wrong. Everytime you go to the store and purchase a steak, your demand causes the guys on the farm to kill that cow! Your purchase is just as lethal as loading the 22.

  • Killing animals for "recreation" is not needless and wastefull. I use ever part of any animal I kill. As far as the needless part, why dont you walk in a city park where there is not hunting pressure, the damn things are so hungary, that they will beg for food on the picinic blanket of some people. Look it up on youtube there are countless videos of squirrels in city areas, where there are no predators. I dont get why all you antis would rather see the animals you cherish die of starvation!?

  • you can say shit about my upbringing all you want, the fact is that I was raised with good morals and that is something your just going to have to live with, if you judge me for hunting, than something is wrong with your upbringing. I think you are the one with the poor upbringing, if you were not raised to except and learn from others differences?

  • You were raised on what you call good morals Guitar, not actual good moral code, you self validate. Squirrels in parks as an example don't eat from people from starvation, it's a learned behavior from people feeding them regularly. You're missing the point again by using an absoluteist attitude. By definition killing anything purely for recreation is wasteful and needless as it did not "need" to die. I eat meat from supermarkets, sure, but to live, not going out of my way to kill something.

  • For all the anti hunters: You despise hunting, yet many of you eat meat. You call us cowards because we partake of hunting. Here's my analogy:

Anti's indulge in eating meat, yet won't kill their own food. Wild animals can run away, while domestics are raised in cages until slaughter. But antis think that's ok. They outsource killing because they lack the balls to see an animal die. I think EVERYONE should, at least once, kill an animal, skin it, and eat it themselves. YOU are the coward.

  • See you make the mistake of being an absoluteist. I never said I was anti-hunting. I never said I hadn't ever killed animals. Hunting however should be used as a means for survival, not recreation. I have killed animals pal, but when I was a kid, and have since realized it was the act of a child. Playing with life and death as though it were your right unless you needed to to live. It is a sadistic and juvenile act. A man fights to overcome adversity or survival. You do not.

  • I dont think you get something that we are trying to say, we choose utilize a cleaner more natural food source. It is no different from going to the store, we just like the wild meat better. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL!

  • Right, so you choose to actively participate to killing more animals than are already being supplied because of your selfish recreation and preferences. Furthermore squirrels provide little meat so you have to kill several of them to even make anything. I'm glad you can type in caps, how about you go have a time out in the corner if you're going to throw a temper tantrum. It's a shame when little kids are given weapons to play with, they always end up misusing them.

  • just face the facts you are to stupid to fathom the idea that hunting wildlife has a defined place in our society. Not to mention how definate its place is in our ecosystem. Hunting does more for the environment than sitting on your ass will. I can say that every year I go out and purchase a hunting and fishing lisence, we are talking a hundred bucks a year easy, then factor in all the other stuff I buy arrows, broadheads, bows, clothing.

  • All of those purchases have a nominal amount of money taken from them towards the environment. It is a little thing called the Pittman and Robertson act. That means every state park/forest, national parks and forests. The maintaining of these facilities all are due to these hunters who like to spend there money. Not to mention all the jobs hunters create by doing so. So not only do we help the environment, we help our economy. What the hell have you done? Quick awnser nothing so shut up!

  • I love how you changed the topic to make it sound like what you are doing is somehow beneficial. Explain again how it is that hunting SQUIRRELS that live only a few years is helping the environment? There isn't overpopulation, they aren't starving and you aren't doing it for survival. So what if it has found a place in society, so have the people in mental institutions... That doesn't mean it is a good place or something to be proud of. A useless, childish hobby for a boring person.

  • let me explain something to you, the ecosystem is ever winded together with everything. If you manage a smaller species in any food web then it will create a ripple effect throughout the local ecosystem. That is why squirrels are important to manage, more than anything they are a food source for other animals. Hawks, falcons, and owls. If there is a coyote or raptor problem it is because there is a squirrel problem!

  • do you have a dog or cat? If so then mabye that dog or cat could be picked off by a red tailed hawk, because they are drawn to the area due to the ever increasing squirrel population. dont get me wrong, squirrels are useful, they are the johnny appleseed of the woods, they plant alot of trees. That is what sets me appart from you, I can see the benifits of every living creature, and even though I cant see it in you, I am sure you will benifit the world somehow? Or not?

  • Notice how this isn't the first argument you made, since it isn't the reason why you're doing it. I'm sure you have no idea if there actually is a hawk or coyote problem near you and are just trying to cite that as a loose example. Have you consulted any Ecologists in the area? Or even the local Colleges? Simply put, you're not doing this for that purpose, and if you were you wouldn't be posting the damn videos on Youtube to highlight your archery skill.

  • I already told you I've completed my degree and am about to pursue a graduate degree, I have no doubt I will benefit the world much more than yourself playing in the woods with your little bow while I actually help people. It's a very weak forms of arguing to try to undermine / attack your opponent when it is irrelevant (see Ad Hominems.) The fact remains you're not hunting squirrels for any of the novel reasons you keep coming up with. Hence the Youtube videos to show off. Talk about boring

  • what myself going for my own degree while hunting is different from you getting your degree without hunting? I am confused, mabye a fellow about to get a degree would realize that he should not think of himself as a better person because the person is different? What is more important than hunting squirrels to eat, so what if I film it in the process. Ahh but you would rather me film myself killing a elephant that I would not eat? There is not a hawk or coyote problem in my area by the way!

  • @Guitararcher just dont pay no mind to him people that arent raised into hunting or introduced into it dont understand the whole conservation of land and game by hunters and the tax and hunting equipment like u mentioned down below

  • Again, just because there is a certain amount contributed to offset hunting does not justify doing it. This is a red herring issue and is offtopic. True conservation is a direct approach, not as an indirect means that serves your own selfish interest first.

  • So where are you getting your degree from? What education level is it? I have no problem with "different" people, I do however have issues with people who support ideologies that have already been established to be incorrect. Your filming it in the process suggests you are not here for the noble intentions you presented. I would not rather you filming an elephant you would eat, you are putting words into my mouth. I noticed how you didn't cite any sources for overpopulation I asked for.

  • I am getting a degree in film, duh!?!?! It is college level of course. I wouldnt think that I would need to cite anything I say on youtube?? Noone, I mean NOONE has studied the overpopulation of squirrels in such areas, because they find the significance of squirrels useless. The truth of the matter is that squirrels plant trees, and provide food for predators. That is there duty in life. If squirrel populations get out of hand there will be a problem for them!

  • The problem for them is that they will not have enough food to survive the winter. Lets say the population decreases by 20% over the fall months heading into the winter. Then the hawks and falcons are not going to stay in the area because there is not any food. By now the squirrels have eaten almost all the nuts they have burried-not many new trees. Then after the hawks leave, mice are up in numbers. Going into houses, carrying disease.

  • Basically EVERYTHING is together on the food chain. Everything on this earth is a animal. Including humans, I dont understand how a fellow with a degree cant understand that he too is part of this worlds intricate food web. And that he is no less guilty of killing animals. The difference is that I save money on meals because I choose to go out and get some clean natural meat. There is nothing wrong with that. Every animal on this earth is food. Some just choose to utilize it!

  • Great video as always. Really good shot with squirrel number two. Keep on hunting!

  • I dont hunt because the animals are posing a threat, I hunt because I like to eat!? I dont think a gorilla, elephant or a lion would taste good so I will probably never kill one! As for disproportionate effort! Squirrel hunting with a traditional bow is probably one of the most challenging hunts of my bowhunting career! Sure you want to see someone shoot at a elephant the size of a house, but a target the size of a walnut is not challenge?

  • You don't need to hunt squirrel to eat, you can always buy food, so you're not hunting because you like to eat. Shooting a squirrel with a bow isn't a challenge as you can usually walk within 5 feet of one, and they aren't trying very hard to get away. The reason my examples are more difficult of a challenge is that although they're bigger targets, they actually have a good chance at killing you if you shoot at them. I have a feeling they'd think you taste equally good. Get to it.

  • you need to hunt squirrels to eat squirrels. There is no other meat like squirrel meat. And around here squirrels do not let you get that close, that crap only happeneds in urban areas and parks. Walk in some real woods they will not let you get within 20 yards. I dont get your fasination with the hunt what can kill you? I dont need any danger to make something awesome, you need to get out of that city mentality, and get your unsheltered self out in the real world!

  • In the real world, a Man is defined by someone who does not needlessly destroy things that are not challenging or are not for survival, that is the act of children. It would be like me picking a fight with the weakest person in a bar simply because I could and enjoyed it. A very adolescent mentality. Considering you're hunting squirrels for entertainment, I would definitely say you're the more sheltered of the two of us. If you've got that much extra time on your hands, get another job.

  • You are the 25 year old sitting behind a computer telling others they are childish. I hate to break it to you but I will hunt squirrels for the rest of my life. Not because they are going to kill me, or because I like it, but because they make one hell of a good pot pie. Get that through your thick 25 year old skull. I hunt squirrels because I like to eat them. I dont care what you folks in the city think about it.

  • Wow you managed to discern I'm 25 from my obvious username. Congratulations. You call hunting squirrels challenging yourself? I'm a college graduate and about to pursue my graduate degree. If you're the "King of Challenge," challenge yourself with a better education. You don't see me stomping on flowers and eating them and saying it's a challenge because of my technique and liking to eat flowers. You're talking about my time spent on the computer, yet you're the one posting the videos pal.

  • You wouldnt be able to kill a squirrel with a trad bow, hell you slickers couldnt kill one with a bazooka! So if you want to talk challenge, I am the king of challenge. I have been around the western hemisphere and I am the sheltered one, lived in the city as well as the country! I have done things in my 18 years of exsitence that you couldnt dream of because I challenge myself, so before you go and judge me because of my culture, think about what you say!

  • I am proud of you Jmw122283!

You have touched upon a couple of worthy, illuminating aspects of squirrel hunting. Your reasoning was logical, commonsensical and morally supported.

Your dialogue with that despicable squirrel-murderer Guitararcher demonstrated what I noticed long ago how diminished ethically, character-wise and intellectually the squirrel murdering subhumans are.

I am so fed up with the atrocities of those criminals of the nature that I just want to exterminate them.

  • flankers you are one messed up sob!

  • another five star vid...great work

  • That was great. Good shooting.

  • Dude, that was an awesome video! Great shooting, and great video work! I like the effects on your intro...that was awesome! It's so refreshing to watch a quality video since many of the videos on youtube are trash! Great job, and fantastic shooting! Makes me want to quit my damn job and just hunt 24/7! Keep 'em comin!

  • I just posted a comment and it's not on here....where did it go???

  • were do you get a bow like this, am thinking of getting one

  • It is a deer master take down by greatree archery, just go on 3rivers archery's website or google them. I would strongly suggest them to anyone, but I would also suggest a flemish string because the string that comes with it is too long, and the flemish strings you can adjust!!

  • you smoked 'em! love watching your videos. hope to see more soon!

  • Great shootin Chris, well put together. Thanks Steve

  • Great Video 5 star..very well done...!

  • THWACK lunch.... us chris' are all the same. shoot longbow myself. traditional straight bow. self made arrows and arrow heads (at my forge) and a self made back quiver.

  • good shooting chris hope to chat you up soon
