  • I love this song

  • This is one of the songs that when you hear it on the radio you truly feel it. It's songs like this that makes me proud of the generation I grew up in and not today's music.

  • Kurt Cobain brought me here, thanks Kurt.

  • I remember being only four years old when I first heard this song. That was back in 1997. I was always a quiet baby, but when I finally started speaking, these song lyrics were among my first words. By the time I was five, I had this song memorized and sung along to it all day, always demanding it be played while on a car ride. To this day, this remains one of my favorite songs, along with American Pie and I Got You Babe. I'm so glad I grew up with this music.

  • I feel so sorry about the loss of a good friend or familymember.Actually i was a black sheep in the family too.I wish i could apologize to my dear departed, furthermore i miss them dearly as well as the good old times like the simple, easy and freedom filled 70`s.I would do everything to go back to these days.Have my Peugeot 504 again and listen to the disco stuff or ride my dirtbike and sing this song along my ride and most of all be free in a simple world.

  • This song is going to play on my funeral

  • I grew up loving this song and still do

  • Weird when i read fuguitive season 2 ,i somehow connected it with a song -yeah seasons in the sun- so listened it for the first time carefully and thoroughly.Man did it ever bring back memories of my childhood in belgium.I heard it everywhere even in my schoolbus but i was wondering why is he singing: its hard to die and pray for me,so i figured he is going the army now and why would someone sing about death and kept me wondering until now.I cried and cried and feel so sorry.Life is so temporary

  • I really liked this song in my freshman yr of high school and all my so-called friends thought i was a freak by liking it...well years later it all makes sense...life is precious.

  • I have always loved this song.....it never became clear until last year the meaning......last year i lost my dad and brother......still f'ing grieving...should not listen to it... but i am sadly drawn to this song..................

  • @01mevans Im 10 years old,i prefer Jack FM rather then "The Beat 94.5'' All you get in my CRAPPY generation is "Shaaaawty i wanna love you tonight, give me kisses baby baby baby ohhhhhhh." (dont get me wrong i like jb but that song is crap) EVERYTIME i hear this song i cant help but to cry,the tears come FLOODING out. When i grow up i want to be a rock n roll artist,im going to bring the 80's back!!!!

  • Apparently he didn't die, but he did get a divorce.

  • @hankbob2000 isn't it almost a death?

  • chill song...

  • After almost 40 years I still don't know if it's about a terminal illness or suicide.

  • @hankbob2000 i was told at the time he was diagnosed with cancer & had months to live?

  • @hankbob2000 Its about growing old and facing death

  • @holdempoker95 Death or chance of death yes, going to war, terminal illness, old age, suicide or even prison would fit . I think the fact that the reason is never stated makes this song even more powerful.

  • Hes a good man,we know him personely,he did the music in my grandmas video,an dont call me liar.

  • To the Nirvana no brain..... this version by Terry Jacks sold more than 10million copies, one of very few.

    Nirvana - who?

  • @gingawho1 And how many of those copies were sold after Kurt Cobain said it was his favourite song....quite a few I believe.

  • "Seasons in the Sun" is an English-language adaptation of the song Le Moribond by Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel with lyrics by American singer-poet Rod McKuen.

  • Dear Ponsie, you are not aware of how big this song was when it came out...I am a reasonably big Nirvana fan, and had no idea they sang it, but I can remember growing up , pretty young at the time, and heard this song many times every day on the radio..for a long time ..

  • remember the nights only am radio?

  • I liked the Nirvana version oddly enough!!

  • Kurt Cobain made this song famous. Kurt would be responsible for 5 million of these views. That's the only reason I viewed it :p I love the way Nirvana covered it:)

  • "Kurt Cobain made this song famous."

@Ponsle This song sold more than 10 million copies worldwide in 1974. With the possible exception of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," it is more well-known than anything ever penned by Cobain.

  • I used to sing this song in my poor english, when I was 12 or 13 y.o., and lived in Argentina. Never thought i would ear it again... Same for Soap (I use it) by David Gates... Thanks folks, for share this old songs...

  • @theguywithoutafoot Thanks for sharing that with us. Now everytime i listen to this i will hear your version running through my head.

  • @juliano66 Now thats funny.

  • @juliano66 Our version was: "we had joy we had fun flicking bogeys at the sun, but the sun was too hot and turned it in to snot!" at about the same time as you.

  • @juliano66 ours was we had joy we had fun flickng bogeys at the sun but the sun was too hot and it turned it into snot - lol love the way kids change words to songs

  • @mazdatobbe: how can it be a child? It clearly says "too much wine.... Wonder how I got along...

  • what a great song, whatever happened to ballads with meaning?..don't write them like this anymore what a crying shame...

  • that's the really music x all the season

  • looooove this song......just brings me back to a simpler time....miss it.....

  • I like to listen to this song around this time of year. My dad died in March of 1997 and I like to think he would have dedicated this song to me before he died. My first name is Michele.

  • wonderful!

  • I used to like this song, that is untill I read a book about a father and 3 sons , The father was an alcholic and him with his 2 oldest sons killed the youngest son. In the book the middle son recalls how the youngest son liked this song and it was playing over and over in his head as he watched his older brother kill his younger brother. Since I read that book which is a true story I have not enjoyed this song the way I used to.

  • @wesleync Don't get affected mate.. Cheeeeeeeerss...

  • Beautiful memories.

  • A few people have commented that this song is about suicide. I don't see it. I have always thought this is someone that does not want to die. I think it is about someone with cancer or other issue.

  • this song is so corny, so maudlin that it has to be one of the top ten worst songs ever.

  • NIce song!

  • This song reminds me of when I had to run away from an abusive home, my fiance pretty much ignored me at that time when I needed him, if I had heard this song at the time, I probably would of committed suicide because at the time I was feeling very suisidal.

  • Terry Jacks had a great hit with a song about suicide, and this song saved me shortly after my 18th birthday, when I was contemplating killing myself and this was played on the radio, which was a rare occurance at that time because of its subject matter. Thanks Terry!!

  • @tcsilver...I am 44 :)

  • Can't stop crying.

  • This song was, and is, awesome. It brings back soo many great times. Yes, it was so much easier back then. I just bet that if we posted comments back then, they would have been more pleasant. It's a simple matter of respect, but many just don't know that. At any rate, awesome song and Peace always...

  • @pipefitter0127 You need help on your trolling, The delivery is too fast, You leave yourself open to comments proving your stupidity (This isnt a radio and you stayed long enough to comment not once but twice, If you use more than 2 exclamation points it shows you have a nervous tick (Your anonymous dont be nervous) and lastly you are trolling a song which has been around alot longer than you (the people who click on have common sense and probably dont want to argue).Work on it!!
