Thanks for the reply and you bring out all the beautiful sound that's so much like Oz's Dobro.I like the old style of the Dobro like you play;in fact I quite playing on account of the new sounds of the modern resonator guitars, makes me sick at the direction bluegrass music has turned.Keep up the good picking and I look forward to hearing you more .Incidentally, would you know who played the Dobro in the Osborn Bros. Red Allen recording from back in the sixties ? Regards
It was Shot Jackson! The Osbornes & Red recorded this in July 1957 at RCA Studios in Nashville. Back then, Shot did most of the session work on Dobro for the various artists recording in Nashville.
This is a factory restored Model 27 Dobro (from 1929) which I actually bought at the Dobro Factory in California, in 1981. It was originally a round neck which had the neck broken and the factory replaced the neck with a square neck plus they also refinished it. I keep it in G tuning.
This band is the "Stone Hearth Band", but presently she has the "Beth Coleman Band" which has 3 of the same members as here. Beth just released a new CD called "Back Home To Galax."
I love the older songs - you can't beat a fiddle, guitar, banjo and an old upright bass. The band does a great job with this song - one of the most popular I believe of the 50's. Pure bluegrass - wow Thanks. - Paula
I finally found this song!! My mom and her 3 sister's would harmonize to this song and play guitar.. brings back fond memories of the family jammin' to tunes in the early 80's... great video..
What can I say. Tremendous harmony, and the instrumentals are terrific. Musicians are great, including the salty banjo picker. Thanks for the post.

@Pickinbuddy Is this song on the CD?

@overcominginertia The song "Once More" is, but not "Ashes Of Love". There are a lot of other equally good songs on the album--I got a copy of it!

@Pickinbuddy Thanks. I will get a copy myself. I found it on Amazon. Great rendition of this tune.

I love this song (Once More). Thanks for posting it! My grandad use to play bluegrass around MD/DC/VA and this was one of the song sheets he had.
