@attemptingtobehumble "In 2009-10, faculty at the NYU and NYU's Medical Center received $294.5 million in federal research and development grant funding." this kid won't be getting any of this money, lawl.
@Svedka2014 My point was that these so called private schools aren't really private if they are receiving federal funding. That wasn't the only funding NYU received.
Transfer to a public school or one that gives financial aid. There are other options, NYU isnt the only great acting program out there: carnegie melon, northwestern, etc. and those schools will give you financial aid.
And how do you expect to live out of a suitcase for a year? thats pretty ridiculous
I find it hard to gather sympathy when there is zero mention of him having or even looking for a job, and by the fact that he goes to an extremely expensive school in an extremely expensive city. A lot of us college kids have money and personal issues. A lot of us are in deep shit. Deal with it, and don't be so pretentious about it.
@bobstful well my friend, you are an outlier if I've ever heard of one. NYU has terrible financial aid across the board, and so I hope your busting your ass in schoolt make every penny of that financial aid worth it.
I know this kid, this isn't fiction, this is very real, and it's not just him, its thousands upon thousands of who struggle to afford becoming an educated and participatory citizen because we live in a country where you buy education like a pair of fucking shoes. This countries education should be meritocratic, it should be based upon who can prove they will work hard. Instead however, its based upon whoever's parents are rich enough to put them through college, regardless of their ambition.

this kid is anything but pretentious. I went to high school with him and he is a very genuine person. Best of luck to him

it would have been better if there was any evidence this wasn’t fiction.

mikemind2002 10 months ago
@mikemind2002 theres a difference between paying 14grand for housing and 30$ for a concert every once in a while.
