i was involved in an accident in a golf and it saved my life (the car was totalled but i did not have a scratch on me). now i am a proud owner of another vw. yes you pay more than the japanese/korean econoboxes but you get what you pay for.
I'm not going to lie, this was probably the best crash test I have EVER seen. That beats all of the BMW's and Audi's ... This is just amazing ... Volkswagen rocks ..
those curtain airbags are a life saver for sure. I wish i would have had them in the old 95 sentra i had a wreck in! would have kept all that glass from hitting me. rated you 5 stars
Took a side impact @ 55mph in an 09 Jetta TDI, with minor injuries. Thankfully the tool that ran the red light was driving a Suzuki Vitara which weighs less. It folded like an accordion. The Jetta held up pretty well considering how fast the guy was going. Glad I wasn't in a Prius.
yeah vw makes some safe cars wih side airbags standard in almos all models. I love how its a considered a compact but when you close the drivers door it sounds like your closing the door on a bank vault.
@2000jeepsahara I'm a freshman in college. My friends and I went out in my Jetta TDI and one of them complained how heavy the door felt. It's not a complaint for me. I love my VW.
Very good compared to some other vehicles I've seen... Where you see the interior front driver seat almost detach from the base - In this video you clearly see the VW Jetta's driver seat stays in better position and still maintains the driver/passenger protection with the higher door panels and side curtain / side airbag !

Wow, this is literally the most controlled side impact I've ever seen.
It looked like the dummy just shrugged it off instead of having his neck flying in the opposite direction.
I want a VW....I just have an 01 civic..

@2000jeepsahara When I got my Jetta the first thing I noticed was how heavy and strong the door felt compared to most cars I've driven.
