i think there were 2 things that made Kurt crucially important to music

1) he successfully wrote clean, minimalist pop songs through a huge sound of distorted Punk (because at the end of the day, "grunge" never existed, the 4 poster boy grunge bands all had different sounds, Nirvana was a PUNK band)

2) Kurt was one of the view mainstream artists who followed and told his fans to pursue indie/underground label artists, covering the Vaselines and the Meat Puppets on national TV? come on now.

This is soo true... I was only 13 when he died. I wish i would'nt have worshiped him. I Was just a little boy chan's right, most of us did'nt know him, or really understand...
