@holynuseternalight Well they hardly ever fight alone. And as a team they help each other (while the enemy each fight on their own). That includes defense and healing. Notice Lightning complaining about having to watch out for Hope? She does most of the work. Snow probably has street skills. Sazh too. The rest is because they work as a team and because they've turned into l'cie. As for Lightning herself, I'd say talent. Her personality causes her to make bold decisions even in a fight.

I think your supposed to go to the shop and upgrade them, with items, Since I play it on Xbox 360 myself, and the map was always there for me.. Also, you use items to upgrade the weapons, certain ones raise it more. Or he using the items he found while stopping in the walk-through.
