This is awesome! It's great to hear Bert lay into Maggie like that. You have to imagine how the original audience was torn--sympathizing with Maggie, but understanding that she deserved to suffer because of the infidelity--sympathizing with Bert, although knowing that she was so difficult for Bill to live with.
Wow, I never knew Bert had so much gumption in her! By the time I started watching in the 70s, she was a widowed saintly matriarch. But really, who can blame Bill Bauer for falling for such a saucy temptress like Mrs. Scott? lol
What's interesting about this scene is how much this linked to Bill's past affairs (with Gloria La Rue, etc.), as well as his drinking problem (and w/ Bert having to deal with both) and also what would happen in the future (when Bill faked his death and come back from the dead with a daughter named Hillary from yet another affair).
