  • I love this recipe. I accidently made it once without the baking powder and my asian friends liked it better. I like them both.

  • What's not to like? Yummers! Blessings, Ang

  • yum!

  • OK this looks good. I think I will try the flour and make some.

I see by the comments it's hard to explain so I will just have to make it and try it myself.

    TFS it with us.

  • nom nom nom! : )

  • They also changed the size of sugar over the years. Then all of a sudden other products did this but kept the same price..

    Yummm That looks really good

  • @tweetnes They changed the sizes on pretty much everything to being smaller but costing the same. The difference is, they don't tell you "use a bag of sugar"... this one is kind of vital as the sizes of the cans are 8 oz. and 12 oz. so that can really affect a recipe

  • @wildheart5 I'm going to try it using only 1 cup sugar and 1 cup of Splenda & If I can find the rice flour. I ll let you know how it turns out. Somethings just have to have sugar for the right texture

  • Blueberries are up there on my short list of favorite fruits. I went back to Argentina for about a year in the eighties and then they didn't have any available in stores (they had no idea what they were), missed blueberry muffins so much! Haven't seen Mochiko flour at my supermarket, have to check around.

  • @ArgentineShamrock I LOVE blueberries ... well, I have never had them just popped in my mouth. Just jam and breads. But yep, they are one of my faves :)

  • can you make the butter mochi now lol i know you said you would at some point but i really want to see it made please.

  • @princessshortie29 That is coming up in a few days.

  • @CookingAndCrafting oooh cant wait thank you

  • Have you ever tried making it with less sugar?

  • @spygirl43 Nope never

  • @spygirl43 Try using splenda.

  • Yum, Looks so good! Hugs!

  • @imperceptibleme it was delicious. I took 3 desserts and they were very well liked :))

  • That looks good. You could put a glaze on it maybe

  • @susankim51 oh no, nothing more is necessary. A glaze would be sooo wrong

  • Looks YUMMY!

  • @dreamer72fem it totally is

  • clearly this is not a diet food, lol

    looks delish!

    xoexo

  • @edenbainbridge yep, clearly not hahaha

  • I love the disposeable pans for parties, you can leave the dirty dishes with your host

    :-)

    It looks wonderful as always!

  • @1DRock37167 yep it was yummy yummy yummy

I always feel guilty for using disposable pans, adding to the huge trash piles here, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

  • Wow - it's beautiful. Since it's so sweet, you must serve it as is? No frosting? I had to look up what Mochiko flour is - ahhh - sweet rice flour. Interesting. I'll look for some and try it. I hate that you have to defend the names of these things. I guess people just want to look smart, when actually they appear rude. Nice video.

  • @thizizliz The blueberries are what make it sweet. I wish I knew really how to explain it because regardless of the amount of sugar that goes in it, it's not super sweet. If that makes any sense? Definitely no frosting as it's not really a cake.

Yeah, when I posted it on the other channel, I think there were 14,000+ views and at least 1,000 of them were people saying, "this is NOT mochi!!!" and other silly things. I think I finally had to do annotations & stop comments.

  • @CookingAndCrafting Crazy - but I think I'll try it; we have a lot of different asian shops so should be able to find it. It's already on my grocery list. Yeah, I was kinda thinking - coffee cake while you were making it. It's very pretty. Heading to bed - g'nite.

  • That looks amazingly scrumptious!! Now I gotta find mochiko flour somewhere!

  • @royalschwarz If you can't find it there, it's available online

  • That's a beautiful cake. It looks very rich and sweet and I bet the kids really loved it! I think I will pass on making this will all the sugar! lol I really want some tho!

  • @wildheart5 Weirdly it doesn't seem rich or overly sweet. I wish I knew how to explain it. It's heavy, doesn't have a strong flavor ... but the blueberries sweeten it up a lot

  • I only bought one box of the mochiko flour in Atlanta! (exactly the same box/brand as what you have, lol!) I have to decide what recipe of yours I want to do with it, I didn't realize I'd be using the entire box otherwise I would have bought more. The box was $1.69

  • @yoyomax12 If you like blueberries, this is good. The butter mochi (coming up) is good...the chocolate is too. Maybe half recipes?? I can also send you some.

  • Cool recipe, I love it! :-)

  • @oniichanrikku Thanks :)

  • Is Mochi just rice flour? Has anyone tried making this with regular flour?

  • @piebird042 Mochiko is a rice dough pouch with a sweet bean filling, and I doubt you can use real flour.

  • @piebird042 It is a sweet rice flour. I think it adds to the flavor. I also think it is much different than flour, really. It's sort of grittier than flour.

  • I think I might make this for my niece next Christmas. She has wheat issues. Is it lighter in texture then a regular cake?

  • @ToriSterling As per my email, it is a heavy cake.

  • Looks super yummy.

  • @TheFerret78 It is to me. I am still not sure if mochi is an acquired taste or not. I've had it all my life

  • OMG! This looks like it would be worth the diabetic coma!!! Lol!! Doubt it would work with splenda

  • @jcrefasi1 Hmm I am not sure. never tried it... but I don't see why you couldn't use Splenda!
