  • I always start out with a large "canner" stew pot. If stew is too watery or loose, add some potato flakes. This stew is best eaten with Homemade drop biscuits!

  • never had brunswick stew but i sure do wanta try it. good job dave looks good

  • I have to admit stews are delicious. I just don't have the patience to wait for them to cook. I would probably use a pressure cooker. Done in half an hour. Looks delectable though.

  • I first had Brunswick Stew in Newport News at the 1969 Denbigh Day celebration.

They made it in a big ol' cauldron and it sure was some kinda good!

  • bbq pit boyz style bbq sauce

  • oh... my... good... ness. this is only second vid I have viewed and you now have my subscription. I have a request. I have been craving stew but my choice of meat is venison (deer; for those who dont know) any other dish like deer steak or chilli (gets gritty and fine in chilli) could you "spice it up". or maybe you know of a different dish with venision. reach out to your fellow southerners! (my cajun blood has plenty of requests ;D)

  • Damn Dave, I haven't had any Brunswick Stew since I was in Georgia about 5 years ago. Now I need to learn to make it. You've inspired me!

  • It's interesting how everyone seems to make this particular dish differently. It seems that the biggest requirement for it is that it has a sort of smoky barbecue-y flavour to it. And that everything else seems debatable far as possible meats and vegetables go.

  • The smoke flavor is supposed to come from your smoked meat. The stew orginated from hunters that used the game they caught at the time and the veggies they had on hand. You should use different meats and veggies to see what you like best.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Man I love your videos!

  • Hey Dave! I really enjoy watching you cook. I've used some your recipes and they turned out great. You do a great job and your dishes look so very delish! Do you have a recipe for stewed potatoes and onions? How about ho cake? These are two things that my grandmother use to make and they are very good. Thanks!

  • Looks delicious.

You should cook this dressed as Elvis as you have a similar accent

  • you're cool man

  • Dave,

Your sauce recipe calls for 1 tbsp garlic and 1 tbsp black pepper but in the video you say 1 tsp of each. Which is correct?

  • colud i do this in a crock pot?

  • Well done, Chef Dave! I prepared this recipe tonight and I have to say it's the best I've had and well worth the time invested. The flavors and texture are fantastic! (We substituted Roma tomatoes and used plain French's mustard.) The results is an amazing bowl of stew, every bit as good as the world-famous Lexington, NC BBQ joints. Thanks for sharing. It's a new "family favorite".

  • I have to try this! It looks sooo yummy!

  • 3:57 melting butter~ haha. Thanks for making these videos. I hope to cook for my future family.

  • all the good men are married or taken :)

  • I really want to try this!! It looks so mouthwatering....

  • Looks awesome, Dave. The cold weather is coming upon us and I've been itching to make some stews and chilis. I love the fall time of year! : ) Dave..do you think this would be good with deer meat? Have you tried it? My daddy's got a freezer full and I think it would be awesome! I'll post and let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the great recipe!

  • it should be awesome with deer meat! I plan on making this again around hunting season.

  • Looks good can't wait to try it.

And man, i gotta try this, looks very good, would you put spices like, hot sauce to make it tangy with spice?

    Thanks From

    Eric.

  • That Brunswick Stew looks very delicious, Dave. =]

    Can't wait to make some!

  • How much butter is in the stew part? I saw it was 1/4 cup of butter for the sauce, but how much did you put in when you started the onions?

  • Whatever it takes it sweat you onions and garlic. About two taable sppons. You could use a little olive oil if you prefer?

    THanks,

    Dave

  • Thanks,Jaybobed, Looks good, but I don't eat pork.what other meat could you suggest beside chicken??

  • Good call on making this stew. Colonial Williamsburg in Virgina makes excellent version of this. It tastes amazing and kills any hangover's you may have. Thumbs up.

  • I made this stew yesterday. Didnt get done till late so I put it in fridge. Heated it up for lunch a few min ago. OM goodness. It is truly wonderful. We all love it. Thanks again Dave.

  • You're the man bro, that looks delicious

  • Hey jaybobed you give me inspiration to learn to cook!

  • it would probably be good over rice

  • Good job as always Dave!!!!!!

  • Liquid smoke!? Never knew there was such thing. I wonder if I can get it here in Japan...

  • I dont know? I buy it in the grocery store, where they sell BBQ sauce and such.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Hey Dave, I don't eat pork. Can I use a substitute, like lamb, or beef? which is best?

  • Which ever would be wonderful! Let me know which you decided? You could use both?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Looks delicious, Dave! Can't wait to try it with my own personal touches. Thanks for another winner!

  • i love ur vids! im a canadian so ya dont see this food every day!

  • My daughter lived in Georgia and I am going to make this for her. She loves Brunswick Stew and I'm sure she will like yours..Thanks Dave

  • Crikey thats another Good one mate!

  • I'm throwin' some pork and chicken on the smoker for this next weekend, then throwing a pork butt and ribs on there too.

  • You have done it once again! Great stuff Dave, thanks for sharing.

  • "Melting buttuhhhhhhhh". Hearing you sing that seriously made me laugh. Good to see a new video from you Dave.

  • Gooood!!!

  • that looks like an awesome meal.

  • "Just cook it, we're supposed to be having fun". Priceless. Great video man! This recipie has more ingrediants than any I've ever seen! But it looked so tasty.

  • Hey dave, I am just curious. You have so many various recipes and they are all amazing, did you learn most of them while being in the military stationed in different countries?

  • Love this Dave! Great video and recipe! 5 big, bright stars*!

  • Good Lord have mercy that looks good!!

    Fav'd! 5/5

  • tastyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Dave!! Thank you. I am going to make this. We missed you. Did they make you Partner? No more 10 min limit huh? Congrats. Well I was very pleased to see that this video had everything a Dave video should have: Italian Seasoning and plenty of affirmations that you can put whatever you want in yours! I like it Dace, keep it up. I think I'll cut back on the corn and Potatoes and replace them with Okra, Collards, and Pineapple! What do you think?

  • yummmmmmm yummmmmm

  • I have come to a conclusion that there are two things Dave would probably take with him if his house was burning on fire:

    1. His dutch oven

    2. Italian seasoning

  • And maybe some butter. :)

  • No, If Dave's House was burning on fire he would cook over it!

  • pic is very clear good job dave

  • Dave you make the best stuff. Love the dutch oven cookin

  • Thanks for adding the ingredients in your description! Thanks a million. Keep those recipes coming!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks great! I was wondering where you got the liquid smoke at, never seen that before.

  • You can get liquid smoke where they sell the bbque sauce and other steak sauces. Comes in a brown bottle most of the time.

  • daum. i could smell that almost

  • love it...you got a short rib dish?

  • i love to cook but every time i cook o have to clean after my self so now am going to try your method see if it works...

  • good eatin dave

  • Nice food looks tasty.

  • NEW CAMERA :D ?

  • Maaaaaaan this looks GOOOOOOOD!

  • Dave is feeding the five thousand =)

  • Hey Dave. I am wondering what the butter does to the bbq sauce. Thanks, Llama

  • It makes it better, as is butter's custom. I would have used a whole stick but Dave is conservative (And smarter than me) with his Butter and Sugar.

  • i cook it i clean it thats my houses rule

  • that looks divine. gotta try that!

  • Looks great also. I plan on substituting pork for lamb. Also apple cider vinegar for white vinegar. Do you know if or how much that would change the taste?

  • It will be goooood! The apple cider will give it a little tart flavor, but I bet it will be gooood!!! Let me know?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • No problem. Thank you!

  • Ok, so I finally gathered all of the ingredients. The only tweaks to what you recommended were the apple cider vinegar and a touch more liquid smoke than you recommended. Man ,that stuff was great! My only regret was taking so long to gather the ingredients!

  • gotta stop watching your vids around supper time, always get disappointed :-(

  • Dave looks great. The flavor must be intense! Did you get a new cam? The video looks sharper.

  • hi dave this looks amazing, will u please make a cottage pie lol
