I actually think it is appalling to teach spanish... UNLESS... We plan on throwing a few other languages in as well! My initial statement may have led you to believe otherwise, but I am all about diversity. Unfortuneately, its not really teaching diversity if we are only focusing on one other language. Why not Farsi? Why not Mandarin? Why not German? I have noticed a couple things...
This show is aimed at kids. It would be hard for them to keep up with all those foreign languages. Spanish is a good place to start. They hope it will encourage kids to look to other languages as they get older.
OH MY GOSH!!! THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for this for YEARS!!! This was one of my all-time Sesame Street favs! I loved when they take him out at the end, hahaha!!! Thanks so much! You have made me very happy! ^_^
This song comes in handy if you are an American stuck in a room somewhere in Mexico and you need to find your way out. It's nice that Sesame Street introduces American kids to Spanish.
I don't remember seeing this when I was younger. It sure is a catchy tune. You never know what Spanish word they'll tell you about on the show.
One thing I noticed. Up close, if you look carefully, the singing man's eyes look rather like Ernie's when he was kept awake by the the Count's counting. Anyone else notice that?
Also does anyone have that 1 where Luis is in some room with a brick wall and a salida sign, puts it up and is now able to go out? there was also a version with a exit sign as well.
It kind of reminds me of where I read in a book by George Jones that some stage hands dragged him off stage while he was still singing when he was first starting out.

Translation for the spanish lyrics:
Salida es por donde salir
Exit is the way out
Salida, esa palabra te va a decir por donde para salir
Exit, its the word that will tell you the way out

I loved that they did to Jerry Nelson's character at the end. Why can't Sesame did this kind of stuff anymore? _Eric ;)
