Although usually basing facts on video games is a bad Idea this is correct.
Let me explain:
When you pull the pin it allows you to press in the handle however the fuse does not start yet, Instead it starts when you let go of hte handle, The handle flies off and strikes a fuse one its way out. Then and only then does the fuse start. So the pin is infact the safety pin while the handle is the actual button.
