What happened at Cal was unacceptable! There are peaceful, organized ways to get the students off campus. What happened at Cal was unacceptable! There are peaceful, organized ways to get the students off campus. What we saw was chaos and it wasn't coming from the students, it was coming from the police who took it upon themselves to take it personally and act immaturely. There are better, more professional, and educated ways to talk to and have the students leave the campus. Beating the student is so wrong! In no way does this scenario make any sense. The cops came, the students built a wall of people and still would not leave. The cops had to find a way to move these people of the property they were not allowed to be on. @poet4you uhhh you bitter much? having gone to berkeley i can tell you that the student populace is actually pretty conservative. less than 25% smoke pot, more partiers in other schools for sure. most kids here study hard, work part time jobs/internships, and are very career-oriented. as far as the school and the education, well you didn't go to berkeley so you can't truly understand when i say that they dive very deeply into any given subject.

@Thizzmotion No I haven't gone to Berkeley but the people that I know that did were all liberal and extremely closed minded. Here is an example. California provides all kinds of freebies to its people. It is now virtually bankrupt. Guess who will have to bail them out? Why? Why should we bail out a state that can.t get its fiscal house in order? The occupiers are dirty and disgusting. Wherever the Tea Party people went they got a permit and cleaned up after themselves. I too like Ron Paul but I am old enough to remember another man who spoke his mind and that was Ross Perot. My vote for him resulted in one of the biggest shysters of all time Bill Clinton. I swore I would never make that mistake again. Besides, I doubt your OWS gang would want a man who thinks like Ron Paul. Philosophically I am closer to his way of thinking.

Boalt is the most expensive public or PRIVATE law school in then entire world.
Tuition and fees have gone up by nearly 9000% since Governor Brown graduated. Federal and State tuition assistance has not scaled with tuition hikes forcing students to take tens of thousands more in student and private loans. Private loans not tracked by student debt stats.
WE HAVE EVERY FUCKING RIGHT TO COMPLAIN.

Recently I saw a program on TV that showed how our government was handing out "free" bicycle helmets to people who could afford their own. This is how crazy it has all become. Irish students are marching next wednesday in our capital, Dublin. We are expecting numbers of around 40,000. Third level education in Ireland costs about 2,800 us dollars a year this is set to rise to bout 6,000 it used to be free. We are very fortunate here but it is about to change.
I worked with American students in Boston and it seems all you come away with is Debt. If the police are anyway like that (they are) Dublin next week I am going to fight back. Fuck em.

@bistnenutte This is legal in only one way and that way is that the protesters were on private property. They should have thought of this before protesting. Universities are NOT PUBLIC PROPERTY. If you want to protest do it on a street or a sidewalk. That is why OWS has not been moved. You can not move people from public property. Wouldn't you call the police if people you did not know started camping on your lawn and would not move when you told them too?

@bistnenutte It's not legal, inevitably there will be lawsuits over this incident. The municipality that employs the thugs in the video will probably throw some settlement offers at the victims. I just hope the plaintiff's can hold out
on settling, and take the case to trial so as to get judgements against the officers themselves. Rather than have the taxpayer money bail them out, the thugs should be held personally accountable.
