  • The sex scene was in the comic, but they totally played it up in the movie. The comic was much less explicit about it. I think they shouldn't have changed that. I do like the change in the ending though, the squid just never really did it for me, framing Dr. Manhatten just makes more sense and sounds more believable.

  • Just like the Comedian's fight scene at the start of the movie, epic.

  • They should have put this instead if all that unnecessary sex that bitch was busted as fuck too -_-

  • I love how they handled the death of Mason. The flashbacks to his days of glory, the old man showing up just how awesome he still is... just wow, really

  • This movie is one of my favorites because it is one of the few that represent real emotion.

  • long live the minutemen

  • its strang when rorshac is the rashonal one

  • @bananamansam I got to agree with ya these scenes are bad ass.

  • I just watched this once and I've decided this is one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever.

  • YOU ARE ALL FUCKING DUMB ASSES ....THAT SCENE WASNT TAKIN OUT....BUY THE MOVIE!!!DNT FUCKING WATCH IT ON FX OR SOME SHIT.....I SAW THAT SHIT ON HBO AND THAT SCENE IS THERE!

  • @mund0g yeah you saw the director's cut on HBO. this was not in the Theatrical Release. Chill out dude.

  • 2:26 rorchac: dan not in front of the civilions

nigt owel: oh ok you can smash a glass in some ones hands but i cant punch a guy.

and now every one in that bar knows nigt owels first name

  • I love how Rorschach just stands there at first, letting Night Owl beat that dude!!! lol

  • anyone else notice the copy of watchmen on his bookcase after the minute men picture falls

  • 0:37 , a face that says: 'You fucked with the wrong guy'

  • I agree. Nix the sex scenes, but the slow mo? No way. The slow mo was BADASS. It made the movie even cooler than it was.

  • These scenes are great!

That said, the sex scenes are important for Dan's character. This is not just a Friday night hook-up. He was impotent until he put the owl suit back on. Being the owl was the defining moment of his life, something he would never admit after he quit. Putting the mask back on and rejoining the good fight made him a whole man again.

  • I gotta agree, they should've left this scene in theatrical release and cut the sex scene on the Archie short. In the comic said sex scene was only a page long, and the movie version was like five minutes. This scene with Hollis Mason is much more important, since it marks the death of the one true hero in Watchmen.

  • did you hear those punches

  • Everyone bitches on youtube so much, god! We can all just agree that the movie should have been 2 hours longer so the whole comic could have been converted to a film. Amirite?

  • 2:32 I know!!! god, the sex scenes were just dumb. they were in the comic book. I'm currently reading it and boy did they leave out a lot of important stuff.

  • @theflyingmuppet Sex sells. More people would watch the movie for the sex scene than they would for the other content. Just like in Black Swan.

  • i love the exprassion of the bad guy at 0:40 his like "wtf" and than got a puch to the face! this scene is so well done it should have been in the first version of the movie. The Directors Cut of WATCHMEN kicks ass!

  • if u buy the blueray disc this alot of other scenes will show up

  • This is the only thing that I couldn't understand why they didn't use it in the movie.

  • this scene shouldve been in the movie... i mean you finally get a taste of nightowl other than the shifty, sort of wussy guy

  • well thats one of the three things i wished they hadn't left out in the film (the other two being dr manhattan exploring mars to see the sights like mount olympus and the giant squid ending but hey i understand the film was long already and they could only fit so much in)

  • holy fuck that was violent..... awesome

  • The problem with this cut is that it doesn't fit in with the rest of the story that they did show unless they had more cuts related. But if this was the only cut related to Hollis then it has to be cut

  • I'm straight and I didn't like the slow mo sex scene. It was very unnecessary. This scene should have replaced it. It also would have suit the "UNRATED" a bit more.

  • How did they not keep this scene in? It was so well filmed and the acting with Dan's reaction was really believable.

  • Just my opinion, this is probably one of the best scenes that was filmed for the movie

  • It gave me chills back in the 80s and actually watching it brings them right back.

  • This should`ve stayed in. Certain parts stood out when reading it, this is one of them.

  • you did a great job putting this up man i appreciate it

  • @bananamansam: yeah yuo are right, those scene are too good to be out!!

  • Why do they even kill him?

  • @MRSAMBONE2332 They go after the wrong Nite Owl, they thought he was the second nite owl.

  • Wow that's the Nite Owl I would've loved to see! (both scenes)

  • for me, the way of fighting that has Hollis Mason is simply excellent. Before he died, he probably broke four jaws and noses

  • @richieblackheart I guess that's why they deleted this scene. Zach Snyder or someone noticed all of those glaring plot holesbut I don't think Veidt has any concern for hollis mason he didn't know anything about the conspiracy or cared since he was retired

  • Well I'm lukewarm on him being killed while he does go down like a "G" there's just something that bothers me with this maybe it's those dummies though and old man could bust into a prison and yes I know he had the skills but after retiring for several years those skills get rusty

  • @ramjet94 Veidt payed them to off Mason. Thats my theory anyway. I doubt a gang of street thugs would even be that stupid to think a guy in his 70's (at least) could perform a jailbreak. And I dont think they would be suicidal enough to go up against a guy they knew has just broken into a prison during a riot and beat the shit out of numerous angry cons and armed guards either.

  • @ramjet94 They don't know that...hell, he seemed to get the best of them as a group for a few moments.

  • what is the song that plays?

  • @React24 Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni

  • @React24 It's like watching Raging Bull all over again...Maybe not.

  • I was hesitant to see this scene because I hated seeing the poor guy get killed in the comic. But dang. If I had known he was going to be that awesome, I would have written the editor personally to ask him to keep it in.

  • 2:34

    Amen to that.

  • i could have done without the sex scene mainly cause i watched this with my parents

  • i dont know why, but this gets me tears.... maybe the touching scene ive ever seen, rly dunno why... o__o

  • bloody AWESOME ;)

  • those were deleted i could of sworn i seen them in the movie

  • @1971mav yes. i'm totally homosexual when i don't want to see a naked man's butt in a soft-core porno in a supposed theatrical movie with friends and family.

  • @bananamansam friends and family? you do know this movie was rated R for a reason right? That sex scene was straight from the comic and i was glad it was left in the movie, this movie was a masterpiece in my opinion, If you had read the Graphic Novel before watching the movie you would know.

  • @FatalThrive Yeah. you're kind of missing the point here. This scene, the death of Hollis Mason, was kind of a big deal. I guess you would have missed that in the ten minutes you probably flipped through the comic, stopping to fap at the sex scene you're so in love with. Not to mention the reversed engineered squid from another dimension cloned from a dead psychic's brain that actually killed all of new york probably went over your head a little.

  • @bananamansam Well Responded and very slick. I hate people who try to act like they've loved the series their whole lives, this guy who is in love with this sex scene is defiantly somebody who jumped on the bandwagon because of the film. And was it me or every time i watch this i get chills down my spin when Hollis stops the first punch by grabbing the guys fist?

  • @bananamansam Hehehe, aaaah apocalypse squid, how I miss thee

  • @bananamansam The sexscene´s just an impression of the extasy they feel of beeing "heroes" again... it is quite important, even though they could have just... made it shorter xD But that´s the way the director makes his movies, explicit violence and sex. I really think this scene should´ve been kept in (Holli Mason scene´s)

  • @FatalThrive sorry, i have read that comic 20 times and i don't remember that scene. If the movie did something wrong was that.

  • @FatalThrive That scene wasn't lifted from the Graphic Novel. The scene in the Novel is just both of them naked, and then implied. You don't see a damn thing.

  • @1971mav he put uneeded sex scenes, maybe you have to think better before insult anybody idiot

  • at 2:36, i nodded my head

  • hey uh bannah whats the name of that awesome music do you know

  • @firelordzuko100 Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni

  • id like to see one of the thugs go one on one againt rorschach. they had trouble fighting an old man and they teamed up on him.

  • Lol that isn delted I saw that scene on max on demand a few months ago but that part was awesome

  • @firelordzuko100 you saw the director's cut. This isn't the original theatrical.

  • This is possibly one of the greatest written scenes in film history, the end is sad when he is about to be hit by the trophy. The music just is so godly. I love this movie

  • Thanks for this Scene. I like the movie, but in Germany the derecters cut is not in german language!?? Thanks and greatings from Berlin!

  • i saw thes parts on hbo

  • Wish this was in the film, its why watchmen so good, more realistic, human emotes rather than superman or spiderman being upset and not beating the shit out of a baddie

  • Damn, Hollis Mason must've still been training as a regular part of his life after he retired

  • I agree that whole sex scene sucks and awesome shit like this was cut out.

  • What was the name of that song in the background when Hollis Mason is fighting those thugs?

  • Man you know it's bad when even Rorschach stops you from hitting a guy.LOL What a shame, they really should have left this in.

  • @dpman282 lol true. but Rorschach's the kinda guy who takes you in an ally and slaughters you. He never really excessively beats someone in front of a crowd.

  • Just the way Moloch looks in this scene makes me like his character so much more. XD

  • Man, I missed the scene from the comic right at the end where the first silk spectre kisses the photograph of the minutemen. Thought it was a shame they didn't have that in the movie, kinda beautiful. But it totally redeemed itself with this scene.

The old hero, reliving the glory days, one last time.

  • huhseriously guys there must be some nice men out there i am so lonely

  • who are the villans? i only recognize captain axis

  • @anonymous549 Moloch was there at the end...

  • But I saw these scenes in the movie theatre!

  • @andiror i think you're realllyy missing the point of the sex scenes. they were made that way on purpose

  • 2:38 I agree!

  • Imo the sex scenes were too romantic, should have been more real more raw like real sex, in watchmen there is a theme to portray things in a sort of black real way, like humid dark streets of new york way. The sex scenes was like spiderman with maryjane but with more nudity it was not intense and didnt belong with the rest of essence of the film... I would have opted to get both the scenes in and redo the sex scenes but rougher with a less geeky nite owl and a more submissive silk specter

  • @Andiror there was more sex in the comic book, they even had sex after dr manhattan killed roarshack

  • They absolutely shopuld have left these scenes in.

It helps to define the impact heroes with each other and villains have in the movie and makes Nites Owl badass meter go way up.

  • There are so many awesome scenes. A lot of them could have been let out, but they're all so awesome. But like the directer said, nobody wants to watch a 10 hour movie.

Therefore, thanks for sharing these deleted scenes in hd :)

  • HM`s deleted scene puzzled me the most. I can see why others were cut for time & pace but this was just dumb. When I watched it in the theater I wondered why they left it out. I`m just glad they actually filmed it & we get to see it at all.

  • Fuck you i need unnecessary.sex scenes spliced into my intellectually ambitious movies because I don't know what a porno is! God dammit!

  • "Daniel, not in front of the civilians!" LoL

  • i just watched the watchmen directors cut with a friend, and we were saying the same thing. WTF why is this not in the theatrical movie its one of the best parts

  • great vid!

  • Ah the part where he was killed was so sad in the book but i just love when daniel gets his revenge on that dude WHY DID THEY LEAVE THIS OUT!?!?!?!

  • thats what i'm saying. It's ridiculous

  • BAD ASS

  • Out of all the scenes taken out this was the one I really wish they left in the most!!!

  • Thank you for uploading this for everyone to view. I have a question though; Do you know where I could find an online video clip of "The Retired Guys", where Dan is reminiscing with Hollis about the past?

  • I felt horrible after watching this

  • this was a great scene

  • Lol\

"slow and unneeded sex scenes." thats win right there =P

  • not the editor's call bro, its the director's.

  • By definition the directors cut is how the director wanted it. The theatrical release is what we see after the editor has trimmed it down some so it doesn't go on too long and so it 'flows' right.

  • It certainly completes the circle of former superheroes falling to their demise. I always thought they left something untouched, now I know what it was.

  • I agree, they should have left those scenes in the movie. They make me want to go out and watch it!

  • this is the raging bull theme that their playing when he's fighting.

  • 0:54 you see a copy of watchmen.

  • Who was that @ 1:22? someone plz

    answer

  • that guy is molock back in the day.

  • sad scene, dreidberg should have gotten this, not hollis.

  • they shouldn't cut this scene...would've made the movie even more better

  • ya that was a pretty amazing scene

  • Ha ha ha. Face of that greasy gang member 0:39

  • the right hook that failed captian axis

  • i think he said "floored" captain axis...excellent quote though

  • hollis was a fighter kickin everybodys ass , well not so much i wish this was in the theatrical version

  • fuck that, lets see a 3+ hour directors cut!

  • moloch was ther

  • This scene made me so sad.. R.I.P Hollis Mason.

  • yes yes yes... they should of put in Hollis's death and taken out the other bull shit.

  • The slow motion sex scene was one of the best scenes in the whole movie!

  • i totally agree dude

    especially the hollis mason fight

    it was sooo epic

  • not infront of the civilians!

  • Not in front of the human cockroaches talking about their heroin and child pornography!

  • I've always wanted the excuse to flip a table like that...

  • its sad when the munitemen picture broke .all of them exept for mothman and silk spectre are dead.i wish they could have shown captian metropilis death.they left out soooo much in this movie

  • cheers man, havent been able to get my hands on the directors cut yet

  • there's a lot they cut out. I highly recommend seeing the Directors Cut, it changes the whole mood of the movie in my opinion.

  • the fight scene should have been longer and involved him killing a couple knot tops. =)

  • I think it's a bit of a tribute to Night Owl 1 that they thought an old man like him was responsible for breaking Rorschach out of jail rather than his younger protege.

  • Can somebody tell me what sing is played during this scene?

  • "Intermezzo", from Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana

  • It's sounds like an homage to a movie or something. Maybe raging Bull. I'm not sure.

  • I now know what it is called, its Cavalleria Rusticana- Intermezzo

  • Wow...Nice connection. Another clever music clip insert.

  • Dan's reaction in the movie makes me even sadder then the actual scene where mason dies.

  • Brings A Tear To My Eyes

  • poor nity...

    asian bastards!

  • his fighting back and briefly winning was a remarkable scene. I vote it stays.

  • No such thing as an unneeded sex scene. Besides, maybe it wasn't the director that wanted the scene cut out, maybe it was the studio that wanted it out, there are a lot of hands, other than a director that get involved in whats seen in a movie. At least we're getting Director cuts and deleted scene sections with movies now, unlike back in the days of vhs.

  • Man they should have kept that! What's up with the way the guy's faces change whenever he hits them? Is that supposed to be flashbacks from when he was Night Owl? I never read anything...

  • Yes, those are all villains from the minutemen.

  • That's what I thought. A prequel movie from the times of the minutemen and their adventures would be awesome, although I don't know if anything was ever told about it in the books/comics...and supposedly the creator doesn't want movies

  • pretty sure that there was a comic book of Minutemen not sure though.

  • Yeah, Alan Moore hates hollywood so no movie would ever get his blessing, even if it were perfectly recreated, though I'm not too sure about a Minutemen movie. The purpose of The Watchmen was to show the changing political and social climate in comparison to a time that admittedly would look hokey and ridiculous. I'm sure that Zac Snyder would find some way to make it bad ass, but still, Watchmen should just stay as it is.

  • the closest thing to a prequel is Watchmen: Under The Hood, its on DVD.

  • Alan Moore WAS planning on making a prequel to Watchmen based on the lives of the Minutemen, showing their golden-age attitudes and how the differ from the more modern superhero. But, sadly, Alan Moore left DC after they screwed him over, and now there's little hope for any prequel any time soon.

  • That sucks.

  • DANIEL - NOT IN FRONT OF THE CIVILIANS.

    Thank God for Rorshach

  • Now THAT's not something people say often...

  • man you were so right about that at the end. They should have kept this scene in. Why it was taken out was beyond me.

  • I agree with adding these scenes in the movie but not at the expense of anything else. Besides, when's the last time you seen a sex scene in a movie based on comic book heroes? Wolverine had plently of opportunities but the PG-13 rating spoiled that. However, Titanic was rated PG-13 but that included nudity. What gives?

  • Titantic had what they called "artistic nudity". Wolverine was total crap anyway, a sex scene wouldn't have saved that movie.

  • TRICK OR TREAT MOTHERFUCKER

  • the look on the thug's face at 0:40 as hollis stops his punch is priceless

  • At least he got to go out with one last fight under his belt- He knew he had no chance, but notice the smile when he landed that first punch.

  • It certainly drives the point Rorschach makes about costumed heroes always dying violently. I found it amusing that he actually restrains NiteOwl, maybe worried that his old compatriot was going over the edge as he did with the kidnapping case.

  • what dvd is this on? i bought the 2 disc edition and it didnt have it :(

  • Director's Cut

  • The fact of the matter is, it's a great scene. A bunch of dumb thugs mistake a crimefighter for an old hero, and the man puts up a great fight for his age. At the very least, he's eased into death by visions of what once was, and Nite Owl II's reaction is great. It's an old man powertripping for a few seconds before being killed by a group of 5 young gang members.

  • can't imagine why they would have cut this from the movie

  • "I knew you were going to victimise me man" lol

  • did anyone notice the raging bull music at the start

  • Absolutely brutal

  • I'm rather glad this scene was deleted. This old man did nothing but fight for justice and to make others feel safe and he's killed for it. What bull is that?

  • That's the point. Read the graphic novel.

  • wtf are you talking about? This scene is simply brilliant!!!

  • ...I have no response for an answer like this.

Except, would you consider a bunch of men killing your grandfather for no particularly good reason, brilliant?

  • That's not the point. Its just the way this scene is edited I think is awesome. The way he sees the thugs as supervillains, he gives everything he got and still put up a good fight. But the cruel truth is that he's just an ordinary guy with ideals and don't have the power to change anything. He's death is heroic and pathetic at the same time. That's what i think is brilliant. You have to be able to catch the second degree in this film.

  • You way missed the point with that scene...yes it did have the effect of making you uncompfortable.....but it was Hollis Masons last heroic stand......and in all honesty...I think its one of the truely touching and inspiring moments in the film/novel!The Knot Tops did kill Hollis Mason for a reason....a kinda pathetic reason....but it showed an old man rising above them.

  • even so i kind of wish alan moore had written int oa novel where nite owl 2 finds the bastards responsible and kills them, makes them suffer for what they did

  • Why was this Deleted? when I saw that scene not too long ago I was amazed.

I Love Watchmen, such a brilliant film to remember.

  • one of the most amazing clips from the movie.

thank god i spent a little extra on the director's cut... =D

  • I agree...the sex scenes were way too played up, we could have gotten the point that the two were lovers without that. These two scenes really are crucial in explaining how Dan, even as Nite Owl who tries to maintain a sense of decency and justice can allow himself to feel the justice of retribution...just like Rorschach.
