Uhm... Next time you have a bunny like that in your garden, try escarole or paksoy. Of the 6 bunnies I've had through my life only 1 liked his regular carrot.
Side that, keep as low as possible and do not run after the bunny. Slowly pull the veggie into the box and wait until the rabbit sits calmly, because you're NOT going to win it when they're alert. The thumping and high tail and all is to warn others (and you) you're dangerous, and they're not going to sit and wait for you like that. ^^

Seriously though perhaps you should have put a call out to the pound or local vet; someone was probably missing their bunny. They may have sent someone, maybe with nets, to catch it for you. I think it would be pretty difficult for anyone to catch on their own.
@christinasuarus Leaving a pet-bunny out in the open is more lethal for it than trying to put it in a box and get it to a rescue-centre. Pet-bunnies are seldomly able to stay alive as their natural instincts are bred out. They won't watch for predators and they don't know where to find water and good food.

DONT U CALL THAT BUNNY STUPID U STUPID!. Rabbits are very smart and I have one. They won't repond to a simple "come here" or a carrot. They can jump very high, also that doesnt look like a wild rabbit so it might be someones pet. don't be afraid of animals becides dogs because they can be fun.
