He's so right in every way, I'm Bi-polar, and people accuse me off faking it when I'm in mania, they think its always depressed, I've had horriable things said to me by ignorent people who make their own assumptions, and belive they know everything about it.
Im 16 and im Bipolar. I hate how no one outside my family understands what it is. Max Bemis is an amazing artist and amazing person. He is the one person i can relate too.
i dont tell people about it either. its kinda embarassing. i was nervous to tel me dad. people think your crazy when you tell them, so whats the point? max is my hero for telling people his story. i relate to him so much. he knows how it is.
i'm bipolar and I hate telling other people. he's definitely right, people who don't know enough about the disorder definitely make their own assumptions about you based on it. I usually wait to bring that up until I know someone, and they know me, so I won't be judged by it. Thanks max for saying this, I hope many more people will watch this and change their single-minded outlook on bipolar disorder.
Admittedly, I was one of those few who would make assumptions about it. I just thought Bi-Polar was like - you'd be hanging out with your friend and having a really great time and then he suddenly turns on you and tries to kill you or something.
I guess as you get older and experience a lot of lifes emotional aspects, you just realise that it's as it says on the tin - really high points followed by really low points.
he says people don't talk about it on the tv show neighbours there is a character who has bipolar, so hopefully people will understand it more (okay its just a tv soap but at least they are talkin about it)
He's right about people not talking about being Bipolar. I mean My dad is Bipolar and I am too, and when I tell someone my dad is they think I was abused as a kid, so I dont tell them I am.
i love you max bemis. i love you i love you i love you. you are a truly inspiring and beautiful human being inside and out.
and you guys tore it up in S.F the other night. best show EVER--just thought you should know :)
